For a place that states they care about people and helping them with their struggles they sure are quick to throw people back in the streets if someone didn't see things "their way" I saw this happen on multiple occasions which obviously shows this place is a business above anything else.

The Harbor Light program helped me out in 2007 and I don't think I will ever be able to repay the debt. Thank you and I will always pay it forward in God's name.

So I recently called this place to see if they could help me out with a bus card for, unfortunately they told me that there bus passes was for the homeless only, WOW REALLY, you guys give them bus cards so that they sleep all day on the bus, do drugs, and load up all that trash on the bus, but can't give a disabled person that rides the bus every day a bus card. WOW HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS

This is the worst place to work for. The only thing good was helping others in need. The so called chefs that they have in this place is a joke. James Jr. and James Sr. are a bunch of crooks. How do you take food home that's meant to be for people in need when you work everyday. The only time the place is half way cleaned is if we're having an inspection. I've seen old food that they still give people and nothing is said. With Covid going around in the facility really bad, why aren't people wearing mask and washing their hands like they are supposed to? Especially the father and son Chef. It's a lot that goes on that people on the outside have no idea about.

The Salvation Army provides many service for those struggling. If your hopes are gone, call and ask for help. Speaking from experience, when I was utterly hopeless, tSA was there as the loving hand off God. They helped guide me during that dark time by providing some great services and care.

Total disclosure: This review is from the perspective of a clinical social worker and not as a resident. That said, I work with many of the veteran residents here and meet with them weekly. I also regularly meet with the case managers who work directly with them, with the intake coordinator and billing staff. I've been a clinical social worker for over twenty years and have worked with those experiencing homeless for close to a decade. All this to say, I've seen, heard and experienced a lot. First, the SA Harbor Light building is gorgeous and well taken care of. Their lobby is hotel worthy and doesn't bely any of the interior shared spaces, kitchen, chapel, library, work out / gym area and yes, even a cute barber shop for the residents. It's beautifully done, from top to bottom. This program's management includes resident staff which adds to ownership and accountability for all residents. They offer different types of treatment models, work with males only and offer transitional housing and intensive case management for those experiencing homelessness or who are at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Love. This is humanity in action and compassion at work. I am privileged to work with both the staff and residents. I'll try and snap some pics when the pandemic is over, but if you've walked in, you know what I'm talking about!
