Communicating with this shelter has been a horrible experience. I emailed for several weeks with no response even though I reached out to multiple people. However, when I stated I would be writing a negative review, I received a response in minutes. Once I finally received a response they were incredibly dismissive and rude. If I could give 0 stars I would. It was an awful experience and I wouldn’t trust this establishment.

We adopted Petey last week and although we’ve had him for a short period of time, he has warmed up completely! MaxFund is a great dog shelter and the employees are extremely caring and loving towards the animals. Thank you so much for our new family member! We love this goofy boy

If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. When I walked in I was greeted with the sight of the manager yelling at and practically abusing the dogs. Now that I know more about Erick the manager I now know he’s an abusive meth addict with a prior arrest, doing my research I can tell you this man was arrested on charges for beating his ex wife, and was recently arrested for abusing another girl. My hope is she files charges against this man. If he can hit a woman as well as the animals he’s sworn to take care of at the job he’s paid to do then he can handle what comes next when he’s behind bars. Erick v count your days as a free man.

My friend and I visited the shelter and loved their set up and protocols. The facility is neat, comfortable, and the staff is so friendly! We were able to visit and play with Ollie (absolutely loved him!!) and saw Colin briefly. The dogs seemed to love it there and were treated so well.

Thank you Eric Velliquette for all of your support and help! Thank you Sarah Sutton and Fabio as well. You all helped so much! Beautiful hearts and great shelter. I am so thankful I was able to wait. Yes it’s a wait for them to take your pet in but after you feel a since of okay and peace. Beautiful people all around that want to help! This is the number one shelter in Colorado! I’m truly thankful ~ELWAYS MOM~

Some non profits really get my goat. Maxfund actually serves the community, and my favorite pets. Donate to places that actually work.

Does not properly vet their dogs before they allow meet and greets. Dogs profile said very child friendly. The dog locked on and acted like they wanted to rip my child to shreds.

Despite having had many, many companions over the years, we had never adopted from a shelter and didn't quite know what to expect. Finding a new friend is a very different experience from a new friend finding you and I am happy to report that with MaxFund, everything went as perfectly as it possibly could!
There was a whole line of helpers who facilitated the meetcute between Ellie Mae and us, from my coworker friend who sent a link to a different MaxFund dog on the website, to Tamara who is an extraordinary matchmaker, to Kess (please excuse any misspelling) who made us feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we walked through the door, to Erica (again, please excuse any misspelling) who was in charge of the actual introduction.
My husband and I were both impressed with how much the staff at MaxFund care about the animals; that's obviously their very first concern. Did I feel a little like Atreyu passing through the Spinx Gate (old person reference)? Yes. Was I relieved to make it through unscathed? Also yes. However, it was absolutely worth it because we now have a new family member with whom we are already madly in love after only two days.
We adpoted Ellie Mae to be a companion to our aging cat who recently lost his sister and had been depressed and lonely. They're already sleeping together.
When it's his turn to leave us and after I am done mourning, we will be calling MaxFund to find a friend for Ellie Mae.
