I utilized the services of Linda Neefe this past year for my tax preparation needs. I'm an independent contractor and I've got some fairly complicated tax needs (well, they're complicated to me anyway) and there's no way I trust myself to do my own taxes. I'm an artist and I'm not so good with numbers and the IRS is wayyyy too ruthless and greedy for me to want to contend and make any mistakes so I prefer to leave that mess to the professionals. In the past I've used H&R Block and the results have been inconsistent. I move around a lot and depending on the location the service has either been stellar or lacking. When I lived in Arkansas I felt like I knew more about taxes than the lady doing my taxes. She seemed unconfident and unknowledgeable and kept talking about how she's "Giving the tax thing a go because she needed a good second job." Nope. Nope, nope, nope. I need a confident professional to handle my taxes. The only thing that IS consistent with H&R Block is that the price of the Tax Prep was always outrageous and oftentimes I'd leave with no tax return at all because the fee was so high. So I've wised up and started adulting like a pro ... I always use a CPA to prepare my taxes. Having just moved to Caí±on City I deferred to the suggestions of several of my family members who live here. My Aunt quickly suggested her mentor and her own personal CPA, Linda Neefe. My Aunt studied Finance and Bookkeeping, so her opinion meant a lot to me. As it turns out, most of my family here use her services ... even a few family members from out of state! Linda is very professional and straightforward, and I'm confident that she doesn't miss a detail when it comes to your taxes. She gets right down to business and is really knowledgeable about the gigantic mess that is tax law. Taxes make me so nervous that I get nauseous just thinking about them, but Linda really set my mind at ease once everything was in her capable hands. It took Linda about two weeks to prepare my taxes, which didn't bother me one bit. It's not an in-and-out operation like the franchised Tax Prep places, but I prefer it that way. That way I feel as though my CPA has all the time she needs to look over my information and do the best she can do instead of having other appointments to be concerned about. In the past I've felt rushed out because my tax prep usually takes longer than your average person and I've had some weird circumstances that have baffled some tax prep agents so I think it's best that she works on it on her time. When they were done they were very professionally prepared in a folder with all the information being clearly displayed. She went over my tax burden with me and made suggestions as to how to be better prepared for next year (I'm still kind of new to this independent contractor stuff). She answered a lot of questions I had about my taxes, too. She gave me the time I needed to feel comfortable going forward and I was satisfied with the services she gave me. On top of all of that, I found her services to be more than reasonable ... less than half of what I've paid at H&R Block. As long as I'm living in Caí±on City I'll be utilizing Linda's Tax Preparation services. It's quickly becoming a family tradition!
