Very friendly service! They took a careful look to make sure I wasn’t charged or fixed up for anything unnecessary. I appreciated their communication and swiftness.

Went in for an oil change. Nice folks. Got the oil change, left the shop. Easy.I drove around for a bit and the car smelled terribly like oil while driving.Looked under the hood and Mike the technician left the oil cap off and oil had spilled all over my engine. I came back to show this, they cleaned it up.However, was not offered a refund and when asking for a refund I was told by James “they have to check the security tapes.”The engine was covered in oil which can completely destroy an engine. If I had not caught it earlier, there would’ve been a heavy chance that the engine would not have oil in it. I understand mistakes happen but implying that I may have sabotaged my own car for a free oil change by “checking the security tapes” is unacceptable.I’ll be calling everyday to get a follow up on those security tapes.Update:They decided to write back here before calling me back after I left them a message.I was never offered a complimentary oil change toward my next visit. If that’s what y’all were thinking about doing, you never told me that information. And since we literally only talked once, the day of the oil change, a phone call back after I left a message would’ve been helpful. And in the message I was indeed frustrated because I do not like being called a liar. I never resorted to foul language, anything sinister or tried to force anyone for a refund. In my message I asked them to stop this in between business because checking the security tapes is essentially calling me a liar. Either call me a liar and do not give me a refund. Or offer something. Or even, call me back.Nothing was offered, I was called a liar. They said the oil cap was on when I returned the vehicle.Correct. I put it back on the car because I thought it was pretty strange the cap was off in the first place and oil was all over the engine. I’m not a mechanic but I would wager that’s not good for an engine. I have never once received an oil change and felt the need to double check a mechanics work. I checked under the hood because when driving around the fumes were so strong that I knew something was wrong. Also James over the phone, after I called them, said the oil cap was “loose,” which is interesting cause I don’t think a loose oil cap could cause as much oil to get all over the engine as it did.The customer service provided by James is possibly the worst I’ve ever received. I’ve been in a customer service my whole life whether it be service industry or retail. When I asked when I’d get an update on the security tapes, if I should call or if they would call he said “either or.”Clearly none of this was a priority to them and they think an error like not putting an oil cap on is not a big deal. This business is laughably run. If you’re in the neighborhood or thinking about doing any form of business with them, don’t bother. Give literally any other shop your business.

I always go to West Highlands for repairs on my Jeep Cherokee. They are good mechanics, reasonably priced, and very honest people to deal with. Recently they diagnosed and fixed a persistent squeak in my braking system for less than $100.

I do not trust the mechanics at West Highlands Auto Repair. They charged me $148 just to tell me what I already knew about my car which is that the speed sensors need to be replaced. They also quoted me $640 to remove some battery corrosion and replace the speed sensors. I had already personally purchased the sensors which cost $3 each. Their pricing is a complete scam. I would pay a shop double the cost to just be honest. The workers are very polite but I want my money to go towards a working car at the end of the day. Would not recommend.

I took my car here a few weeks ago and asked them to check the transmission fluid as I was noticing my car having a minor issue getting into gear. The folks I spoke with seemed very nice and were willing to get me in quickly, so I felt pretty good about taking my car to them initially, but unfortunately, that would all change very quickly. To my shock, when they called me after looking at my car they informed me that I would need a new radiator AND a new transmission. But something felt off to me, there was no way my transmission was shot after the first signs of an issue, not to mention that the quote they gave me for the transmission replacement was WILDLY above the average for that service AND when I reviewed the recipt they gave me, it seems like they didn't even do the very thing I asked them to when I brought it in by flushing the fluid. I decided to get a second opinion just in case, so, I took my car to a different mechanic and what do you know? My transmission just needed a quick flush and it was fine. Absolutely no need to get it replaced. My car has been running just fine ever since.Personally speaking I do not trust the guys at West Highlands Auto repair, maybe it's just me, maybe other people have had a better experience, but despite how nice they seem something feels very off about my personal experience here and I will not be bringing my car back here ever again.Service: Transmission

Unfortunately I no longer have trust in them. Brought it in and they worked on a part. The next day another issue arose. They replace the gas gauge and when I drove it off I noticed issues. They said they couldn't claim any fault because they couldn't drive it when I brought it in. The next day the car was leaking gas and wouldn't start. A clip that holds a gas line was broken to where it fits on but doesn't secure. Took it to another shop and they said it's in the same area where they did the work and the mechanic probably hit the clip and broke. There is no other reason that clip would've broken on its own. There is more to the story but I am running out of space. Basically West Highland Auto pretended not to cause further damage and couldn't repair the damage. Just be careful and if something else fails after they've fixed on things take it to a different mechanic. The only positive is they didn't charge me for a diagnostic fee for figuring out what they broke in the first place.

Had my brakes (pads and rotors) done here on 11/22/2021. When it started shaking when I brake I called about the warranty (2yrs and 24,000miles) and the manager, James, was combative and condescending. Then said he would have to keep my car for 2 days if I wanted to have them replaced under the warranty. I can't be without my car for 2 days and he refused to escalate the issue.Totally seems like this is how they get out of doing warranty work. Very disappointed in the work, parts, and especially disappointed in the response from the manager at this shop. Why does it have to be so frustrating and impossible to find a shop that is just straight forward and above board? We have enough people trying to scam us. We don't need it in our neighborhood shops, too!Service: Brakes

James is the absolute best!! He always has the best attitude and has always had my best interest in mind. Although he seems to never catch a break he still manages to get s*** done! He helped me get my warranty company to fix my screen when no other shop could. He always called me back even when he was slammed with answering the phone and taking care of customers. I have always appreciated his great attitude and reassurance that they will get me taken care of. James needs a pay raise and a vacation!!!!!! I can vouch and I think many others can!
