We have a puppy, Cody, who we needed to put in day care many times & overnight because of family issues out of town. Robert, Caitlin, Meghan & the rest of the staff at the Barkley were wonderful with Cody and made our having to leave town less stressful because we knew he would be well taken care of. Cody loves going to the Barkley! They are always cordial, no matter how busy they are, and prompt whenever we had a question about a bill or our "punch card"

***Let me be clear. This review is in relation to the MANAGEMENT AT VCA. Not the wonderful employees at the Barkley and adjacent hospital who took such good care of our dog.***Our beautiful German Shepherd Toni was mauled by a a dog in the lobby of @barkley_westlake last week. The dog was known to be aggressive and dangerous and is separated from all of the other dogs...once through the gates. The dog was not however separated in the lobby. It broke free from its leash and mauled my dog unprovoked. It had to be ripped from her leg leaving a huge gaping wound and skin hanging off of her leg. She was taken to the hospital next door. It was an awful traumatic experience but the staff at the Barkley were fantastic. What was not fantastic however was the management or 'corporate'. We asked them to cover the costs of having to stay in a hotel as she can not handle stairs right now. We asked them to cover the costs of dog pee pads, urine spray and training to help her reintegrate after a traumatic experience. We did not ask for any additional compensation.Today they called and told us they weren't at fault...but have now changed their policies to ensure aggressive dogs have 'curb side checkin'. I assume we should be thankful that this change is answer AFTER my dog was attacked ? They offered us a paltry amount of money which won't even cover the hotel costs. Instead. The manager - Brian - asked if I had spoken to the other dog owner, because they believe them to be at fault. Way for a huge corporate to shirk responsibility !Just posting this out there because ya know, freedom of speech and I can say what I like.If anyone happened to see the incident. Please reach out to me

We have been taking our dogs here for the last 5 years and won’t take them anywhere else but here! If you want a trustworthy staff, hospital next door, cameras that are on 24/7, and people that care about animals…then look no further!!!

My husband and I have been trusting Sara at the Barkley for years! She's trained both of our large pitbulls with different personalities and needs. We used to live in CA and had onsite training, we now live in Las Vegas and still continue our training and drive to her because she's that amazing! There are no words to express our gratitude for the night and day difference in our lives because of Sara. Our 100lb boy Blu is the happiest pup and so well behaved, we are so grateful we started training from a young age. It set him up for success! From her giving us the right tools, customizing his needs/toys/diet, and training us how to work with him best, there is no one like Sara out there. She has a vast understanding of each dog and what they individually need. She truly cares about her clients and doesn't give up. She finds a solution to every issue and the resolutions stick! Her expertise brings us such comfort knowing we have someone like Sara in our corner. Thank you so much Sara for all you've given us and continue to do!!!

We board our Xena at the Barkley every time we go away. The staff is very helpful and seemingly take care of our little girl.

We just met with Ashley to get some questions, answered regarding boarding, our dog for a trip in May. She seemed to have an attitude and was inconvenienced by our questions. If this is how they treat customers before they pay, I do not want to see what happens to these poor dogs once they are left there. I will not be using this facility!

I have a 15 year old blind and deaf pug. Barkley was the only boarding facility (and I called them all) that would take him and care for him like I would. All the staff loves my little old man “Yoda”. He has his own room and does not have to go anywhere or do anything. He barely moves at this point and needs help. They provide peepee pads and are attentive to his every need. I was so relieved to find a place that would take care of my sweet elderly dog. He deserves the best care and Barkley gives that to him.

The Barkley took amazing care of our chihuahua/jack russel mix Bruno while my now husband and I were getting married in another state. Bruno is very nervous and can be a little snappy but they took extra care to make sure he was comfortable. We opted to receive daily pictures of him for the week we were gone and he warmed up to the staff quickly which shows me he was in good hands. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Barkley.

Our nine month old puppy just graduated from an amazing six week Basic Obedience class at The Barkley Academy. Our trainer Vendy along with her assistants transformed our sweet Ruby to listen and follow commands exceeding our expectations. They are the BEST!!!

The pawsitive training for dogs is amazing. I have a Chiweenie who was stubborn and food aggressive. By the end of the six weeks he was most improved. I learned some simple tricks to use at home and he is like a new dog. Prior to this I had sent him for a one week intensive training which I think really set me up for his progress during the group training. The trainers are kind and I learned so much thank you.

This review has nothing to do with the staff as they are all kind and clearly there because they love animals. It definitely has everything to do with protocols and management. I picked up my dog from daycare THREE min after 6pm and was charged an extra $25. For prospective, a full day of daycare is $50! I understand everyone’s time is important and there should be some kind of fee or penalty but 50%? I doubt this fee goes to the employees who are the ones ACTUALLY waiting.Within a year, I’ve noticed VERY high turnover. Saw some people quit, who genuinely seemed to care, citing management as a reason to leave. Not something I want to support. If you board, your dog will be in its ‘room’ starting at 4pm and taken out at 9am. (Even though daycare starts at 7 or 8am). Maybe one free walk and additional services if you pay for each. Like an airline.Daycare is fine. He always returns smelling so gross, though. Even though they have chosen a better camera system than the old app, I’ve always seen the dogs just walk back and forth all day following whatever humans are doing the same laps. If you just need them to be busy, maybe that works for you.The obscene fee was the last straw. Especially since I was back in my car with dog by 6:07pm.UPDATE: A manager from the Barkley read the review and very proactively reached out to me. He clarified that the late fee wasn’t protocol and there was a misunderstanding within the staff. As an added gesture, he refunded the daycare charge as well as the late fee. I truly wouldn’t have expected that. I appreciated his extra efforts to rectify this.
