Going off the 1 star reviews and the response from management in the comment section I would 100% say this is ran by a slumlord organization. I would say it is time to get ahold of the City and County of Denver to rectify these egregious practices.

Do not move here- there are extreme scammers at hand that do not care about people's well being and will make your life much harder. While living here none of the appliances worked, they would not come fix it. There is an office, but, it just for show because you won't find anyone in there ever to help you. In the winter, as you can see other residents experienced this as well, we would often lose heat and water and living conditions would not be humane for the ridiculously high rent the apartment charges. I would also feel unsafe as a woman coming home in the evenings as there were people sleeping in the laundry room or the entrance of the apartment and there would be times when they got rowdy and made me feel unsafe approaching me.I left a note that i was moving out since I could not contact anyone in the office since they never answered calls and no one was present ever. I got approved by government assistance that covered my rent for months and I believe the company stole this money which I will be going to court for. Ironically, the one time I did catch someone in the office on my earlier days of living there Dan recommended to apply to government assistance. Little did I know- it turns out I was being manipulated into their scam. They are now trying to claim I owe them thousands of dollars for rent that the government approved they sent to them.Like you see by other reviewers- this is just truly a nightmare.

I'm just visiting for the week but.. I noticedkids have been sleeping in the basement since I've been here and leaving trash/food in the gym.Someone has stolen some weights, apparently, and bums hang out in the stairwell.Otherwise, seems like it would be a neat place to live. The location is excellent ??

Heat is constantly down, appliances break, elevators constantly down. management is incredibly cheap and does not care about residents at all. They refuse to invest in the property and only do patch fixes. This is a PREDATORY landlord. I would not recommend anyone to live at this dump.

Another Horrible Update - whoever said the new building manager was making changes is a paid off liar because nothing is changed. My faucet on my kitchen sink has been broken for more than a month making it near impossible to do dishes. My heat hasn’t worked once despite putting in maintenance requests to get it fixed every single day it’s freezing, and no one from the “new team” has even given out an email to reach them out with concerns. Just as much of a slum lord run building as ever and they should be disgusted for the conditions they force us to live in. Update - they leave you without hot water for 3+ days at a time and don’t respond to any emails/calls/forms of communication about when it will be up and running. The stairwell floods from and unknown source and they are forced to wet vacuum it as late as 1am which is loud enough to be heard on every floor. The lobby and front entrance is constantly leaking from the ceiling and it seems like nothing is being done about it it. Once you move in you will never hear from anyone who works here again. I spoke with women who were walking in and out of the leasing office that worked there and they said they read emails from residents but don’t respond to them. So far I’ve convinced over 10 people who were waiting for tours in the lobby to leave and look elsewhere because of how horrible this building is. I’ve also heard from residents on the 2nd floor that it is infested with bed bugs but the building refuses to address the situation. Whenever I have guests over now I greet them by saying “Welcome to Hell” but I think hell has hot water so it might be a downgrade from that.BELIEVE THE ONE STAR REVIEWS!! - I was supposed to move into my unit June 9th, when I walked in there were poop stains all over the rug, the place was dirty, and there was so much trash on my balcony I had to fill up a trash bag and throw it out. When I turned on the lights for the first time the switch was popping and buzzing so loudly that maintenance said it was unsafe and turned off my power for the first 4 days I was there until it could be fixed. The dishwasher exploded and flooded my unit the first time I used it because it was clogged with food from the pervious tenant. The oven and stove did not work and when I put in a maintenance request I came home to my oven gone along with all the pans I was storing inside of it. Maintenance has been amazing at responding but I have yet to hear back at all about the condition of my unit being completely unlivable for my first four days. No one is ever in the office to talk to even during their “open” hours, I can’t leave a message for anyone, and no one has responded by email. If you move in here you will be disrespected, given a disgusting unit, and ignored by the people who run it as they try to fill up more units with unsuspecting renters. The property managers are slummy, scummy, and ugly hearted. If you can avoid this place live literally anywhere else, I promise this place isn’t worth it.

I've put off writing this for a while because I didn't know where to start. My time at Baker Tower was one of the absolute worst periods of my life. When I first moved in, my fridge didn't hold temp so all my food spoiled. Even after getting a thermometer and telling management, they made excuses like that my fridge was too full, I had the door open too much, etc. My oven didn't work the day I moved in, and it took an entire month of constant begging for maintenance to replace it. The water was out constantly, or we would just not have hot water in the coldest part of winter. It was impossible to regulate the temperature in your own apartment as they ran the boiler at full blast all winter to try to keep the pipes from bursting (they still did repeatedly and flooded the lobby). Because of this, it was 80+ degrees in my apartment when it was 30 degrees out even with all of my windows and patio door open. The worst part of all of it was that management simply did not exist. I suspected I had bed bugs as soon as I moved into the apartment, and I grew increasingly suspicious after several months living there. I told management I was certain I had them, but they said there were none. Even after I found a live bed bug crawling on my sheet in the middle of the night and killed it which I brought to the office and showed them, they told me there was no proof it came from Baker and accused me of planting it. The bed bugs spread to my boyfriend's apartment before I knew I had them, and they then accused me of bringing them in even though I had been going to his apartment for months before moving to Baker and the bites started immediately after I moved in. I literally had to leave work early to try to catch someone in the office because Phyllis avoided my calls and emails. After months of ineptitude and neglect in which I didn't even live there to avoid being bitten, I broke my lease 5 months early and moved out to save my mental health. I cannot advise against living here enough. This building should be leveled and Maxx should be bankrupted. They completely redefined what a slumlord is for me and truly lessened my faith in humanity.

I'm not one to leave bad reviews but my experience with this management group is ridiculous. Many calls and emails with no response whatsoever. I walked in to try and talk to someone in person and there was never anyone in the office. On the application i submitted it required a $150 holding fee so i paid that and after that I got no responses. Please do not move here, im very disappointed because i liked the building and loved the location. I see the other bad reviews with a auto generated message from the property managers saying please walk into the office and speak to someone. LOL i hope you guys get the clue to not move here. Also, all the good reviews are so clearly fake.

60 yr old building , they bring in around 170k gross rent per month, I think it would be wise to just renovate the entire thing to keep maxx properties reputation somewhat alive.60 yr old building so there are issues every day. Attract new tenets with lower lease and increase it if they resign a year later. Just a prime example of real estate. Even if they renovate it , rent increases for tenants because money can't come out of their pockets.

Terrible building. Water out monthly for days at a time, elevators always down, management is incompetent, laundry facilities dirty if functional, bed bug infestation, maintenance takes weeks to respond, no security, no one has been in leasing office for months. Avoid at all costs!!

It’s so funny to see “The Team at Baker Tower Apartments” responding to the low-star reviews with “Please stop by our office.” Because there is literally never anyone in the office, getting in contact with someone on the team is one of the most frustrating things I have had to do. It’s very stressful if you misplace your key fob or have a question about your charges, and there’s no way to get a hold of someone that can help. I have been told that management neglects this property in this way because they are ignored by corporate, but I worry it is just poor leadership within Maxx Properties Denver office. I know they regularly staff their other buildings in the area but seem to give Baker Tower the short end of the stick. Hot tip, if you can’t get ahold of someone at Baker Tower, call a different Maxx Properties building. The lack of prioritization that Baker Tower receives leaves tenants being treated inhumanely.Anyways, enough of the frustrations with management. I really love this building. As someone interested in engineering and architecture, I love living somewhere that was imagined and created long before I existed. The area’s history is super cool, and living on the west side of the building, I had one of the most gorgeous views overlooking Baker from my balcony. This brings me back to my frustrations about how this property is being managed. Baker Tower is an old building that needs some time and love invested into it. There should be planning and dedication to longevity regarding repairs, which is not the treatment this building is getting. Issues with the elevators, water boiler, mail room, and electricity are being jury-rigged and avoided; Leaving tenants with flooded apartments, no hot water, no heat, inability to receive packages, and terrible messes of cables hanging around the building. Oh yeah, the washers and dryers aren’t reliable, and the gym equipment is from the 80s and needs updating.I really hope I see Maxx Properties sell this building to someone who cares about their tenants’ quality of life and takes care of the building itself. How it is run, cared for, and staffed at this point does not equate to the price they charge for rent at Baker Tower. It appears that they have lowered rent since I signed a year ago. These prices make more sense for what I was getting out of my apartment. When I finally spoke to the building manager about possibly lowering my renewal price to keep me in the building, they refused to negotiate. She said, “People who sign at the lower rate that is advertised now will eventually be raised to what you are paying, which is market value.” I paid $400/month more than my apartment is currently listed for on their website. BEWARE! If you sign at these lower rates, be ready to run in a year when they inevitably raise your rent.I have never dealt with landlords scummier. Maxx Properties and “The Team at Baker Tower” are the lowest of the low.

Do not apply to move in this roach infested dump. I applied ($139 fee) and was approved but then and tried to follow up I couldn't get a hold of anyone for 10 days other than a temp who could only forward my messages that were ignored. Eventually I gave up and moved on to another apartment and when I asked for my application fee back they initially ignored me, then they insulted me, then lied and capped off by stealing my application fee. Maxx Properties at Baker Tower and Phyllis Aragon are trash!!!!!

They will respond with, "our top priority is..." but don't let that fool you. I used to like living here, but this place took a nose dive during the pandemic. NO ONE is ever in the office, though they say they're supposed to be there Monday-Saturday. And the staff they DO have go through a revolving door; you'll try to get help from one person, they say they'll handle your issue, then you never see them again, and your issue remains unresolved.Their billing system is HORRIBLE.It's sad because although the building is old, it has the potential to be a GREAT place to live with some changes, fixes, and updates. 1. Get reliable, responsive staff and MAINTAIN them. 2. Fix the call box that has been broken for at LEAST a year. 3. Enclose the parking lot to deter vandalism (I've seen at least two cars with their windows smashed out; this didn't happen elsewhere, as the glass was in the parking lot) 4. Get a better billing system! 5. Install lockers for packages & make it easier for delivery folks to enter the building. 6. Update the apartments! 7. Fix the boilers for good. 8. Respond promptly to maintenance requests. The Baker area is a great place to live; this building could truly be a highlight of this area if Maxx Properties really tried.

Don’t even bother trying to rent here. Had a scheduled appointment and nobody ever showed or was even at the leasing office. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. Listen to the other reviews. I asked other tenants going in and out the building and they all said this office is horrible with everything.

Their application portal is broken, I've tried to call them several times and got no answer. I also scheduled a tour, and the landlord didn't bother to show up. Definitely an absentee landlord who needs a real job instead of squatting on property built 60 years ago.
