This place is amazing! The views are great and the people who own it are so amazing! Never felt more at home. I wanna live there!
Rooms: Felt like living in a cabin. Which they do have by the way! So clean and comfortable! Loved it!

Called Alaxander Lake lodge in advance and made a reservation for a cabin over the phone for my girlfriends birthday weekend. I arrived without a email confirmation and I was told they didn’t have my reservation. So after doing some research they found me and all of my information for the following weekend. To make it up to me they’ll give me a motel room at a discount from $160 to $125. Great but the Expedia price and the price I was quoted for the cabin was $125. Not sure about the pricing but didn’t seem like any concessions were made for their screw up. There’s a 5:30 deadline for dinner service. As I sat there waiting I noticed a family that came in at 5:35 and the server asked “can I help you?” How do you answer that embarrassing question when you don’t know about a 5:30 deadline? They responded we’re here for dinner, Dah. They weren’t kicked out but informed that it would be about an hour wait. To my surprise they excepted that. I waited for over 45 minutes for a burger and polish sausage. Too long. The next morning I walked into the lodge and was greeted by the owner, not with a good morning but she immediate looked down at my 20 oz Yeti mug and was told I’m not allowed to get coffee in that. I said it’s already 1/2 full, I just want to top it off. When I approached the coffee pot counter I saw the sign on the wall stating that “No outside coffee containers allowed.” I should’ve taken a walking tour when I checked in so I could read all of the signs, and there’s a lot that explain all the rules. When I checked out an hour and a half later I made it a point to let the girl know that telling the clients that no outside mugs are allowed is embarrassing and I dropped $10 on the counter and she said No, No, the coffee is free. Well the 8 oz styrofoam cup is but not the larger mug brought in by the customer. I know what a pot of coffee costs and it’s Pennies so because I didn’t even take that much, Really, this is what’s important after I spent over $200 for a motel room and a burger meal.
(After response from Lodge, I didn't confuse the dates on the reservation, It was my girlfriends birthday. You made that mistake and I never said I was staying two nights, I said i would think about it but I didn't have a definitive answer about it at the time of check in. If you charge my card for an addition night I'll file a dispute with the credit card company as an unauthorized charge. The correct response as a business owner would be to except some responsibility for your mistake in making the reservation and take that dictatorial sign down that prevents guests from grabbing a coffee to go with the container of their choosing. It doesn't cost that much and I promise less rules will go a long way.)

Beautiful setting and views. Cozy. Comfortable and clean basic rooms in the lodge. Worth it for upgrade breakfast in the restaurant.

Stayed here with a friend a while back. The cabins are eh, the rules they try to impose are just plain ridiculous. The staff are not friendly. I'd never stay here again, and only did so because my friend invited me. Born and raised in the Grand Valley and have never heard of a great experience here. I have also advised my friend of the best lodge to go to, since she was not satisfied either. You're welcome Alexander Lake Lodge. Your response goes to show your terrible customer service skills, so thank you for showing that to everyone!
Response: Eh means not good, not bad just there "existing". You don't upkeep your cabins, it's obvious from the outside to inside, so they are "eh" It's funny you saye Expedia, because it wasn't booked on Expedia. And you can't say you gave an upgrade, because you don't even know who my friend is, and it was the same cabin she booked for her family of 8. You have no record of my name, so don't act like you have any idea of the booking information. Also rules- yeah there are rules but telling my children not to play in an area on public land, is not a rule you can enforce. Y'all should sell to an American Family that can run a business the right way and not have our Grand Mesa reputation ruined because of your establishment. Or research american ethics and morals, as it seems to differ from Polish ethics and morals. Have a great day.

What great experience. The cabin was spotless and the beds were comfy. True to the nature of the high country in the spring we had a little snow come in the evening but everything melted off by mid-morning. We went the second to the last week of May and the lake that our cabin overlooked had not thawed, but the owners were able to give us directions to a lake a few minutes away where the fish were biting.
I would caution everyone not familiar with living in high altitude environments to make sure that you bring warm clothing (it gets cold at night) and stay well hydrated. I would also recommend calling the lodge to talk with them about the local conditions before booking.

The Good: the place itself is beautiful, the cabins are small (#4)but have all the basic needs.
The Bad: The staff, just Rude plain and simple. Wi-Fi only available in the lobby No in the Cabins.
The worst: the so-called "Breakfast" that basically is an option of tasteless coffee or tea. Or the "upgrade" breakfast for $10 that is just 1 bisquet with gravy and 1 egg (really bad) and some stale cookies in a Ziploc, No sausage, no bacon, no pancakes and everything else advertised.

Best winter lodge in the mesa. The owners are really nice and the cabins are cozy. Bring some slippers or Crocs for the cabins since they are rustic and the floors can be cold in the middle of the night. Have stayed there at least 5 times in the past 3 years. Always come back for more. I cannot say enough nice things about our experiences.
Nearby activities: Cross country skiing and snowshoe access is great, the GMNC groomed trails (day use fee required) at ward lake are reachable on skis by following the snowmobile corridor to the skinned horse trail/ward trail around deep ward lake. (We usually cut across Alexander lake to the west end and you can spot the blue post of the ski trail on the south side of deep ward lake across from the summer use bathrooms) Also the mesa is dotted with skiing and snowshoe opportunities, at the mesa lakes trails and the skyway/county line trails.

The lodge is rustic and quiet, owned and operated by an extended family originally from Poland. I stayed with friends in a lodge room. The room was comfortable, clean and had great wi-fi and heat control during the winter. The area is beautiful! We were there to x-country ski and snowshoe - all within a few miles (and right out the back door of the lodge). Note that during the winter, the lodge rooms may not be directly accessible by car due to snow pack. Sylvester was so helpful bringing our gear/bags up by sled. However, I don't suggest a lodge room in the winter for someone unable to walk uphill in the snow.We were part of a large group, so Anna and crew prepared buffet dinners for us that were very good. There is a bar and dining area to relax, play games and gather with friends.Thank you, Anna, Sylvester, Joe and crew. I hope to return next year!

Food & drinks: Alexander Lake Losge is a great place to grab a boys to eat and an adult beverage. The lodge itself is very dark and rustic. They have a fantastic burger with very generous portions. Drink selection is limited, but it's enough for those of us with a simple palette. We stop here for lunch when we go snowmobiling on the Grand Mesa, and it doesn't disappoint.
