This place is an absolute gem! However, it is NOT a typical bike shop, take a little time to understand what they are about before strolling in assuming they'll be ready to just fix whatever your problem is. You kind of get what you give here, a willingness to learn and engage with process is rewarded. I highly recommend checking out their website to learn about all of the great things they offer and amazing things they do for the community.

Went in for the first time today and Dylan literally helped me build a bike from scratch since I couldn’t find what I was looking for. I’m new to the cycling community and this was such an awesome experience. Thank you!!

It's the back of the ship where you can find that last piece for your project. Thanks!

We're new to the area and came here to buy bikes yesterday. We told them we're on a top floor with no elevator so we can't bring our bikes inside at night. They said to use a u lock and a cable to lock them up. We woke up this morning to a cut u lock and stolen bike. Called to let them know that was bad advice and they acted like we were stupid for following it.

Bikes are pretty overpriced! a used surly ghost grappler is not worth almost $3000 and it’s offensive to sell it at that price.

They're happy to rip you off if they get the chance! You hope you can trust people to do a decent job, but they sold my girlfriend a bike that was barely put together, the wrong size, handlebars off center, seat not even attached. When asked to exchange the bike, which was barely used, they refused. Frustrating they won't honor or correct their mistakes. The staff is generally inexperienced volunteers and often unfriendly.

I ran into the shop just before closing and quickly picked out a replacement chain for a bmx bike. I accidentally picked out a narrow gauge chain meant for an 8 or 9 speed. After realizing it was too narrow to fit I took it back the next day and they let me exchange it free of charge. Those guys are always so helpful, even when it’s me that made the dumb mistake. Love this shop

Having lived and rode for 10 years in a major metropolitan area with nothing like Community Cycles (a place to learn about how to work on bikes, purchase inexpensive parts/apparel, etc), CC is amazing.Without it, a lot more people in Boulder would probably be priced-out of enjoying cycling. Community Cycles makes so many basic things - doing a tune-up (it's all DIY), replacing a seatpost or buying a tire or pair of gloves - 1000x's more affordable....Pretty much all the negative reviews of CC seem to go back to the poster not understanding what CC is, comparing it to a traditional bike shop and or failing to grasp the services it does provide (DIY maintenance, classes, inexpensive tools, parts, clothing, etc).Community Cycles is not for everyone. But for those who understand what it is (and isn’t) and take advantage of the myriad of services it offers - it really is a gem ?

This is a great resource for bicyclists! Very relaxed atmosphere. Seth and Dex are great! Really helpful and friendly. Zero upsell or pressure to buy. Ask for help and you’ll totally get it!

I have been a member of Community Cycles since 2020, when I moved to Boulder. People working there are always friendly and I pass by often after my rides to look for some parts. It's for this reason that I leave a 5 star review. I love the work that they do. However, today I had my first bad experience. I asked if I could drop the fork of my bike because I wanted to buy one from them and needed to check the dimensions. I didn't ask for any help, tools, or bike stand. I was just being polite to let them know that I was going to disassemble my fork (I had my own multitool and it's a very easy job for a rim brake road bike). To my disbelief, the guy in charge asked me why I had to remove my fork. I explained that I needed to check the dimensions (e.g., steerer tube diameter) to know if the other fork was going to be a good fit. It seems that he didn't like my reply, so he said that I should pay for using any tools and bike stand. I told him that I was not going to make use of any of their tools or bike stand. He then said that I had 30 min to do whatever I had to do (it was around 2PM, so they were not closing). At that point I just left because I didn't feel welcome. Any bike shop or cycling club should make people feel good, regardless if you are new to the sport or an experienced racer.

A coworker recommended community cycles for a good beginner bicycle. I wasn't really sure what to expect as i had no knowledge of cycling. Everyone there was super friendly and had a lot of knowledge. They had a great selection of bicycles and it's nice to know a real mechanic has gone over them and replaced anything that needed replacing. I ended up purchasing an ebike at a reasonable price that was in great shape. I'll definitely be returning when I'm ready to buy a trail bike.

Haven’t been to their shop before but they were so nice when today I showed up in front of them after an accident. I was scraped and bruised pretty badly with my bike handle bar twisted by 45 degree and cannot fix it myself. At first I was told that there’s no service today. However when I mentioned to them that I had an accident, someone came and helped me twist back my handlebar, free of charge, so I can bike back to deal with my bruises and scrapes. I really, really appreciate the help. Thank you!
