I bought some wagyu ground beef that had the expiration date on of March 14th 2025. A few days after buying it the beef turned brown and had become spoiled with a very foul smell. I went to the store to ask for a refund on the beef. The women who originally helped was very kind. She asked if I had a receipt number. I told her I did not but that it was stored under a phone number that was part of a Safeway membership (they are supposed to be able to pull up your order with the phone number). She called over her supervisor to help figure it out. He was immediately hostile with me and ended up blaming me and my fridge for the reason that the ground beef went bad. He also basically tried to accuse me of extorting from them. I told him that I had a history of the purchase stored on the app that was on my phone. He told me he didn’t care and that it was my fault that the beef went bad. I saw another review of someone having a similar experience with those meat. I also tried to call the store when I got home but there was no answer from their costumer service.

Items were on a different price as the price tag. Staff can’t help me with the problem. I had to ask for a return and refund. Without asking, the staff refunded the cash to me instead of going back to my original payment card and wouldn’t redo it for me. Now I’m getting all these useless coins

They have a really wonderful pharmacy here with exceptional staff. The grocery store staff are also all very kind and helpful. I love that this Safeway has a large selection of organic and all natural products

This isn't a bad store overall, but there is a problem with the raw meat they sell. Once, I bought some ground beef and it had been not even 24 hours since I had purchased it that it turned this awful brown color. There was also a foul smell and a nasty liquid pooling all around it. Twice, I’ve bought chicken from here that has started to smell funky one day after purchase, along with a strange orange liquid that it started generating. Both times, it made my entire fridge stink and I had to throw them out. Just to be clear, none of this meat was expired. All of it went weird at least 2 days before the “best by” or “sell by” date. More recently, I purchased some honey ham for sandwiches on December 29th. I went to make a sandwich on the 30th and I noticed a foul smell as soon as I opened the package. I checked the expiration date. “December 27” it said. I think it’s wrong for a store to be selling food that is already expired, and I'm sure about these dates. I don’t think that I should be checking to ensure food isn’t as expired. I always check to see if milk, eggs, raw meat, or other things like that are going to expire soon, but ham typically lasts up to a week after opening the package. I unfortunately had to throw out an entire pound of ham. I could have made sandwiches for myself and my family for a week, but now I’m unable to. I don’t think I will be shopping here again, but if I do, I’ll be carefully checking expiration dates on all items and avoiding any raw meat like the plague, as it would ultimately be a waste of money to purchase any.

6:07am. I went there to buy groceries and I needed to go to the restroom. Asked them to unlock it and Laura said they don’t open the restroom at this time. Wow, what a surprise!

I went in with my husband, I'm five months pregnant, I had to use the bathroom and went to the back of the store. No one was there so I went to guest services. No one was there. So I went to self checkout, no one was there. Despite being understaffed the restroom and isles were very clean, not a great place to stop to pee but they have a whole section of food that is ready to eat cook and heat. Very helpful and delicious.
