Two things you need to know before booking!
1. Yes, there is an amenity fee – (my three-day trip cost me $81.00+).
What they don’t tell you is that you will be charged $100+ depending on the duration of your stay. So before I got my keys, I was charged $300.00. I was told that it would be returned after I check out, and they do this in case you use their valet service or buy something from their front desk. I was taken aback because I had only saved so much and was not expecting to drop $300 before I got to my room. I understand the amenity fee because the website stated that, but I was not told I would have to spend $100+ anywhere on the site or Expedia. I do, however, appreciate the hotel staff and have no problem with them whatsoever! They were so helpful and very friendly!
2. I’m not sure how long the hotel has been having this “lobby smell” issue, but I have seen reviews that date back a week or two.
Yes, there is a very strong smell in the lobby! I would describe it as a public restroom… it hit me as soon as I walked in from the main doors and getting off the elevator. I was not expecting the smell to follow me into the restaurant as well. We sat down for a nice dinner, but the smell was so bad we had to slam our drinks and leave. I will mention that the staff in the restaurant and hotel were very nice and attentive!
Other than that… it was a decent stay!??✨

This hotel used to be a regular stay for me but it has gone down hill. The surrounding location has become increasingly sketchier and deserted. The lobby smell is so offensive it’s hard to even walk through. When I checked in I was told the internet was down and it was a city wide Verizon issue, naturally I looked up to see if there was a restoration eta only to find there were no issues on Verizon’s side and other reviews on here going back weeks saying the WiFi doesn’t work. Needless to say I wont being staying or bringing groups to this property in the future and they really should remove the Kimpton name as it is no where near the standards of other Kimpton properties or any 4 star hotel for that matter.

Rooms, Location, Service all 5 stars. However, I could not get past the offensive smell of the lobby here. I know it is a pet friendly hotel, but the seccond you walk in, you are accosted by a very strong pet feces and urine smell. It is truly unbearable. Our local kennel smells better... seriously. Felt like the small was on my clothes after I returned home. It was not just me because we could hear others commenting on how bad it was also. For the price, this placw should be able to afford new carpets or better deodorizing. It is a shame because it is a lovely hotel and the staff were all lovely as well.

Why does it smell like a public toilet in here? Came for dinner but opened to just have one drink instead. The whole property smells terrible

Food and dining options are amazing, and I love the European influenced culture at this hotel. The rooms speak for itself as grand and doesn't need any updates for a couple of years! Every part of the room is spotless and high quality! I recommend Kimpton Hotels.

This hotel does not deserve its current rating. Kimptom should not put their name on this location. Lobby smells like sewer and air freshener. Reservation says 3pm I show up at 230pm. I am told by concierge that my room is not ready and they don't have another I can check into. Also, I'm told check in is not until 4 pm, which is clearly not what is on the reservation or any hotel info I could find. The concierge offered to take my phone number and text me when my room was ready. This never happened either. I came back to the hotel at about 530pm and was finally allowed into my room. Which after waiting for hours was the worst room in the hotel. I was literally ontop of the elevators and had people yelling and running outside my door all night. Door had a 2 inch gap you could see under into the hallway? This place is a mess and charges a "resort fee" as well. Please stay at the Renaissance directly across the street from this place. It's a tourist trap.

Hidden Fees, Poor Service, and Slow WiFi - Not Worth It
I would advise anyone considering staying here to beware of hidden daily amenity fees of $27. According to the front desk, I should have searched their website to discover these hidden fees before booking. I’ve never been scammed by a hotel like this before, but I will be checking for these types of charges moving forward.
I booked through Capital One, so I didn’t check their website directly. When I asked the front desk why the fee wasn’t included in the rate, they had no response (I’ll be sharing an image of this as well).
We also had to switch rooms because there was hair left in the shower. To top it off, the WiFi was extremely slow, which was very frustrating when trying to get some work done. There are far better options in Denver. This place is overpriced and definitely not worth it. I do not recommend staying here.
*****After addressing this issue in person. The assistant manager Judith checked and confirmed the amenity was not there and to speak to capital one. I didn’t understand the point of her reviewing my reservation if she was never going to refund it regardless of the outcome. She was extremely unprofessional and rude and wrong, no apology, I had 4 missed calls from her notifying me that she canceled our reservation and kicked us out of the hotel. We received an email later from the actual manager of the hotel and received a refund for the amenity fee. Please please please do not stay at this hotel. The worst experience I’ve ever had in my entire life.

Completely dishonest hotel. When we booked, there was no mention of an amenity fee. We later discovered a $27 fee per day for a hotel that does not have a pool or spa, an embarrassing gym, and no rooftop. On our first night, we had to change rooms upon arrival because the bathroom was dirty and had hair on the sink. Additionally, the Wi-Fi was not working. So I wonder what amenities they are referring to. A side note, when we brought this up to the assistant manager Judithe she was extremely unprofessional. There are many reviews about her unprofessionalism and this hidden fee. I would highly recommend you staying somewhere else.

I am utterly shocked this hotel was apart of the American Express Hotel Collection. I booked a presidential suite and nothing about my experience was presidential. The room had no Wi-Fi, which led to my fiancé having to take our 18-month old daughter out of the room and into the hotel lobby to work everyday we were there, which was extremely inconvenient. Speaking of the lobby, it smelled like feces the entire weekend. That is where we had to work however, due to the lack of connection in our "presidential suite." When you call the front lobby, you are put on hold for various lengths at a time until someone finally picks up. In addition to that, we had to call the lobby from our cell phones, due to our room phone not working. They said they would send an engineer up to fix it, however that never happened. The room itself is outdates, furniture and decorations wise and could use a major upgrade to fit the times of today. This is a hotel I would never recommend anyone to stay in.

Great downtown Denver hotel. Gets 4 stars for three reasons. The lobby smells funky. Don't worry, your room will not. No coffee in the room. Coffee downstairs is out around 7am. Wifi did not work when we were there, I assume an unusual event.
Rooms: Classic, very attractive rooms
Nearby activities: Lots of local restaurants & and bars. Both stadiums are nearby. Red Rocks via 45 min shuttle.

The hotel lobby smells like sewage. The elevator broke one night. I ordered breakfast brought to my room, and it was 45 minutes late. The wifi was too slow to stream anything. And they charge a $27/night "amenity fee" that is a ripoff.

It was a wonderful experience staying here.
It's very historic and dare I say even haunted?
I had an interesting paranormal experience here during my stay.
The food was wonderful, I enjoyed the pasta, salads and desserts.
It has happy hour from 4-7 and a nightcap from 8-10.
The coffee is delicious. There is no free breakfast but they do have a restaurant downstairs.
Safety: There are lots of vagrants in downtown Denver so be careful and mindful when walking around.
Walkability: The city is walkable and there are many restaurants and stores nearby. If you work in the downtown area you will be able to navigate easily to the office.

Convenient location downtown. Walked 4 blocks to a show at Buell Theater, to Union Station, 1 block to Escapeworks and 1 block to shopping and food along 16th Street Mall. Room was a little small and was disappointed the bathroom did not have rods or even hooks to hang up wet towels. Room was clean and service was fine, but I would probably choose a different property next time. Conference space in lower level was not ideal due to columns.
