I wrote a 5 star review 4 years ago for this facility. Today changed my mind.
A dog we adopted from this same facility recently passed, and we thought it only fitting we donate all her effects to the facility.
At least $1000 in toys, beds, medication, food, etc. We didn't even ask for a receipt.
We came during a slow time, not a single person in the lobby. Both front desk people staring at screens. I tell first receptionist guy we want to drop off donations. Shows 0 enthusiasm, points us to the next door desk.
Same thing, I walk up and the guy couldn't be bothered to look up from his screen. Told him we had a lot of donations. Without looking at me, says just drop it all in this tiny cart. I said, we have a lot of stuff including meds. He then proceeds to huff and puff to help me unload the cart that had 2 light bags in it already. We bring in all the donations on the cart ourselves. Still won't look up from his computer. I say ok, guess we'll just leave these here then. He says yup, gives us a thumbs up, and goes back to ignoring us and throws the beds on the floor after we walk off.
As we left I told my family member that Longmont Humane will be getting all our donations from now on, because they at least show appreciation when we drop things off and offer to help bring it in.
We have donated thousands of dollars worth of equipment to Humane Society, so we've been doing this awhile. Boulder will not be on our list anymore because the staff are just so rude and crass.
And this is not the first time we have received this kind of attitude here, this was just the most egregious.
I feel sorry for the animals stuck in this shelter if these are the people advocating for their adoption. It's very sad. The front desk folks, volunteer or not, need to be put through some compassion and personality classes.

Not only do they provide top notch veterinary care, all the profits go back to the Humane Society. So by taking my rescue dogs to them, we are in turn paying it forward for other dogs who need to be rescued. Everyone is very friendly and I believe they also offer a sliding scale for those who have pets that need care but the owner is unable to pay the full amount. My dogs actually wag their tails when we pull up so that tells you everything! As a rescue pet owner of 7 animals, I highly recommend them.

As always since I've been going to the HSBV vet clinic since 2004, they've been consistently professional, competent and compassionate. Even though I no longer work in Boulder, I still bring all my pets to BVHS vet clinic to ensure they get the care they need and deserve.

I recently had my dog neutered at this place. He was well taken care of during his stay. When he came home he recovered quickly and was back to normal after 3 days. Also his stitches were very well concealed. The surgeon did a great job.

I adopted a dog from the shelter a couple months back named Blizzard. He has turned out to be an amazing dog, but the shelter on the other hand has many issues. Upon receiving blizzard I was informed he was neutered (as it’s illegal not to in shelters), vaccinated and ready to go. Once he arrived home I immediately groomed him to wash off the shelter smell and found he was in fact not neutered. I called the shelter in shock how they adopted out an intact dog and they offered to neuter him for free. We did so and had trouble with the vet. They had forgotten to enter his details in the system so when I went to go pick him up from surgery they could not find him. Thankfully they remembered which dog I was talking about and I brought him back home. Recently I took him to the vet for his first check up because he was getting ready to start daycare, and upon looking through his records I had saw he didn’t have a single vaccination, they never did a heart worm testing on him, or any kind of vet work. That was my final straw. How could a rescue be so irresponsible to adopt out a dog without any sort of vet work/check first. He’s turned out to be an amazing dog but I’m very lucky he’s in good health since he never got looked at by them. I unfortunately have reported them to PAFCA due to their irresponsibility with these dogs. Hopefully the inspection they’ll be receiving encourages them to follow policy more accurately. Never will adopt from them again and never will recommend them. They’re lucky they didn’t adopt Blizzard out to someone with backyard breeding intentions as he’s a purebred Aussie and could’ve easily been adopted by someone with ill intentions.

We take all of our loved oness here to be cremated. The cost is a lot lower than the vets and you get a beautiful cedar box with so much love inside, a card, and a beautiful bag. The care and compassion they show toward a family who has lost a bestfriend is amazing! He was not only the family dog but he was a bestfriend, a true member of the family. His name was Milo and was taken suddenly from us at the age of 8 years and 10 months. He was that dog that you never thought would leave you but only had a life expectancy of 9-12 years, who knew? He was the king of his castle, he had a seat at the dinner table and had better table manners than the kids. we will never forget him!!!! Remember they’re not only dogs they are members of your family…

I think there needs to be supervision at all levels to promote honesty, and a hiring of people who present as good charactered. Had to relinquish my rare top quality dogs because my parents aren't reasonable. I certainly worry about the safety and overall health of my animals, and keeping their records correct. In addition, the girl at the desk questioned my judgement about a grain-free diet. It prevents yeast infections, as I told her. I also said Lucille can get an upset stomach from a grain diet. That relates to a sensitivity to Bti bacteria from genetically engineered grains, etc. Isn't it sad when people who are not vets, try to make decisions? The reason behind the "non-GMO" labels. Volunteers should be trained NOT to press down hard on dogs' backsides to teach them to sit.
