Just went for some dogbones, and had a nice mellow exchange, no upselling, no memberships, no credit cards.
Had a wander down to consignment and samples and wandered out a little bit happier.
Look forward to them reopening and visiting again.

Great selection of new and used consigned outdoor clothing and equipment. Very knowledgeable staff. There is free customer parking off 15th Street right behind the store.

Very nice retail and consignment store. The staff is very friendly and helpful! It's too bad it's becoming a Black Diamond Store.

This is such a good place to find items you need at a much lower price. I got hiking poles for half the price elsewhere!!!

Awesome store, I bought from here and used their consignment shop before and both were great experiences. Today I brought in a few lightly used items to the consignment shop and Mattie helped make it an easy process! I’ll definitely be back!

I bought a consignment pack that I had some problems with the first time I used it. I came and talked to them about it and they found a solution. It would have been easy to say the sale was final and there wasn’t anything they could do but they found a solution. I highly recommend this store. I have bought many items there and I always find it a good value.

This is the best outdoor gear store in Denver, and there isn’t really a close second. The place right across the street has essentially become a big box store for rich people. The contrast in value between the two places has always been there, but now it is simply eye-popping. I have read other reviews that have called Wilderness Exchange a “used gear store”, which is not accurate. They have tons of new gear from top level brands at low prices. They also carry a lot of new close outs and samples of premium products that are at prices below anything you can find online (many outdoor gear companies have their headquarters in the Denver area and sneak out their extra gear to this store so it goes to the locals who are in-the-know). Often times the items aren’t listed on their website, so take my advice and GO IN THERE! Matty is awesome. He will greet you and ask you what you’re “hunting for”. There is a very good chance they will have something that is exactly what you are looking for at around half the price of the big box across the street. They also have lots of used gear for dirtbag locals like me who have hung on through the invasion of nouveau riche to D-town over the last ten years. I just “hunted” down a hard-to-find, almost new pair of used climbing shoes in there for 45 bucks, which is essential when you’re basically an adult-child hyperactive monkey with bad footwork at the climbing gym who relies on gettin the energy out to maintain a normal mental health baseline (you’re me in this example of you didn’t catch that). The other reason you should go there is because a lot of used gear has a ton of life left, and it just didn’t fit someone well, and it’s also better for the environment to have you flailing around all over the place on your project level V3’s (again me) with someone else’s shoes than to have them end up lookin all rad in a landfill somewhere, while a corporate chump at the climbing shoe company that sold out to Big Rubber schemes up a new model that has no real innovation just so they can gouge all the economically endowed folks who moved out to Colorado to start climbing just because they couldn’t handle the reality that some ragamuffin like me has Instagram reels that blows theirs away (deep breath… let it go). Alright I feel better now. The cool thing is if you do want to go in there flashin around your Texas Benjamins, they have all kinds of badass European gear that none of the schmos you went to high school with have any idea how to utilize out there in the peaks, and, in time, you can have some real cliffy shots of you online looking like a real gangster, too (maybe).

Highly recommend Wilderness Exchange. Very knowledgeable staff, low key atmosphere and great new and consignment selections. They stand by their products and will take as much time as needed to find the ski equipment that is right for you. My son just bought his first pair of skis/ boots and we were both pleased with the level of knowledge and service.

Great outdoors spot! Come here before going to REI because you’ll probably find what you need here and you’ll be supporting a small business too!

What a great outdoor store. They had a good selection of new items but the real deals are the used equipment. I highly recommend stopping here before going anywhere else.
