Great service and an amazing selection of trains. I purchased my first O-Gauge train set here. The employees answered all of my questions and were not pushy at all.

Visited Milepost 38 while I was in LA. They have a good selection and reasonable prices. They also inspect their used trains before selling them. The next time I'm in the market for some Lionel, I'll check them out.

I recently had a very pathetic experience here. I've been bringing my son here to Milepost 38 for a couple of years, since he was about 3 years old. Since my son is so young we haven't made any big purchases here yet, mostly wooden Thomas trains, Brio accessories and a few train books. Recently for my sons 5th birthday on 4/1/23 he received his first HO scale train set and since he already has a bunch of Thomas and friends wooden trains we came in to buy a Thomas and friends Ho scale engine. He selected a Spencer train but unfortunately there was something wrong with one of the drive arms. I brought it back to the store the next day and they tried to fix it but when I brought it back home the issue continued. So I came back again and I was given the option to try and fix it again or exchange it for a new one but the new one would be a final sale. I chose to take a new one and before leaving we tested it on a very short stretch of HO scale track. Unfortunately when we got the new train home it also started acting up within 30 minutes. These Ho Thomas trains have eyes that move back and forth but the eyes on the new train weren't working properly and they were just making an annoying clicking sound. The next day I called and spoke to Matt and I said if there was a way to disconnect the eyes I would be ok with that and he said that was a possibility. So I drove back again and instead of even attempting to fix it Matt says I should deal directly with the manufacturer. Well, he could have told me that over the phone since I've already wasted my time and gas driving there several times that week, (25 miles round trip so I've racked up 100 miles dealing this BS at this point). I think that a manufacturer warranty would come in to play when a customer has owned a train for 6 months or more, but considering that both of these trains were undeniably defective I think that a business owner with any integrity would take some accountability. BTW, I did mention to Matt that this was my sons B-Day money and I find it extremely pathetic that Matt is ok with taking his B-Day money and leaving him empty handed. For the record, according to the tracking # the manufacturer received the train 30 days ago with all of my contact info and I haven't received any update whatsoever. The sad thing is my son is absolutely crazy about trains, I've takin him to every local train museum and recently I also took him on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge train tour in Colorado. I'm a business owner myself and my business is very highly rated here on Yelp and I'm completely shocked that Matt would risk his reputation over a $145 dollar sale. Since my business is also on Yelp I try to be very understanding and it really takes a lot for me to leave a salty review but Matt has completely earned this one.

I bought a transformer from them on eBay. Was able to pick it up which saved the shipping cost. Plus I got to look around for some great deals. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Very kid friendly location.

I brought in my 1965 Lionel 2383 diesel locomotive into Mile post 38 and was met at the door by a couple of friendly folks. I said to them that I wanted to get my locomotive repaired so I can run it around the Christmas tree. I was introduced to a man named Daniel who quickly knew what I wanted done. I gave him the locomotive and in a couple of weeks it was repaired and running like new! My Grandmother who gave me the locomotive at Christmas would be so happy! Great job Daniel and Mile Post 38!

Very welcoming and helpful-I was able to leave a train for repairs (the team gave it a quick test even though I was a walk-in) and find everything I needed!
