George the supervisor wouldn't work with our general contracting business. He is a total nightmare. His staff is incompetent. He told me that he wouldn't work with us because I expected a quote for my general contracting business in a timely fashion. I have been in this industry for over 30 years. He is rude, a liar, incompetent, unjust, rude, unprofessional, and a disgusting example of what a business should be. We had over 100k of business to send him and he blew it because of his ego. He is a horrible person and Big Creek in Watsonville should not be worked with. Go with Hayward Lumber. They are professional, competent, and willing to go the extra mile for you. I would avoid this company at all cost.

1. They have what you need .2. Employees come to you to help.3. Fast,efficient, knowledgeable . 4. Price ? You get what you pay for !!Case in point : bought 2ea. 2x12 PT boards at 12 ft. At Home Depot ( 7 min. From home . They did not have2x12s at 14 ft. So I had to drive to Big Creek (45 min.) to get them .Home Depot boards had a brownWash slathered on that wiped off all over my gloves,tee shirt ,arms . Washed off with just water . and no preservative ( copper sulphate) visible.Big Creeks ? Dark black/brown stainWith copper sulphate smear all over the board especially in the soft grain .Get what you pay for !! Will get back in two years to let you know which boards rotted out ,Depot vs. Big Creek .

Clueless manager re customer service. I have been a customer of BCL for over 25 years. Recent order had the wrong size of fence planks (5' instead of 6') delivered to my house. Needed to build the fence that day, so used the shorter planks. I returned to BCL to request a refund for the amount extra I paid (paid for 6' received less expensive 5'). I even took pictures of the fence with the 5' planks. The manager said they delivered the correct (6') planks---that I must be mistaken. She checked their inventory and said they should have extra 6' planks if I was telling the truth. I showed her the pictures. She said I could have manipulated the photos (really?). After a bit more discussion she rechecked inventory and found that they did have extra 6' planks (exactly the same number I had ordered). She then refunded the money I was owed....without apologizing. A good business will apologize for their mistakes. A good business doesn't insult their customers.

Nice selection, but they never seem to stick to their posted hours. First try, "Oh sorry, we closed at Noon for inventory when they were supposed to be open until 5pm." Second try today, arrived before 5pm on a weekday and the place is locked up like Ft Knox.

Big creek lumber has all you need when it comes to building materials. A great local business, the staff here are very helpful and knowledgeable. I went here after I couldn't find what I was looking for at the big box stores. I needed some pine boards for my floating shelf project that i'm currently working on, this type of wood is difficult to find and they had it in stock. First class service and profession advice just made my day! The price was also exactly on par with what I had read online from other distributors. Quality products, I highly recommend - thank you!

all the redwood is milled in their own mill from local trees my house has TRex and all decks stairs landings and banisters are redwood solely from Big creek. Some has lasted 20+years being oiled linseed oil etc not painted. Painted wood rots from inside and thus it fails. . Redwood resists bugs, oiling displaces water ie rot.I learned this from a Big creek employee (cat skidder) over 17 years ago. Great family business.Great reputation.

Excellent experience today at Big Creek Lumber Watsonville!Fransisco in the lumber yarf went out of his way to.provide great service. There was also a young man in the hardware department that also provided excellent service.It is great to see a store and its employees proving excellent customer service.
