What a charming delight to stumble across Mystery Pier Books on Sunset! This is one of the hidden gems of L.A that keeps the magic of this city alive... Harvey and Louis are the consummate hosts - welcoming, passionate and full of stories - like their books which are ALL first editions! A stunning collection in this quaint and cosy space. Thank you for your generosity and warmth, we'll be back! Your new Aussie friends, Leah and Jerome

This place is a gold mine with so much history. A lovely cottage bookstore tucked away from the hustle bustle with signed editions and one-of-a-kind finds! The owners are so nice and helpful! They'll take out any books you want to see - my favorite was the Harry Potter editions that have been signed.

Very friendly staff, and neat to look around even if most of the editions will be out of the average book-buyer's price range.

Arrived at store operating hours only to be questioned: "Did you not see the closed sign?" Well, that could have been an error since your posted (on your door) hours is 7PM! Since the door opened, it was beyond rude only to be rushed out! Update your HOURS! Let's not even talk about being read by the store operator. "Do you know how much that books is?" Well as a matter fact we did and if you had the copy it could have been purchased! But I will not be returning!

Such an interesting place to visit! Harvey and his son Louis were such a pleasure to chat with! Very cool scripts that were signed by actors and a bunch of first editions. So happy to come across this gem!

A must visit!!! I came here with my friend on a visit to Los Angeles and we had the most lovely time with Louis and Harvey! We were so lucky to visit the shop on a slightly rainy day, as there were no other visitors. The collection they have is truly not to be missed. Not only were they beyond generous in their knowledge about their collection, their sourcing methods, and their personal favorites, but they also shared stories about their fascinating history around how the shop came to be. This store is such a gem within the community and the history they hold within it is truly something special! Thank you Mystery Pier Books!

This is a MUST visit in Los Angeles! I have never been anywhere quite as unique as this first edition book store nestled in a little alley way in West Hollywood. Stop in and stare in awe of the amazing collection they have carefully curated. The walls are lined with first edition books, notes, awards and of course celebrity photos. You must talk to Harvey and Louis while you're there. They are incredible bookstore owners who are always willing to share their stories :)

In general this is a pretty unique establishment but the staff is fairly rude. Not easy to convince oneself to return.

Louis and his dad are great. They are both incredibly knowledgeable, have read every fiction book ever printed, and have a great sense of humor. Not to mention they have some incredibly mind-blowing stuff in there. Definitely worth a visit.

I discovered this place by chance when I was walking by, and I'm glad I did! It's a hidden gem run by a father and son, who are very warm and approachable. The son, Louis, was great to talk to and very knowledgeable and passionate about their collection of books. They carry an amazing and rare assortment that you can't find anywhere else. I would recommend paying a visit and I'm definitely coming back!

Very very cool little bookshop, tucked away down a narrow corridor leading from the street. They have all sorts of rare and signed first editions (including novels and screenplays). Even if you can't afford to buy something / aren't in the market, it's a nifty little place to spend a few minutes and peruse.
