Dr. Sumit H. Rana (PMI-Center for Orthopaedic Specialists-Westlake Village) performed a “Robotic Total Knee Arthroplasty” on my right knee eight weeks ago. Dr. Rana’s skills as a surgeon are impeccable. I did not know Dr. Rana prior to my referral to him but read his bio prior to my first appointment and instantly knew he is beyond skilled and truly loves what he does. This was confirmed from my first appointment with him to my surgery and following my surgery. He is very caring and the manner in which he explains what he can do for you instantly puts you at ease. I had no hesitation to schedule my surgery with him and upon my surgery date approaching I received a call from Dr. Rana’s surgery scheduler followed by an email with all surgery instructions outlining the preparations prior to surgery, the day of surgery, and instructions following surgery. These instructions/documents will become your “BIBLE” to follow. You then receive a call from Dr. Rana’s surgery nurse who again goes over everything within these documents for the before, during, and after surgery and never once was I ever rushed through the documents and was given the time to ask any and all questions I had. The surgery I had was state of the art and the pain management for after my surgery worked so well I only needed it for a very short period of time. My incision which is now a very fine line at eight weeks had stitches that dissolve and a strip over it that comes off on its own. My physical therapist at the three week mark told me I was already at the 12 week mark and I know that I can attribute this to Dr. Rana’s impeccable skills as a surgeon and for Dr. Rana providing skilled staff and instructions to his patients. This surgery went so well that I am already looking to have Dr. Rana do the same surgery on my left knee in the very near future. Without a doubt, and I have so many more positives I could add, I cannot recommend Dr. Rana enough and any fears you may have about having a total knee replacement done will be gone at your first appointment with him. Not only is he a totally nice guy but very highly skilled!!!! He truly is the BEST!!!!!!

Waiting for an hour and a half to get in! They emailed me the form to fill out at home, which took a long time, then when I got there had me fill out forms all over again! Very unorganised!

Waiting forever!!! I was early, as suggested to complete paperwork. 1.5 hours later, I’m still waiting. This is unacceptable! First and last visit here.

Dr Rana is a wonderful surgeon. He was willing to explain the process to me and my husband. The aftercare that I received was very good. About 1 year ago i was not able to walk I was depressed as I was not able to move more than 10 steps. Another surgeon did my knee but i was still in pain and can only walk with a Walker for 20 steps. Under recommendation of my PT he suggested Dr. Rana. I am so grateful that I changed. After one visit and he saw how I walked he knew that the hip was the issue. After several xray and MRI surgery was scheduled. Now 6 months later I am walking daily and my fit bit syes! Daily average 10000 steps yea!

I saw Dr Sumit Rana here and let me tell you; he's an amazing surgeon. His office staff is extremely nice, welcoming, and efficient. The wait time has ALWAYS been under 5 minutes at all of my visits. I was afraid of having a huge scar on my knee after my total knee replacement. Was I surprised and thrilled at how thin and small it is. And I appreciate that Dr Rana see's all of his patients and doesn't push you over to a Physician's Assistant. If you are looking for an Orthopedic Surgeon; Dr Rana is your Dr.

The only problem with this review is that I have to only give one star. I would do zero if I could. Dr. Rana was the third doctor I interviewed for a hip replacement and originally I felt good with his confidence actually overconfidence and his knowledge so I decided to go with him to do the replacement. When I woke up from the surgery I was in the most excruciating pain in my back I had ever been in I was literally screaming for pain medication at the hospital. As time went on I was not getting better and the pain was insanely bad in my leg along with my entire back, hip and butt. When I went to see him for a follow up appointment he really didn't seem to really care that I told him how much pain I was in. He told me to relax and ice it and take pain medication. After another four weeks go by and many phone calls which took at least five to get somebody to call you back in that office. I finally went back to see him he took x-rays said that the prosthetic looked fine and that my back was "toast" what the hell kind of doctor says that to you ?? and why was that?? my back was not toast before. I went admittedly I didn't have the best back in the worldAfter being 62 years old and being on my feet my entire career as a chef and working at a winery and walked 25 to 30 miles a week with no problem. I wouldn't call that a chronic bad back it was nothing that an ice pack couldn't help. He recommended that I probably see a back doctor I looked at him like are you serious? So apparently I needed to see one because of the chronic pain I was in after 8 weeks and there was no end in sight. I found a phenomenal neurosurgeon who said I had good amount of damage he saw in my back after viewing my MRI. I had also taken my MRI and other x-rays to another doctor and they said it looked like they dropped me from the ceiling. How the hell does that happen during routine hip replacement? I wound up having two really bad herniated disc's that squished out into my spine and completely broken Cartlidge that was sticking into my nerve canal causing severe pain. I have not once heard from Dr. Rana to see how I am doing or any communication from the office or him since the surgery the beginning of September other than just seeing him for my 2 follow up appointments. He didn't seem to care at all about me I was just another piece of meat and a paying customer. So Apparently he freaking broke my back. I have now had back surgery and I am still in a major amount of pain and am facing three more months + of rehab after the 31/2 months I have been laid up in chronic pain from the onset of my September 1 so called hip replacement. I still have to wait and see if I have permanent damage or not. I wouldn't recommend this guy to my worst enemy. All he does is trip over his ego which half of his staff tend to make fun of him about behind his back. If you are searching for a doctor for hip replacement and see his name run the other way and run fast!

Dr. Rana literally changed by life. I met Dr. Rana after several knee surgeries to fix my torn meniscuses to a point where they were no longer able to be repaired. After my fifth knee surgery, I was literally bone on bone and the osteoarthritis was unbearable. I went to see Dr. Rana to discuss options. He immediately made me feel comfortable and offered several solutions with realistic outcomes. I decided on having a double knee replacement (yes, both at the same time). Dr. Rana's surgical team was amazing. I felt very confident in his skills and abilities. Surgery was such a success that I was not only walking the same day of surgery, but back to light duty within two weeks. I am three months post-surgery and full functioning with all of my daily activities. Dr. Rana has continued to follow up with me to ensure I have been healing well. His office staff at the Center for Orthopedic Specialists are top notch. They always make me feel like part of their family. I highly recommend Dr. Rana for your surgical needs.

My first visit last week was wonderful with Dr. Evan J. Bachner. however this visit he must have had a bee in his britches. His condescending and rude attitude made it a very unpleasant experience. I will get by cast taken off by a different doctor. I will not be going back to this office.

Dr. Rana performed a knee replacement on my left knee on May 25, 2021. I'm very pleased with the whole experience. Dr. Rana is very professional and also very approachable. He answered my many questions before the procedure. Follow up was good as well. The quality of his work Is reflected in my recovery. My physical therapists say that my performance at 4 months post-op is like their nonsurgical patients. At this point, I often find myself not thinking about my knee at all as I go about my day even though I hike and bike and average 14,000 steps a day. I cannot recommend Dr. Rana too highly.

Dr. Neil Sardesai is very passionate about getting his patients better with the best technique possible - including minimal downtime. Fixed my mother’s hip with best possible outcome, reminded her to take her vitamin D and calcium, encouraged her to get to outpatient physical therapy ASAP. Very good doctor, with great bedside manner and technical skills that remind us all - we are fortunate to have access to such superb medical resources. The whole staff was kind and hardworking as well.

Total Hip Replacement 3 weeks ago and it changed my life. I saw a Beverly Hills Dr. T. because I wanted the surgery done at Cedars-Sinai, not impressed. Went and saw Dr. Rana and was very impressed with examination of me. He checked out my range of motion in every possible direction, had a colleague on the phone, even checked my teeth. Very thorough. He was listed as a Dr. who used the Stryker robotic surgery assist - I wanted to get the surgery performed by a Dr. who used it like the other Dr. He explained that he only used it for knee replacements and why he didn't use it for hips. I'm an engineer so what he explained to me made perfect sense to me. Time to schedule surgery and he asked me where I wanted to have the surgery done very flexible due to my work. The operation went very well, walking a couple hours afterwards with walker, NO PAIN! Went home next day. 2 days walker, 2 days cane, free! Dr. Rana is an excellent surgeon with an excellent staff. I can't recommend him enough. The staff at the office and the coordinator at the hospital were so good and accommodating it would be hard to improve anything. I was treated so well through the whole experience with such personal attention it was refreshing to find people that care. The surgery was done at Providence Tarzana which turns out to be a Cedars-Sinai satellite hospital. So I got everything I wanted. All the people there were so nice and so attentive. I have been in a lot of hospitals with relatives and have seen how bad it can get. Now I have seen how good it can be, first class! ymmv

Dr. Rana was the surgeon who recently performed my Anterior total hip replacement surgery. Before the operation, he explained the procedure to me in language I could understand, answered all my questions and assuaged my fears. He was very professional and treated me like a person and not a number. His support staff were terrific.

I seldom write reviews but one person put at ease about a total hip replacement then I am glad I did this. The first time I met Dr. Rana, he explained I'd need surgery, yet he offered alternatives. For the pre-op, he was very thorough to explain the entire process, extremely patient to answer all questions (several were similar to others) and never rushed me. Leading up to surgery, his team made sure everything was taken care of, that I knew what to do, what to expect the day of surgery and days following. There was NO pain from the surgery! That same day the PT had me walking. Days following, Dr. Rana called to see how I was. The Program Manager, was very diligent, contacting me every few days to check in. Two PTs were very impressed with my progress. Both spoke very highly of Dr. Rana. Five weeks after surgery, I'm gaining back strength. Dr Rana and his support team were more than amazing! Eventually I'll need my other hip done; there will be no hesitation knowing I have Dr. Rana.
