Fins & Fangs
56460 29 Palms Hwy, Yucca ValleyAbsolutely impressed with this place. I bought the healthiest feeder fish I have ever bought from them. Both people holding down the fort were very helpful and talkative. They didn't mind us being looky-lous and asking about animals in the store. Skip the box stores. Come here for your fish and reptile needs!!!

Pet Care

Companion Animal Clinic
7332 Pioneertown Rd, Yucca ValleyI've been taking my fur babies to Companion Animal Clinic for years. I know they will take good care of my dogs. It does cost a little extra, but you get what you pay for. ? There is one rude, condescending, entitled tech that works there, but I won't let her stop me from giving 5 stars to the 99% of the others that are most excellent!

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Luna Bakery
55700 29 Palms Hwy, Yucca ValleyWhat a surprise! I went to pick up sourdough bread, appropriate for a large dinner Salad at a vegetarian friends house tonight. They had lovely rolls that were light on density and crunch needless to say I was thrilled.
When I got there, I envisioned I was getting a loaf of French bread, I am from San Francisco. I do understand what sourdough bread is. To my disappointment, everything was sold off the racks. But he had the rolls and he had some focaccia which would’ve been lovely if I was having a pasta or soup dish. he assured me that those rolls will be light and fluffy. So i purchased six of them. And then decided to get the cherry danish that the gentleman in front of me got. And boy what a treat. I want to add that I’ve been there a few times before and with great disappointment missed out on bread missed out on when they were open, etc. but they’ve been well established for several years now and I wanted to try them again. I give them a solid five stars. I give them five stars for listening to me when I said your website says that I can only get bread Between 10 and 1030 as if the rest of the time is just sandwich making and other kinds of delicious items they would have. 10:am is when it comes out of the oven. Today @ 10:25 it was all gone. The gentleman in charge listened to me, he was really nice about it. They said they’d look at the website. I wasn’t a jerk. I was just letting them know about it. And it was a nice interaction with everyone who is on staff there.. The price was fair. Grateful to have a wonderful bakery as Luna bake bakery.

Frontier Café
55844 29 Palms Hwy, Yucca ValleyI arrived at what was probably close to peak time – around 10 AM on Sunday. The line was quite long and the food took a good while to arrive. I would have been wondering if it was forgotten except that I could see that everyone’s food was taking around 15 mins to come out. I didn’t mind – I had my coffee and excellent people-watching entertainment. The clientele ranges from locals in cowboy gear, rainbow gear, or tats and baseball hats, to tourists, UCLA hotties in faux fur, and geeks on laptops (that’s me). The contrast is pretty funny. I appreciated that the server at the counter took a minute to explain that they only use veggie sausage in their sandwiches so there’s no chance of a mix-up. My breakfast sandwich (veggie sausage, egg, and cheddar) was very filling and the side of veggie bacon (seitan) was tasty but salty. (Pro-tip: take some veggie bacon for your hike as salty snacks are good to replenish your electrolytes). The coffee was just okay – I just had a drip and it seemed over-roasted to me (I’ve heard others say this about beans from Joshua Tree Coffee). A medium/light toast would be better, in my opinion. Prices are reasonable and there’s a nice mix of cool inside seating and sun or shade outside. Props to the friendly staff. I’m giving the Frontier Café 4.5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: • A large amount of the menu is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. • It’s actually a genius move to just replace regular sausage with veggie version and make that standard in the breakfast sandwich. It’s an excellent way to show people who might otherwise never try the veggie option, that meat substitutes are pretty good these days. • Cool homemade items like vegan bacon (seitan) and vegan cookies. • Coffee beans are organic – from Joshua Tree Coffee, I believe, since they sell their beans there too. JT coffee is above-average in terms of environmental impact. • Food is served in compostable trays. • I like the little details like fair trade certified sugar and the interesting United Sodas drinks for sale. • Inclusive place that feels welcoming to everyone and, through this, brings people together. • Room for improvement: ditch the beef. It has much larger environmental footprints than other meats.

The Tiny Pony Tavern
57205 29 Palms Hwy, Yucca ValleyOverall a great spot that regularly gives back to the community. Only decent pint of Guinness in the Hi Desert !!
The food and drink is always delicious (more plant based options would be appreciated though!!)
Bathrooms are always clean
However it constantly feels stuck in an awkward space between being a fancy hipster spot and being a performative dive bar. The price does not reflect the grungy, divey, for the people vibe that it puts out. On the whole the staff are great but very often it’s hard to get served as they stand in the corner by the bar socialising.

SoCal Schnauzers
56925 Yucca Trail PMB 109, Yucca ValleyBrittany is a very responsible Texas breeder, she loves her dogs and they are healthy and happy! Pets come with all vaccines, health check up, chip, neutered, and a awesome goodie bag for your new puppy. I had bought a min from someone else years ago but did not vet the breeder and had well over 10K + vet bills to keep him alive ( was told to much inbreeding) He did live to 15.5 years with a lot of love and $ considering this amazing shelter and staff and care of there dogs at SoCal there pricing is well worth all that goes into breeding happy loving social pups. Thanks SoCal miniature Schnauzers for our ne family member! The Wynne family
