Small gift shop with Chatauqua souvenirs and candles and such by local makers. Muffins and cookies to go with your coffee. Tiny space, easily fills up.

Nice place to get some good ice cream after a long hike! It was very delicious. The staff there were very friendly and helpful. There is a nice sitting area right next to the store where you can rest.

As a chef I was kind of disappointed that the sandwich were cooked with a microwaves, I thought it was homemade sandwich but it has been a frozen burrito half warm half cold. The tortilla of that burrito were spongy, not grill, nos tasty, flat !! I went to ask if their any way I can substitute that sandwich for a dessert but that lady said that it’s impossible to do so. Worst relation customer service, bad food, bad quality, .. I wouldn’t post anything but after paying $37 and $6 tips for 2 black coffee and 2 ridiculous tiny frozen burrito !! I’m sorry it’s unacceptable for that quality and service.

(I've updated this review after the new General Manager refunded a mis-calculated tip.).This is a quaint little store where you can get snacks, ice cream and cold drinks after your hike around Chautauqua park or to chill out your kids after a hard morning running around the playground.
Parking: $2.50/hr, min 1 hour.

I rarely give 1 star reviews. But they earned it here. Anytime you go, even if there is only one person in front of you, you wait longer than seems possible. Service is incredibly slow. As a result the space fills up with people and it's cramped and uncomfortable in line. I purchased a sandwich and asked for mustard. I was told they didn't offer mustard, but the sandwich had condiments on it. That was a lie. The bread wasn't dry, exactly. It was soaked through by the tomato, saturated and falling apart. But no mustard, no mayo. A truly dismal turkey sandwich for $10. Never again. How can a store so basic fall so very far short? They found a way. Boo!

I visited the General Store a week ago and purchased a beautiful snow globe for a Christmas gift. Unfortunately I put it in my carry on luggage instead of checking it and it was determined to be too large and I had to leave it with a TSA agent - my fault.I contacted the store and explained my situation to inquire if I could purchase another and have it shipped to me. I was told the manager was in a meeting and the message would be relayed. The manager Brittaney called me back within a few hours to offer to do just that - but was not sure how soon it could be accomplished. She called back a few days later and had contacted FedEx to arrange the shipping, sent her email so that I could forward the shipping label and confirmed that evening that she had in fact dropped it off at FedEx. This was far and above outstanding customer service. She could have easily told me that they do not have the capability to ship or not returned my call at all.We are all very quick to criticize the lack of customer service. We need to take the time to praise someone who goes out of their way to accommodate a customer visiting from out of state asking for assistance. A beautiful charming store with amazing staff! I will absolutely be back on my next visit.
