Horrible customer service. Was rushing us out and kept being irritated when asking questions. Change your staff. The price is also 10% more expansive than anywhere else.

We took a guided hike with Britain and had a great day. My wife was having trouble with her knee and he was very patient. Britain was knowledgeable about the trails, foliage, wildlife, traffic, and the valley in general. We walked to the Happy Isles Nature and Art village, to Mirror Lake, and on the John Muir trail. A day like this is well spent.

The Mountaineering School employees were out for lunch but the store employees standing around at the front register there in the shop were NOT interested in helping orient us or give us any information. Only 1 of the 3 even greeted us and when we indicated our first time in here and looking for info, the answer felt delivered with annoyance and low patience. For a place designed to draw tourists, this was disappointing and walked out feeling like that's a store we don't need to return to on future visits! 3 stars just because they weren't outright rude.Thankfully we found these signs. Look forward to trying out the Mountaineering School and hopefully their employees are more friendly!

When you walk into the store you are greeted by a black clothing mannequin someone has added googly 'bug-eyes' to? Really? I am guessing this was done to be amusing, but take a tiny moment to think about the racist , exaggerated depiction of Black Americans in films, cartoons, posters, artwork over our history. My comment is not about one person (me) insisting you be 'politically correct'....it is about all staff throughout Yosemite Valley being welcoming to visitors from around the globe.Yosemite Valley is a sacred space, do better.

I came in to ask a question about a climbing route. One male employee was listening to his loud friend about dinner plans and the other (female) employee seemed to be concentrating on doing something at the computer/register. I waited for a pause in the rather one-sided conversation while the woman studiously kept her head down. Both avoided eye contact. I stood at what I thought was a polite distance from the counter while orienting myself roughly between the two, trying to make it clear by my body language that I didn't have anything so urgent that I needed to interrupt, but that I did want the attention (you know...some day?). Three minutes in, the dudes had moved on to where loud friend was going to find a couch to crash on, while the woman completed her task, turned and walked away! I said, loudly and clearly, "Clearly you all aren't here to talk to customers!" And walked out. I don't know if this is typical behavior, but it was a rare show of disregard in my experience. My recommendation: go anywhere else.

Great gear shop for climbing, backpacking, hiking, camping and outdoor gear. Good selection, though definitely seasonally dependent. Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. This is an outdoor gear shop. The grocery store is a few doors down, past the Meadows Grill. There are some reviews for the grocery store here, which is inaccurate and might confuse some folks.

Cool place and great if you’re in a pinch to get some climbing gear. The selection was pretty minimal and I would have spent around $500 in gear but they didn’t have anything I wanted such as basic C4 cams. This could be due to them possible closing soon for the season.
