Don't show yourself as a business with hours 1 day a week and never answer the phone and when someone shows up with their kids to look for a dog your "building" is the new post office where you get mail.Clearly you are tax payer funded because you clearly have zero interest in rescuing or adopting dogs. You advertise plenty of "adoptable" dogs but refuse to respond, answer the phone, have no business location and the 1 day a week you claim to be open there is no office and no one even answers the phone that day either.A real business would be bankrupt and out of business if ran remotely close to the way your running this tax payer funded scam.Would be zero stars if I could.Clearly you work zero days a week, no one EVER ANSWERED THE PHONE and there is no officeProbably just tax player embezzlement scam of some sort. Will look into options to fix this tax payer funded scam with my vote.PatheticYou claim the address of your business is a P.O.Box then label it correctly on your website to avoid these issues

Note- the only things that should matter with a canine rescue are: -do they love the animals and do their best to give them a good home? -Are those working for/volunteering with the organization generally pleasant to deal with? -Do they operate with integrity and do what they say they are going to do? The answer here is a yes for all three. Highly recommend.Recurring trend on the negative reviews here is just people who get apps denied. Sour grapes. Guess what, I got my app denied somewhere else for a reason I thought was sort of silly but who cares! The criteria was there plain as day, I just didn’t notice it. You know what I did? I applied somewhere else (here) and found an amazing animal to add to our family. The rescue took care of getting her up to date on everything she needed and even covered surgery that was needed prior to finalizing adoption. Those that I dealt with were kind and courteous and obviously care very much about the animals. If you get your application denied, it’s not personal. Literally. They don’t “know” you, so all they can do is set up criteria using many different experiences. It’s the best way to do this. If you don’t meet the criteria here… apply somewhere that you do, drive over to dumb friends league, etc. there are *many* dogs that need adopting. My experience with this group was excellent.

This organization is extremely hard to go through for adopting a dog. I understand the agencies need to do their due diligence to make sure that a family is fit to take care of an animal, so as not to have the animal returned. But it seems that the coordinators are in the business of just saying no at every turn which is not fair to the foster parent or the dogs needing forever homes. They are forcing people just to go to breeders on craigslist. We fit all the criteria of making a perfect forever home, except for our nine-year-old dog wasn’t young enough to make a proper playmate…. If our dog was still a puppy, we wouldn’t be in the market for one. It just didn’t make any sense.

I had an easy time adopting my Doberman from here once they responded. It took them a few weeks to respond. It's great to save dogs and find loving families for them. But the owner is really not a considerate person. I had to give back my dog because I couldn't afford the medical expenses he needed. It crushed me and I still miss him. But the owner refuses to respond to me when I ask how he's doing. How cold and bitter is her heart to not respond and let me know? I've sent 3 messages to her and no response. It's so sad.

I tried to adopt after raising labs all my life I ran across Tex and Lab mix. They rejected my applicaton in 10 minutes because my other Lab is not neutered. You guys are complete IDIOTS and have NO clue what is right and wrong. You also rejected a friend of mine of trying to adopt because of a recent family tradegy. What the bleep does that have anything to do with wanting to adopt?!!!!Complete IDIOTS AND I HAVE MANY OTHER WORDS FOR THIS CANINE RESCUE CRAP ORGANIZATION!Contact me anytime you want

We have been looking for another dog as an addition to the one we have. We found one today through DCCR that was perfect. Filled out the extensive application and were immediately denied due to not having a fenced in yard. We have had our dog for 6 years (same as the one we saw today, literally identical) and are beyond good about taking him out, socializing him and taking care of him. We are extremely good pet owners but guess that doesn’t matter. almost everyone in our townhome area owns a dog or 2. Some are big dogs and we’ve seen a variety of breeds. Makes me sad that solely based on not having a yard is the reason we were denied when we could have very well been a good fit. We have friends with dogs and yards who never walk them cause they just let them out. I hope you don’t overlook great owners because of this!

I wish I'd of looked here before adopting from here. There are so many negative reviews - the only reason I am adding is so that you know in 2023 they are still doing this. ...They have not cleaned up their act. My story: They bought my puppy from a puppy broker in Iowa who has the same address as a breeder. The rescue told me the only reason a breeder gives up these pups is because they get too old to sell and have another litter on the way, and the breeder will euthanize the pups. When I called the broker/ breeder they insisted they never would do this. ever. So the only reason I can now conclude: when the dog was born the breeder knew he wouldn't make it to a year old (which he did not). I spent $1,300 to purchase the dog from the rescue and thousands more to try and save him. My family is heartbroken. I don't understand how a 'humane' 'rescue' could do this to people...they looked my 10 year old son in the eye and let this happen. If you look up on the internet there is a channel four news article where they get busted buying dogs from mill auctions and reselling ...at a higher price in 2017. They're still doing this. These people should be put in jail.

I would highly advise people not to adopt from Douglas County Canine Rescue. It definitely seems like a huge scam. We went in to adopt a companion and they told us that we would have to adopt 2 dogs. I told them we have an almost 13 year old pit and plan on getting another dog when she passes. The owner or whoever I talked to at the event was so unnecessarily rude and seemed like she had no care for the dogs whatsoever.

My husband and I have adopted from Douglas County Canine Rescue twice. We adopted huskies which are known to be a difficult breed. The rescue was very selective and cautious about who the huskies were adopted to, and I really appreciate that given how much work huskies can be. Their adoption process is strict and thorough which can put some people off, but it just shows they’re really in it for the animals. They seem to be a great organization who does their best to place and save as many dogs as they can.

I had a great experience with DCCR, we got our amazing husky named Montie. We fostered his brother and sister and we chose him from that litter. All the staff works so hard placing their pups in homes that are safe loving and fits the diverse dogs breeds. Ashlyn was very helpful and friendly and the whole staff made us feel very comfortable when we were fostering and adopting. we love our pup and are definitely going to recommend DCCR whenever we have the chance. :)

I had a great experience with DCCR, we got our beautiful Koda in 2019. We fostered 4 pups, and chose one from that litter. All the staff work so hard placing their pups in safe homes where they can have the lives they deserve! Rachelle was especially helpful throughout the process! We love our pup!

I came across DCCR a few years ago after I lost my boy to cancer. I wanted another pup and I adopted our boy MisterMack. Since then, I became a foster and Foster Failed twice with Bosco and Amani. I highly recommend DCCR, for all that they do for the pups. It takes a village to support them and these amazing dogs. They have always been great to me, my family and our dogs. They provide you with all the information you need to know about your dog. They are very thorough with their background check and they are very professional. They always make sure that the pup is the right fit for you and your family. I love DCCR and will always recommend them to anyone who asks. Thank you DCCR for my babies.
