Currently experiencing a horrible experience with Thrifty. We had confirmed the day before picking our rental, via customer service 3x, a 4 WD. We are in the snow. They charged a$175 to upgrade the car to a 4WD. We do. We get a Toyota Tacoma & drive away. Unbeknownst to us, it was 2 WD. We realized it when we were in the snow, kids in truck, sliding unsafely, almost in a ditch. A friend that drives in snow all the time, was able to help out.We called Thrifty this morning to rectify the situation by sending another vehicle. They would not because we need to pay $450 to have someone exchange the cars, despite their costly error!! The customer service is beyond atrocious. They could care less that their costly mistake almost caused a fatal accident. have rented cars for many years and I have never experienced such horrific and costly customer service. Do NOT rent a car from here. And any response they give to this feedback, will not suffice unless they exchange the rental car that we paid for. As any company would do that has integrity.Post

First time using Thrifty, while we started out a little rocky with another agent, Brandon then stepped up to help us and get us the car we needed at a great deal. Really appreciated his willingness to assist, kindness, and his quickness in getting us what we needed. I'd recommend.

Worst customer service ever! Dallas Forest Lane office.I had some questions about renting an EV ( I foolishly thought it would be fun to try one out but it's the company's way of generating lots of new 'fees".When inquiring about how fueling works and how to refill before returning the car I was told " To go to the desk and 'be a grown- up" ( practicing surgeon for 30+ years) and deal with it. You get what you pay for if you rent the 'cheapest' car. ( expect to pay at least $35.00 if you haven't refueled properly, expect it to take a long time if you go to the wrong charging station. Expect to be treated like dirt by Thrifty/ hertz personnel.) I wish I could give negative stars

Do not rent from this company they do not disclose charges such as gas prepaid , after specifically telling the agent my insurance will cover a rental car -I was charged for and never disclosed until I returned the car - also never disclosed that adding a second driver was a fee-non disclosure due to agent not communicating in English but used an associate to help him ! Terrible customer service!

EDIT: Despite the experience, it turns out they charged me $200 extra and were very unclear about it in the moment of the rental. Unfortunately I have to revise my review down.—-The staff was friendly, personable, helpful, and quick. The shuttle logistics were easy, and pick-up & return were easy. The price was good and the car was clean and safe.

I was charged fuel but filled up the car. Didn’t find out until I went to the airport. Luckily I had extra time and went back and disputed the charge. The gentleman behind the counter fixed it right away when I showed him my receipt. He was super helpful and deserves a 5 star. Had he not helped me my only option was emailing the general Hertz email and hope for the best.

My license expired the day after I had to return my rental. I got denied pick up due to that. My girlfriend took it over with her card and her the renter. We paid the HEFTY deposit and rental cost. My card (from the denied rental) has $113 charged and they're saying they are fees. While my girlfriends card has the rental amount listed on receipt with all fees on receipt covered. Hidden fees were only $12 less than the rental with listed fees. Customer service is absolutely useless. They said they will not refund me but will not send me an invoice proving where the fees came from. Absolute garbage

Place is a scam, can't tell who an "employee" is. Returned the car a few hours early on the drop-off day and I'm still being charged daily because they won't close out my contract. Customer service can't help, calling them directly for hours, no one picks up. Horrible experience, spend the few dollars extra and always go with enterprise or Avis, even Budget.

The car had damaged windshield wipers that made it extremely hard to see and unsafe to drive. Was told I wouldn't be able to change who the driver was because I did the prepay option. There are no restrictions mentioned when booking for the prepay option. Ended up having to pay for an "additional" driver because I couldn't just switch the driver. The employee understated the cost of doing that and did not provide any accurate total/receipt until after I was charged. Dealing with their customer service after the fact has been a nightmare. Overall their practices seem extremely deceptive.Update- their corporate customer service did make it right after having to go back and forth a handful of times. Doesn't change my opinion of the location since I still had to go through a lot of extra work, but the company did make it right.

SCAM CHARGINGI was wrongfully charged for additional insurance. I am certain I checked the "decline additional insurance" box. While reviewing the contract, the attendant verified that I denied additional insurance. I agreed that it was correct. Two weeks later, I noticed I had two charges from Thrifty Car Rental. I called to let them know I had been charged twice for the rental. The supervisor stated that I had checked the box for additional insurance and signed it. This is a form of thievery. This was not a mistake on my part. I always decline additional insurance while renting cars.

Update: I won the dispute through my bank, who issued me a refund for the excess charges. Don't take it lying down if you rent a car from this place.

I booked a rental through Priceline before reading reviews of this location. Not going to lie: when I saw the reviews, I was worried and wanted to cancel; however, I prepaid so I was out of luck. Am pleased to report that it was a pleasant experience from beginning to end. Picking up the SUV was easy - we were in and out in about 15 minutes. Our vehicle was great and had no problems. We had a super early return flight, and even though we arrived at 3:30 am to drop off the vehicle, there was a friendly shuttle driver waiting for us to take us to the airport. Not sure if our experience is the exception and not the rule, but we're glad it worked out!

This place is absolute trash and will scam you! Watch out! I’ve never had any other problems like this with any other car rental place. They overcharged us $200 for car insurance that I specifically told the guy at the counter I did not want. I have been calling for 2+ weeks now for a refund to which they won’t give back. Their car was also not maintenanced at all. The windows were very dirty and the wipers did not even work-it had rained almost the entire time there. We almost just went to the store and bought new ones ourselves. I also requested that a manager/supervisor call me so I could explain this whole ordeal. I was told 24-48 hours and they’d call me back. I waited 5 business days and still had no call back. I would NOT waste your time or money on this place. I will definitely not be using them ever again and will be telling all friends/family to avoid this place.
