How do you give ZERO STARS??I have much to report around this man, Tom from A Focus Fireplace! I’m a single older woman that was taken advantage of, treated with an amazing amount of disrespect (beyond disrespect!), and verbally abused. Tom 100% purposely damaged an electrical component in my fireplace that was not broken! I replaced this component 12 months ago.. brand new! He purposely opened the battery box to this electrical component and replaced fully functioning batteries with his own. He purposely installed them incorrectly and then ran electricity through the box! This, of course, caused the unit to burn up and start smoking. He then said, "I found the problem". After explaining to Tom that the component that was smoking and burning was in perfectly good working order, as it was newly replaced a year ago, until he started messing with this unit! He was condescending and flippant when he asked, "are you trying to say this was my fault?" I said YES, he is 100% the reason the component blew and I now have yet and additional component to replace! He proceeded to be condescending, rude, unprofessional... He told me I was a scammer..??? WHAT? He then began to call me names! As he was leaving my house he was yelling at me and was calling me a B+#@! and other choice words. I have a Ring Camera and the dialog was caught and recorded! I also asked my tenant that lives downstairs to come up and be witness to his abusive nature and language towards me. I will be reporting him to DORA! I will be placing this review everywhere possible in order to hopefully prevent another woman to be scammed by this guy!! Rocky Mountain Stove highly recommended this guy. I have reached out to them to find some kind of resolution... Their response is as follows: Tom does this work all the time". I told the manager that he should take a look at A Focus Fireplace LLC and check out Tom's reviews!! Rocky Mountain Stove had ZERO interest in what I reported!! ZERO!

This guy is a scam, avoid all costs. He didn’t even attempt to fix my pellet stove, he just said he didn’t have the tools. He then vacuumed out the stove, and clearly tried to make it look like it took long…it’s a 2 minute job. He didn’t even scrape it clean and charged me nearly $300. Don’t give this guy any of your business.

Tom came recommended to us via another fireplace store, and so didn`t properly check his reviews. I wish had now, because I see other folks here who had similar experiences with Tom.Tom came out to our place a few weeks ago to fix our pellet stove, initially he said it was going to cost $245 for the pellet stove service + $45 for the distance surcharge. Tom managed to get the unit running but said there was up charge because he had to disassemble the auger, so total price ended up being $335. We were just happy that it was working, however after a few days it wouldn`t start again...I texted Tom back, described what was happening and based on his assessment, the igniter had failed and needed to be replaced. We agreed he`d come back and repair the unit. He said the igniter would cost $125 to install + another $45 distance surcharge...Well he came out this week to work on the unit and after about 2.5 hours working on the unit, he claimed that the auger was re-jammed, that someone had tampered with the control board wiring, and thus that it not his fault he couldn`t get the unit functioning. Further he stated that the job was taking too much of his time / energy and was beginning to use multiple expletives with me... finally about 30 minutes later, he had packed up all his tools and again using more expletives basically bolted out the door, left my unitdisassembled, and proceeded to back out of my driveway yelling expletives out the window as he left. At this point I was concerned he would retaliate with violence and I locked my doors. So here we are with $335 later, with a more broken unit than we started, and I have no idea had to re-assemble the unit. The icing on the cake - we are also finding shards of glass, electrical components, and pellets that he had thrown in our dog food bag. Unsure if this was intentional or not - however hard to mistake our dog food bag as a trash bin, since there was an actual trash bin about 5 feet away. For others considering using A Focus Fireplace, beware and use at your own risk. Including pictures exactly how Tom left our unit.

After talking with Tom on the phone about needing my blower motor to be taken out of my pellet stove because it went out and I could not get it out myself, he said he would take a look at it. I was at work when he came by and a friend of mine was available to let him in. He called me on the phone and said the studs on the blower were broke and it needed to be drilled out. I asked if he could do that and he said he did not have the tools with him or the time to do it but could come back in about a week to look at it. Instead, he vacuumed the stove out and charged me $220.00 for that service! Are you serious?!?When I got out of bed the next day I drilled the holes out myself in about 20 minutes and put a new blower motor in and everything back together in a little over an hour! If I could give Tom zero stars for the price he charged me for the service he did, I would do just that, but Google will not let me so I gave him one star and I would not ever hire him or recommend him for anyone else!!

Tom was able to quickly diagnose the issue with our fireplace and fix it with parts he had on hand. Very professional all around.

NOT RECOMMENDED! We had Tom out to service our fireplace 5 weeks ago. It cost us $400, and he replaced the ignitor and control box. It worked for 4 weeks, and then stopped working. We called him and he not only refused to come back out - he accused us of lying, of breaking the unit ourselves, and even that it might have been caused by a lighting strike to our home! The guy is crazy and I strongly recommend against using his services.
