Hello, I had abdominal pain that wasn't going away. First I was seen at the urgent care at Kaiser Scott's Valley. The doctor there, was spot on with his diagnosis, and encouraged us to go to the ER at Watsonville Community, a simply stated, "if you were my brother, I would send you there" At Watsonville Community, while I was at triage, the on call Doctor, Luke, came out to visit, mentioned that he had a call with the Kaiser Doctor. I was brought back within 20 minutes. The first nurse, did my blood work, and 10 minutes later, I was off to get an ultrasound. Back in a room we waited about 40 minutes for the results as expected (gallbladder stones), all the while being attended to and checked in on by Dr Luke and a Nurse named Tim. I have to say that at all times I was treated with kindness, thoughtfulness and professionalism. They took the time to listen, they didn't talk down to me, and re-assured me to a point where I really felt cared for. My wife and I were both very impressed with the care, Having been to an ER way to many times, This was a Great example of REAL "Human Kindness" Five Stars from Me !!!!

I went to the Emergency room last year, and ended up being admitted. The doctors and nurses and general staff were excellent. They monitored my pain level attentively and were courteous and empathetic overall. And though it sounds funny to describe a hospital room as "nice," it was.

No one likes to have an emergency but I received very good and attentive care after an accident left me with a broken arm. Staff was kind and professional. Facilities were clean.

I, recently, was a Patient admitted thru the Emergency Department. I was an In Patient for about a week. Every single aspect of my admission was excellent from the quality/cleanliness of my room to the care by the Nursing staff. I didn't have much of an appetite but the food I did have was good. Their attentiveness to my post-hospitalization situation was remarkable. I'd recommend WATSONVILLE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL TO ANYONE.

Zero stars! Worst hospital experience. It is so run down, you feel like you're in a third world country. Was told there was only one doctor and one PA on staff in the ER. After three miserable hours, I left without being seen.

I have been seen at Watsonville hospital a few times, and my care was fine, the Dr.'s and nurses were kind, helpful and efficient. I had always heard people complain about this hospital, but I didn't get it because I had received good care. I went to the Watsonville hospital in Nov of 2022 on crutches after falling and hurting my foot badly, I was unable to put weight on it, and it was swollen, and painful, I was sure I had broken the top bones in my foot. The hospital reception got me in for x-rays right away. The x-ray technician took 3 x-rays, wheeled me back out to the waiting room. I waited about 1/2 hour and then I was wheeled into another area, directly across the hallway from the E.R. waiting room, and left in a wheel chair, no propping of my leg, no discussion with a Dr for 2 hours! it wasn't busy, there were 2 or 3 other people in the curtained off waiting rooms. I pulled a plastic chair over so I could elevate my foot because having it down for over 2 hours was contributing to the swelling, and throbbing pain. A male Nurse Practitioner came over and said "well, nothing is broken" which I was delighted to hear, and thanked him for the good news. He started to turn away to leave, and I asked him what I should do, should I continue using crutches and keep my weight off my foot, or should I use a cane, or crutches to assist while adding weight on my foot? He said "if it hurts, keep your weight off of it, if it doesn't hurt, you can put weight on in, You'll figure it out" I was pretty appalled that was his medical advice, but then asked him if I could be prescribed Motrin 600's for the pain and he said "NO". He was trying to push some medication I've NEVER heard of, and he said, it works just like Motrin. I told him I'm very cautious with taking new medications, and since I know how Motrin reacts with my body, I'd prefer if he could write the prescription for Motrin 600s, he said "no, you can buy Motrin over the counter". I left before they were able to prepare my release papers, because I'd already been waiting there for over 2.5 hours!I went to my General Practitioner to have my foot looked at a month later because I was still in pain, and using a crutch to assist with walking, and they took x-rays, wrote me prescription for Motrin 600s, and referred me to a specialist to identify why the bones were still aching. Watsonville hospital bill for 3 x-rays, no medical advice, no pain medication prescription and over 2.5 hours in the waiting room: $8,000*side note, when I called my insurance to find out WHAT on earth was being charged for the $8k, they stated there was a code for "tobacco consult". I haven't smoked cigarettes in 25 years, and the Nurse Practitioner didn't talk to me about smoking, such a scam! The visit with my doctor which was less than and hour with waiting room included, 6 x-rays which they reviewed with me, medical advice to help with swelling & manage the pain, called in a prescription for Motrin, and sent a referral to specialist: $385 I will wait to see my G.P. or drive to Monterey Hospital before I ever set foot in Watsonville Hospital ever again!

I have been both a patient and an employee of WCH for over 4 years. I'm a nurse in Labor & Delivery there. As an employee sometimes I am frustrated with the aging equipment, and the long bankruptcy process the hospital has gone through recently. However my coworkers are like a family to me, and we love our patients so much. Even with older equipment, we provide excellent care in labor, postpartum, and the tiny Nicu. We would bend over backwards for our patients! Our c-section rate is half the national average, and I have only heard of one episiotomy in 5 years here... so Yelp definitely displays those stats wrong! Breastfeeding is really emphasized hard here, but it's ultimately mama's choice! As a patient in the ER, I received good care, and a quick ct scan. However I know it can be pretty hard to get through the ER on certain nights, especially for infants and kids who need difficult IVs started. Staffing is just difficult to find for this hospital, and many times we get great nurses but they leave right away. Overall it's a great place to have a baby, and it's fine for adult emergencies!

They are so unprofessional here. If you love your family and friends DO NOT bring them here. Dr Riderer is a joke and very immature. Yelling, rolling your eyes and being aggressive is no way to treat a family of a sick family member let alone the sick patient them self. 0 compassion and unorganized. They gave my mom an infection at her IV site and a blood clot. Let her suffer with a severe migraine after a stroke. Didn't even care to do an MRI until I FORCED THEM TO! Discharged her with the infection, blood clot and no direct diagnosis of why she had 3 seizures and a stroke in 2 days. She had a seizure Monday 11/28 monitored her in the ER didn't do any testing. Sent her home said she was fine. 11/29 my sister found her unresponsive and had to do CPR ON HERE. This hospital is trash and should be closed down. ITS A 0 STAR RATING FOR ME. IN ORDER TO POST I HAVE TO RATE BUT ITS DEFINITELY NOT EVEN WORTH 1 STAR. 0000000000

I can't believe my wife is being charged for a visit where she wasn't seen. They took her information and did NOTHING ELSE. We sat in the waiting area for over an hour with her in pain and vaginal bleeding. She told them she is pregnant but they DID NOTHING they just said they had no beds and wouldn't even have the doctor come out and talk to her. After seeing other patients being taken in and she ignored we made the hard decision and left. I am appalled at the fact that we are being billed $343.46 for NO SERVICE. YOU PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!

Not to long ago I was held in the ER here for a 51/50 hold and the nurses there gave me some of the WORST treatment I've ever experienced. A nurse scoffed at me after seeing my self harm scars and told me that she believed I was just there for attention and that I was holding up a bed when people with "real" problems needed to be seen. I wouldn't recommend coming here for any mental health related issues. Nurses here are bitter and cruel.

Got notice in the mail today WCH is bankrupt. I am a Kaiser member - why didn't Kaiser notify me of this? Perhaps it is now sold but still, not very comforting to know your assigned hospital is in bankruptcy. Have had two experiences with this hospital. One, left me waiting in ER for over 5 hours. I'd had a chest xray and bloods but NO one who would see me. I took my records and left. Another time, last Dec, had a bone scan and they 'lost it'. WTF. Shame on this hospital and Kaiser for using them. Kaiser should not be in business in SC County if they can't sort out a decent hospital.

Going back about 14 months ago I took my wife to emergency there, they did a scan of her leg and then completely left her alone. I finally had to raise heck to find her. She was sitting on a cot in triage area with absolutely no one around. We finally got home 4:30 AM.Kaiser use's the facility for some procedures for local members done by Kaiser Doctors. We did it twice - invoiced about $10,000 each time and after fighting with them it's reduced to $90.00.

This used to be a good hospital, when my mom was a head nurse. Now they care more about rituals than they do heath care. They denied me access to my wife for 3 weeks because I didn't have a vaccination for covid. They failed to inform me about her being moved until over a week when I finally was able to talk to her on the phone. Then they denied me virtual l visitation because they said I wasn't screened. They screened me,never showing me the results just saying I was positive for covid. No restest. This after August. They then decided to arbitrarily deny a home test. They have isolated her from me intentionally. Never ever ever take a loved one here! The management cares nothing for the family or their well being just what money you bring though the door.

Absolutely the worst ER in the nation maybe the world, beyond a two hour wait or more for a possible wrist fracture, go elsewhere, no wonder they are bankrupt.Stay away!
