Doesn't let men in. "The men's shelter is across the street." You'll waste your time if you are a guy.

Seems like they deleted my last review, this shelter denied my daughter and I. I begged them just to sleep on floor and they said no, I explained to them that I can't be on streets with my 11 year old child I was concerned about men! They had us walking the streets around 11 at night! I went over there multiple times to beg! Then they started ignoring me when I was ringing the bell.So my daughter and I had to take shelter in a apartment complex hallway and avoid trying to get kicked out on the cold streets. The funny thing is we was referred to them! This shelter turned us away! They didn't care at all!

This place says it's a refuge for women and transgender woman. Except for a few positive great staff, they address us trans girls as men. They also allow cisgender women to call us the F word, sissy, and men. Report it, they come back and flip it on you like you did something wrong. Out of the 30 times I've been called the F word, sissy, punk, etc.etc. No one that has verbally attacked me has been reprimanded. A girl threatened to spit on me and after I reported it, they came back to me and said that she said I identified as a man?! Be careful if your a trans woman because they really don't like us and they will let the cisgender women abuse you with no repercussions

We were told that they only serve single-parent households as of August 31st 2023. This doesn't make sense because we can't help we are a two-parent family. Our kids need somewhere to go. We moved here from Oklahoma City, we drove just for them to tell us this. We lost our home and everything in a flood. We drove 9 hours and 45 minutes to get to a better place and we are not receiving any help. This is so disappointing.

On the waiting list to get in got to pass all the checks, you know. The last time I stayed at the Samaritan House I had a wonderful experience and was able to bring my guitar In with me and when the chapel was not busy I was able to practice, I no longer have a guitar but I do remember that.

These people are rude and unkind kat the so called associate director of the 48th Street shelter is so mean and would rather see you die then follow the laws she violates the disability act and acts like it is no big deal she is willing to put people out who have no where to go and force them to be without their oxygen and she is willing to put you out really late at night when the busses aren't even even running anymore and that place is so filthy that it should be shut down by the health department not to mention the so called security at the beginning of August they let a woman come in and get passed security with a knife because the security guard that night didn't search her and she stabbed a woman 4 times talk about always being afraid after they allowed that to happen shutting the place down would benefit everyone

I should have a zero rating on here , this place is very unprofessional and I’m glad more people are being aware of the situations that are being caused here , if you have children do not stay here if your struggling for a place to stay definitely do some re search on these places , I have this odd feeling they’re trying to take kids away from families that are struggling , they’re trying to throw this under the rug but it’s already being aired out so you’ll probably be seeing this on the news ! Bless everyone going through a temporary struggle , these days do not stay like this you’ll be who you want to be and you will succeed you and your family , don’t let the gov try and belittle you because your voice matters ! Reach out and definitely let your stories be heard. Bless you all

If you have kids I would highly advise finding shelter elsewhere. They will call CPS on you on a false positive drug test without no hesitation and or get your test mixed up with someone else's and still call CPS on you. I literally had to fight for mine and my childrens rights and DEMAND a retest after this CPS worker showed up here. They legally tried kidnapping my kids if I had no family to come get them for 2weeks after they completely damaged my character and made claims that I wasnt sober. After I tested negative the second time, I did not get no apology. CPS still wants random UAs from me that I will have to travel to on my own which is more money out my own pocket and I'm struggling enough already as is! The unnecessary inconvenience and stress this has caused me over a false positive drug test or mix up test is INSANE. I'm 28years old with a clean background and no criminal history or drug abuse. So this is disgusting I have to deal with this. And I did not get no apology or accountability on their end! The absolute audacity of these people!

Dropped off some clothes;) what I love about this place/ unlike other places you drop items off they have people buy the item you donated. At this place it is given to people who could use it for free

The majority of the people they help are White or Hispanic. Being Black you’ll wait at the door for 30-45 minutes with them hoping you’ll leave, then they just say they don’t have any beds. You can’t talk to anyone and the automated message says show up at 4:30 but no one lets you in. I’ve come several times trying to get my 60 year old mother a bed and they always turn her down. Tired of all these foundations and charities stealing money from the government just to discriminate when it comes to helping Black people. STOP FUNDING THESE PLACES.
