The prices are escalating too much so it’s becoming a real deal breaker. It didn’t sink in that I was paying ~ $45 for a chicken today. I’m familiar with organic prices. One issue with Western Daughter Butchers all along is that it’s been testing what the market will bear, not keeping prices fair. The chicken hinds used to be competitive with the grocery store. Today they were $12 lb.

5 stars bc the service and meat was good. But the prices are NOT reasonable like others mentioned, even for dry aged. Denver steak costs 25$ a pound here. You can get it wayyyy cheaper online or literally anywhere else nearby.

I was not treated the way I have been treated at other butchers. The person in line before me was offered a 10% discount off their 1st order - when I asked for the same I was instead offer an expired $12 ground beef. He actually went to the freezers and sifted through the one that were there to find the expired one to give me - I spend $270 that day - Not Impressed and will NOT be returning.

If you want a treat to start your weekend, grabbing a burger at Western Daughters Butcher Shop is a great way to start. They only serve cooked up food once a week, so get there early to ensure they don't sell out. The taste of their fresh grass-fed beef makes this butcher shops burger one of the best. The flavor is a combination of ambrosia and enriches the soul. Juicy, flavorful, and filling descibes the overall burger. Layered with house mustard, house bacon, carmelized onion, pasturized cheddar, and butter lettuce you get flavor in every bite. I would highly recommend grabbing one if you are looking for a burger to satisfy your taste buds. Oh don't forget your meats for the week as well, they have all the cuts and locally sourced.

No more for me.
At $40.00 a pound I expected a center cut of beef filet tenderloin. I pointed out that I did not want the end pieces tied up in string. He was adamant enough that I just said fine. The prosciutto was cut very thin, it was very chewy and lacked flavor. The fat was creamy and there was lots of it. Haven't used the 80/20 ground beef.
As far as returning?
No.
I was in the food and beverage business for 40 years with retail management, front of the house, back of the house and in every position. I trained in New Orleans with great chefs.
I know my eats.
This place does cater towards individuals with dietary restrictions and needs.

They know meat. I suggest having the butcher's choice tasting platter or the Saturday burger bash

I got the best steak I’ve ever eaten at this place years ago, but just because it is grass fed and single animal butchery does not mean it is worth $45/lb. Maybe adjust price for the animal you butcher? Idk I was just wanting to treat myself and came away quite disappointed.

I love everything about WSD! The warm welcoming shop atmosphere, thoughtful product diversity featuring other local vendors and the knowledgeable staff. Everything about this place is top tier. I ordered half a hog share and I was impressed with the entire process start to finish. When you order a hog share or cow share from farms, they generally don't give you all the options and level of detail that you get when ordering through WDB. They go into a lot more detail about your cuts, your options and generally just level set expectations to avoid any surprises at pickup. These extra considerations are greatly appreciated. Every cut was FRESH, vacuum sealed and labeled. When you order from a farm they usually freeze everything. I thought the fresh element was very thoughtful. When I picked up my order I asked a slew of other questions about the beef they sell and Griffin was patient and extremely helpful. I've been a customer of WSD over the last 8 years or so and I'm always impressed with the consistency of the products they sell as well as the knowledge and expertise of their staff. Truly remarkable! Keep up the great work!

The one time I came to stop in and they’re closed “due to weather” when the rest of the city is open and business as usual. Wish these companies would at least update their online listings, websites, or voicemails to give people a heads up before we waste our time driving there. I’ll take my money elsewhere.

Traveled from LA in search of a Denver steak. The service was very helpful in advice of choice of cuts.

Honestly think they took advantage of my senior citizen parents over the weekend. They sold them two sad "T-bones" that did in fact have a T shaped bone but unfortunately there was literally zero meat on the tenderloin side. They had to buy two different steaks to go with the T-bones to feed all four of us because neither primal cut had enough for more than two thin steaks to be cut. The excuse was "we are out of meat until Thursday." I find that basically impossible to believe that a whole animal butcher has no meat.
