I love this store and Joseph the proprietor. I purchased a stone bracelet and a few weeks later the elastic was compromised. I contacted Joseph and he immediately sent me a replacement. Great customer service and a wonderful store to shop in while in Aspen. Highly recommended!!

Average selection for a shop of this kind. Incredibly inflated prices. Something I purchased elsewhere was three times the price and half the size. I guess they have to cover Aspen rent prices. Interesting to browse but don't purchase here unless you have cash to burn. To be fair though the guy that spoke to me was friendly!

This is a place we always hit when in Aspen, and we never leave empty handed. Many cool things from fossils to rocks/minerals to art.

This place was absolutely amazing. The owner was so nice, informative, and helpful. I could tell he is very passionate about his job and his information made everything in the store even more fascinating than it already was. There is the largest, most diverse, and most spectacular selection I’ve ever come across in any fossil or historical relics store. I could stand there, gazing for hours at all the objects. I purchased a spinosaurus tooth and couldn’t stop smiling for about 2 and a half hours. Whether you are interested in cool fossils and rocks or not, I recommend you at least stop by, because you will be amazed. Thanks Colombine!

I love rocks and mineral specimens, so consequently have been in a lot--as in dozens--of stores handling these items. This one is hands down the best in terms of the quality of their merchandise. This is a long, long way from displays of small amethyst geodes and 5 inch wide slices of died agate. They have huge specimens, unusual and rare pieces, meteorites, 20 pound specimens of float copper--a really impressive collection with some museum quality pieces. Also amazing fossils. I highly recommend a visit.

At Columbine of Aspen you can can buy national treasures, priceless fossils, and artifacts. They have some great fossils and minerals and it's a fun place to see and visit. While we were there, we bought a few quartz crystals for good luck. This is definitely a place worth visiting.

I'm a rockhound. I've seen rock shops all over the American west. But Columbine exceeds all of them! You don't have to buy anything - just visit and browse the amazing geological art collected from all over the globe. A full mammoth in the entry; more amethyst geodes that you've ever seen in one place. An amazingly curated collection of art. Tell Joseph that Kelley sent you - you might be able to afford some of it!

We had a very nice visit and while I paid full price for my purchases on my first visit, the gentlemen were willing to negotiate with my kids as they were using their own money. They had some great fossils and minerals and it's a fun place to see. The reason I give them only 3 stars is they are extremely, and I mean, extremely, overpriced. First, I forgot this was Aspen. Everything is over priced. Second, we didn't know the fossil market very well and didn't know about availability. Imagine the pit in our stomaches when we visited Dinosaur Ridge (outside of Denver) two days later and saw many of the same things we had purchased (fish, teeth, etc.) for substantially less. For instance, the fish from Wyoming, priced here at $95 were available at Dinosaur Ridge for $20-$35. The Mososaur teeth were $15 at Columbine, and $3 at DR. My kids were sooooo upset when they realized they had overpaid (as it was their own money). A lesson well learned by everyone, I guess. So enjoy the view, but do your homework before you buy.
