I took my car to kindred in placentia as my check engine light came on and I needed a smog check,and a couple of other things done as my Chrysler 300 was 18 years old Mike the owner and mechanic did an outstanding job on repairs and getting me to pass the smog inspection I definitely ? will be back my go to auto mechanic he is very knowledgeable on all types of vehicles and repairs very meticulous on his work he gets it done.

Let me start by saying that I consider myself to have an above average mechanical aptitude when it comes to auto repair. I do a lot of my own maintenance, but I still know my limitations and when to defer to a professional. Having said that, I can quickly detect when someone really knows their craft as well as when they are out of their depth.
I know that not everyone is up to the task of tackling their own vehicle maintenance/repair. It usually requires getting your hands dirty and it can be intimidating. Especially when you find yourself at the mercy of a new mechanic who is handing you an invoice for repairs you're not even sure you need. Unethical shops exploit ill-informed customers every day and it's really a shame.
So those of you who feel like trying to find a capable, trustworthy auto shop (or any shop for that matter) ranks next to getting your teeth pulled at the dentist, I feel your pain.
But I say to you... your tired search ends HERE.
I present to you, Kindred ADR (Automotive Diagnostic & Repair)
Owned and operated by Scott "Scotty" Kindred.
I have met many different mechanics/technicians over the course of my life with varying degrees of aptitude and capability.
Scott Kindred is top tier. Period.
Yes, turning wrenches comes with the territory of automotive maintenance but what really sets a technician aside, is their ability to correctly diagnose nuanced issues that aren't entirely obvious. Scott's instincts are second to none and he refuses to let himself be defeated. Ever.
I really appreciate Scott's thoroughness and attention to detail. He never skips steps to save time/money and I, for one, really appreciate that quality about him. This is a guy who, while changing a water pump on a classic Mustang, took the time to paint it Ford Blue to match the block all because a customer mentioned the idea in passing one day. Nobody shows care like that anymore!
Additionally, Scott is unique in that he has an unprecedented commitment to transparency. I swear, it seems like everytime I bring one of my vehicles in for maintenance, I inevitably learn something new. He will take before and after pictures, videos, and show you his work. This caliber of ethics is unheard of anywhere else.
I would likely reach the character limit of this review page listing off the myriad of different projects he has overseen and been a part of. From minor to major upgrades, restorations, custom work, there's really no limit to his capabilities.
However, the only thing more impressive than Scott Kindred, the mechanic, is Scott Kindred, the person.
It's true that Scott has a lot of passion for automotive repair and maintenance. He has a gifted ability that can't be rivaled.
More importantly, he really has a love for people and it shines through in the way he interacts with his customers. He is generous, un-selfish, and I can't express how refreshing it has been to be a witness to his humanity. The world needs more like him.
I have come to know Scott well in the past few months as he and I are both business owners in similar boats. His friendship and words of encouragement have had a real positive influence on me.
At Kindred ADR, you may walk-in a customer, but you'll leave as a friend.
Scott, if you're reading this, thank you for all your hard work and I hope this review will be an aide to your continued success!

I was in shock when he got my 1961 ford Econoline running. I took it to multiple shops before I saw kindred, where it just sat or they told me they couldn't fix it. He did incredible and clean work. He is the only mechanic I will go too now. Highly recommend!

Scotty always puts care when he works on my classic 68 bug! My car is always in perfect running shape after taking it to Kindred. I have known Scotty for years, and has always done honest business with me! Best of all Scotty always likes to educate me by showing me my worn out parts condition that he replaced! I never take my car anywhere else because of my confidence in Kindreds ADR work!

I moved out of the area in 2019, but still find ways to travel back to Kindred to have my Miata serviced. Scott is the best and I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else.
