The staff treat my senior dog like she's their own. I couldn't be any happier with the quality of care, and how kind everyone is here. (There's even a shy resident cat who will peek in sometimes to check on us.)

We were in Salida for a prolonged Thanksgiving holiday when unfortunately our puppy golden retriever got Parvo. I had called well over 20 vets in neighboring cities with no luck, and Dr Kettering was the only one with an emergency line. He called me back within 15 minutes of me leaving a voicemail the Friday after Thanksgiving, and was super quick to get me into his office to get our pup taken care of. I ended up doing 2x trips a day to his office the following 2.5 days before heading back to Colorado Springs (note that his office was supposed to be closed each of those days for the holiday), and he and his Vet Tech were excellent with every visit pumping our dog with fluids and antibiotics, etc, to keep him alive. Both times were well outside of reasonable business hours as well. If Dr K & his team hadn’t taken the time out of their holidays to help our pup, he almost certainly would have died. We are SO grateful for Dr K and his team, the professionalism they had and the advice they gave. If I could give them more stars, I would. Exceptional work

I'm just really tired of mountain businesses that have terrible customer service. I have taken my dogs here for about a year now. I had my dogs records sent over from my previous vet back in Georgia. For this whole year the doctor has been prescribing a medicine to one of my dogs based on the previous vet's diagnosis. I still have refills left on the prescription however they stopped authorizing them because "the previous vet didn't provide enough information," and I would need to bring my dog in for them to see why he needs the medicine. I don't see why there was enough information before but now all of the sudden there isn't and I have to make a special trip (1 hour away) to get a medicine that my dog needs. Also, if there wasn't enough information then why didn't we handle that during one of the many other visits? They also stopped approving another medication but then they said they would call it in and they never did. Yeah, denying my dog their medicine because you can't get your office in order is just not a great way to show that you care for animals.

On a road-trip with my 13 year old lab and he started having issues breathing. I literally thought I was going to have to put him down. The incredible receptionist Darlene greeted us and was able to get us in to see Dr. Kettering who did some tests. He told me it was due to the elevation and to keep him calm and comfortable. He told us to stay at altitude for a few more days to get acclimated. Well we did and Fred, my lab, started doing so much better. We made it back home at sea level about a week later and all is good. Thanks so much to everyone at Buena Vista Veterinary Clinic for the wonderful support and care? Thanks Darlene for calling and checking on us❤️

Last year my dog injured herself and needed a massive amount of stitches, which happened less than 24 hours after I moved to the area. Dr. Kettering was the only vet willing to take the emergency, and I’m so thankful because he did such an amazing job stitching her up. I loved how calm he was in the situation and how confident he was that she wouldn’t have a scar, I knew right then my girl was in the best hands. She healed perfectly and she has no scar. I am so grateful beyond words that he is here.
