“This place is magical. Although minutes from downtown it’s in a whole different world. We stayed at the Ponderosa with a friend. The cabin was clean, cozy, tastefully decorated and equipped with more than you ever would have thought of needing. The property is phenomenal right on the river under the pines. The dappled sunshine on the rocks and many pathways is gorgeous. Swings, chimes, swinging picnic tables, statues, a gong and artwork greet the eye just the right amount. Herb, Natalie and Pearl are welcoming, attentive, professional, and knowledgeable. Definitely a destination for a vacation.”

“The location is awesome and down the street from downtown. The pool and jaccuzi are indoor and open 9-9, so you can definitely hear children shouting sometimes, which could interrupt your sleep or if you're looking to have a late soak. However, the staff is friendly, accommodating and great. The breakfast was great and my husband and I appreciated the complimentary happy hour drinks, very nice! There was plenty of room for parking so this was a good hotel, plus it's pet friendly. Very clean and ideal for a balcony breakfast (careful of the door auto locking behind you) nice views and you don't hear the train at all.”

“Wonderful upgraded rooms in a classic old building. Coffee and cookies in the lobby, no coffee machines in the room. There is a funky elevator that is hard to open and close, so we used the stairs a lot. Our original room was an interior room, dimly lit and kinda dank, we upgraded to an exterior room (worth the upcharge). We'll have breakfast in the morning, website says continental, hoping for pancakes or fruit!A nice romantic place, everything works, nice firm mattress and pillows. Bathrobes are a nice addition, especially if you visit the hotsprings!Nearby activities: Durango/Silverton railroad! Sorry for the noise!”

“I highly recommend this motel if you're in Durango looking for an affordable place to stay near the downtown area. The staff is polite and attentive. The grounds are well kept and the rooms are clean and comfortably cozy. The ice machine was right across the parking and there was a lovely outdoor seating area where guests could sit and enjoy the night air. Also if you're so inclined there is a mini game/arcade gazebo. All and all I think this is a definite rustic diamond in the rough!”

“I stayed here after completing the Colorado trail and it was what I needed. I stayed in the hostel portion and then I was able to access the kitchen and the pool part of that. There were four bunks in the hostel part and I felt safe in there. There was this weird bug in there there was a lot of them it's not a bedbug it's like an outside bug and I'm not bothered by that there was a vacuum in there that you could vacuum them up if you wanted to they're not in anyway harmful to you and they don't bite you. There was an issue with the washer and dryer however the staff gave me detergent to wash my clothes but the way that you pay for the washer and dryer's was there an iPad and that wasn't working. I still was able to wash and dry my stuff. This place is kind of far from downtown in the walk isn't really safe at night in the staff was nice to tell me that. But they gave me the name of a good local taxi service.”
