“You want me to rate the whole shopping center? That's like 10+ businesses. They are all average on a poor day and brilliant the other days. Try Heng's Cafe.”

“Just discovered this little gem tucked away in this plaza. Breakfast was delicious, reasonably priced and large portions. The service was great and they use real butter!! I'm impressed and I will definitely be back again and again. I will have to try the salad bar next time it looks scrumptious.”

“Frequent empty spaces for rent. Local businesses are trying to make good but their rents are so high and their price points reflect it. Example...

Found plushie dolls for granddaughters marked 75% off, no price on item. Item was in a bin. Price read $39.99 on the bin. Seemed a good deal and I would need 2 for autistic twins. After the twins each picked theirs out we took them up to the register. The girl at the register pointed out that the 75% off brought the plushee down to $39.99/each not that they were 75% off of $39.99. Apparently I wasn't the only one who had been misinterpreting the signage.

Granddaughters were heartbroken that I had to put the plushies back. Before we left I took pics of the plushies. Later that night I did a photo search for them and found them at temu for $29.99/each and not on sale.

What? Were they actually selling these plushies for $159.99 each at this mall in Yuba City, CA? I'm betting "not". That must be why they had a bin full of these things "on sale".

We continued our now fast paced window shopping as we picked up our Bath & Body order and left only buying a few little things from the clearance rack at Claire's (hair bobs & costume jewelry).

As a business owner myself I understand having to set prices based on the cost of running a business and all the overhead that goes into it plus having enough leftover to pay the bills at home. Figuring all of that based on the prices I saw the rents at the Yuba Sutter Marketplace are based on big city incomes, not those of our small midway point between 2 big cities, incomes.

If you're a tourist from a big California city maybe $160 for a plushie toy is normal but, NOT in our farming community. Caveat emptor.”
