The building is very nice and the amenities are excellent. The apartment is beautiful and so far quiet. What really stands out is the staff. Both Janine Meregillano-Yang and Wendy Cole were amazing. This was a stressful move for me. Both Janie and Wendy made it as easy as possible. Their professionalism, patients and most of all, kindness made a difficult situation doable. Moving is never fun, but with Wendy and Janie in your corner you'll get through it just fine.UpdateI've lived here over a month and things are pretty good. Like any move, there have been little things that need to be taken care of.Angeline Barragan has been my go to person and wow! The level of service has been amazing. Her competence, patience and good nature is emblematic of all of the staff I've encountered at The Dylan. They have gone out of their way to help me at every turn. No question to foolish, no request to big or small. For example, I have a big pick up truck. When I told them that parking was difficult they found me a spot that I can actually use! There have been other things like helping me find my UPS packages or how to get rid of my move in debris.I'll keep updating as things progress. But for now, things are pretty amazing.

Let's talk about the security, first of all. There is no security person at the front desk, no one EVER answers calls to security, and the building gates are constantly broken or broken-into.Oh yeah, and in April 2022, a woman was SHOT IN THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX. She perished. This place is not safe. A woman was shot inside of her own home here at The Dylan and died from her injuries. News articles about the incident state that management could not be reached. Unsurprising. This place is NOT SAFE.Let me say that again. A woman was shot inside of this very apartment building and she perished. This place is an absolute madhouse.Packages are left piled up at the unmanned front-desk; as such, there is a high rate of package theft.Management NEVER answers calls.Fire alarms go off constantly. Elevators are out constantly. If you have a mobility issue, do not live here. I am pretty certain residents have the right to an accessible dwelling, but 90% of the time, the building is not accessible to residents because of constant elevator outages. The trash chute doors are often disabled, and residents end up leaving their trash piled up in the trash room. They pump a very cloying perfume through all the building's vents, so don't live here if you have any sort of sensitivity to scent.Do not live here. Management is completely absent, and the high rent of this place does NOT reflect the quality of service. This building is complete trash. Management are akin to slumlords. There is NO security and unhoused folks from the street are wont to wander in.Do not live here.Oh and, the walls here are paper thin. I can hear neighbors playing video games and blasting music from a subwoofer at all hours of the day and night. The quality if life here is so poor, and the noise is relentless.

I hope you guys from leasing office will respond at least here. I do not know what is going on in the office, but this is absolutely unacceptable. I’ve been trying to reach you guys for more than 3 weeks. No one answers my emails and calls. I left a voice message but still nothing. I don't know what other ways there are to contact you. Terrible attitude

If I could leave less stars, I would. Easily the worst place I’ve ever lived. Management is unresponsive and the building just has an overall bad vibe. The elevators nor gates are ever working. Read the reviews, they clearly boast one maintenance man Marvin who is cool but I haven’t seen him in weeks.Don’t live here if you can avoid it. Living here has compromised our general happiness and we cannot wait to leave.—Hi Natali - updating my note as I see your response. Do you think it’s wise to list here on your reviews, via Google - publicly, that you don’t have a record of me living here? Does that say more about your management team or me? I think it’s clear, via the ratings and comments, what goes on in this building.

A Nightmare Experience: Avoid This Apartment Complex at All Costs!I recently moved out of this apartment complex that was nothing short of a nightmare. I urge you to stay away from this place if you value your peace of mind, comfort, and safety. Below are the numerous issues I encountered during my stay:1. Hot water woes: The hot water situation was an ongoing nightmare. It frequently went out without warning, leaving residents to endure cold showers or no water at all. Despite multiple complaints, the management never provided a permanent solution to this recurring problem.2. Paper-thin walls: If you enjoy the soothing sounds of your upstairs neighbors' every move, especially at night when you desperately need rest, then this is the place for you. Pray that your neighbors don't have a penchant for walking on their heels; otherwise, your sleep will suffer immensely.3. Package problems: Missing or stolen packages were a common occurrence, and when packages did arrive, they could be anywhere in the building. The lack of a reliable package system made it a gamble every time, leaving residents frustrated and uncertain about the safety of their deliveries.4. Broken promises: TVs were scattered throughout the building’s common areas, but not a single one of them actually worked. Considering the exorbitant rent we paid, one would expect basic amenities like functional TVs with cable. Instead, we were left with empty promises.5. Safety concerns: The apartment complex proved to be a hotbed for safety issues. A recent shooting incident (Google "West Hollywood Shooting") exposed the lack of proper background checks on tenants. It is unacceptable that Essex, the management company, did not prioritize resident safety.6. Alarming fire alarms: The fire alarms were incessant, constantly disrupting the peace and tranquility of the residents. Shockingly, the management showed no accountability or desire to find a solution. Their go-to excuse was blaming the neighboring buildings instead of addressing the underlying problem.7. Elusive management: Trying to reach the management was an exercise in futility. There was no office to visit, phone calls went unanswered and led to voicemail, and emails received nothing more than an automated response. If, by some stroke of luck, you managed to get a generic response after three days, it’ll probably require another email in which you’ll have to wait another three days. Communication with the management was a source of immense frustration and despair.8. Elevator nightmares: The elevator was a constant source of inconvenience, breaking down frequently with no permanent solution in sight. On my move-out date, it predictably broke down again, resulting in additional expenses as I had to pay my movers for the extra time it took to transport my belongings.9. Unfair water bill system: To add insult to injury, the entire building's water bill was split among all the units, forcing residents to foot the bill for others' water usage. When a leak occurred, all tenants were burdened with astronomical water bills that rivaled car payments. This practice is simply unjust and highlights the management's lack of consideration for its residents. In conclusion, I implore you to steer clear of this apartment complex. Don't be fooled by any corporate response you might receive; they will likely spew more empty promises and corporate jargon. Save yourself from the frustration, inconvenience, and disappointment that comes with residing in this abysmal establishment. Look elsewhere for a place that truly values its residents and their well-being.

I would like to leave a review for the maintenance staff. They have always been quick to respond (which is great when there have been some emergencies), very kind and helpful. Most recently, my smart lock on my door became inactive leaving me locked out of my apartment and Ricardo responded immediately and stayed around until the problem was resolved with the tech company and the leasing office. Five stars for him and for all of the other staff who have come to the rescue in a pinch!

This building is a total disgrace. For the price you pay, you definitely do not get the bang for your buck. The elevators are always out of order for days at a time, the cleanliness is subpar, the gates in the garage are always broken, oftentimes either leaving you stuck inside/outside, where the gates are just open leaving your vehicle exposed to any intruder. Maintenance is oftentimes never around, you have to wait weeks for someone to fix something in your unit. Customer service is non-existent, if you want to speak with someone directly, you can't! The only time you can speak with someone is if you are leasing an apartment in the building. Other than that, they are not available through anything--but email, and that's if you can get a response. They won't hesitate to leave you email unanswered. Overall, this building a poor choice for new residents.

I absolutely love the team here. Jessica and Marvin have been so helpful during my short time here. Any maintenance needs, Marvin is ON IT. Jessica made sure I had a great move-in experience. Dave has made sure that my tenancy here has been nothing but amazing. Thank you all for your great efforts! Even when times are tough and a helicopter lands in the street, the team works hard to ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment are number 1.

I have lived here since November 2022, There is no office on site. Know that they are unreachable. They never answer. Not ever. Many messages were left and never returned. The phone calls made or requests made to office are NEVER returned. NEVER. Its a decent place otherwise minus the shooting. In April 2022 the building was on lockdown and evacuated from a shooting that happened. Hospitalized an elderly lady by a Dylan tenant here who had an semiautomatic rifle and firing 5 shots thru the door into the next apartment. The swat team used our apartment to scope/sniper set up to take out the perp. They used flash grenades and blasted the windows and stormed the apartment. There is still plywood up; it has been several weeks. Feels strange living here. I ask you to be careful reading the reviews posted by troll staff posing as tenants. It is amusing to see how far companies will go to post positive reviews about their place as "tenants". Should be pretty telling. Be warned.

The management wants to claim to be a luxury property and have a reputation of being a desirable building. Simply put, they do not take ownership of their own problems and they have demonstrated through their response, a lack of concern, nor a desire to establish a plan concerning your safety as a paying tenant. As I'm typing this on 3/16/23 there is a new police report being issued for The Dylan apartment for an unfortunate event that just occurred. The sight of police vehicles parked in front of the building has led me to believe, without doubt, the police must be here for the Dylan building yet again. Unfortunately that is the case and resident female was physically attacked and assaulted while she was simply taking trash out to the first first floor. Needless to say, the building has a public garage but the building for tenants is open for anyone to walk in. There is only 1 security guard on duty (half of the day) for an entire building with 6 floors. The building is open for the public to access. Period. I'm not sure why the building isn't secure and this seems like a logical solution of securing entries, locking doors, having multiple security guards, and actively monitoring the grounds would help prevent events as such from happening. The fact that a female resident was just attacked without anyone noticing or knowing how people just walk right into the building is senseless. Management will likely read this review and publicly reply with a response of concern. That's expected, that's normal, but they will not go above and beyond to address these safety concerns. Two weeks prior to writing this I was a victim of a burglary where I lost valuable property and I've expressed my concerns directly to management. I'd like to publicly share for your acknowledge as a potential interested tenant to express my encouragement to look elsewhere for a "luxury apartment." I'm not writing for emphatic reasoning or seeking attention but nearly warning potential tenants of the known risks of living here. On numerous accounts, our neighbors on just our floor alone have witnessed horrendous accounts of burglaries, human deification in the hallways, yes human fecal matter, mail theft, and homeless transients on a daily basis. The risk of experiencing a preventable safety event or even traumatic event here is high. Believe me I'm counting down the days to leave.

Marvin and the maintenance department are the best part about The Dylan. They are always kind, professional and do their best to make tenants lives better. They are the main reason I continue to live here.

Hello, living here at The Dylan Apartments for many years I have seen many great maintenance employees but the one that has stood out the most is Marvin. He has always taken care of all the issues I’ve had in a timely manner and I appreciate his help and support no matter how easy or difficult the task may be. Also, when the building had no maintenance supervisor I only knew because he informed me since I could not tell because everything was taken care of! Roger is the new maintenance supervisor and he is also willing to help and go the extra mile for the residents to make sure we have peace of mind! Thank you Dylan team!
