My elderly pup was a new patient and I am very grateful to have come here for my dog because everyone I came across who worked here was so compassionate and caring. The environment and establishment is welcoming and felt at ease here. I really do recommend having your pet come here because I trust that you and your pet will be taken care of!

Our first visit to the vet with our newly adopted companion was a heartwarming experience. The staff at Walnut Creek Veterinary Hospital were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, demonstrating a genuine love for animals. We were impressed by the waiting room, where each patient had their own semi-private booth, creating a calm and comfortable atmosphere.
Dr. Cayton, our veterinarian, was patient and took the time to answer all of our questions, putting our minds at ease. Our dog, a little nervous at first, was quickly made to feel welcome by the kind and caring staff. They went out of their way to ensure she was comfortable and relaxed. We highly recommend Walnut Creek Veterinary Hospital for their exceptional care and friendly service.

If you’re looking for a vet that cares about your pet and has a warm and caring staff this is the place to go to. We have been bringing our dog here for a while and they have always been good and responsive, decent waiting time and clean facilities. But recent events has now confirmed that we will be long time continued customers. Was taking my pup for a check up and upon getting there, I unfortunately left the key in the back and my dog managed to lock the car and I couldn’t get to him. I immediately went inside to inform the staff just so that they know we were there for the appointment and wasn’t a no show. I was in no way expecting any help but they immediately came out and the manager offered to give me a ride to my house so I can get my spare and the rest of the team immediately put cooling wet towels on my car and shade to help control the internal temp while the vet checked on him to make sure he was doing great. We managed to go and quickly come back as I lived close but if this doesn’t show dedication and next level care I don’t know what does. I came back to find the staff tending to my guy and when he was out of the car (though calm as their presence helped a lot) quickly rashed him in to check his vitals and give him water. Crisis averted but would not been possible had it not been for their thoughtfulness, caring and compassionate nature. I would highly recommend. Thank you WC vet staff. Monti loves you all !

I've been a customer at WCVH for around a decade now- I have never had a complaint about the care provided to my animals. But in the past few years as my oldest pup was declining I realized just how exceptional the care is. The thoughtfulness that is put into the difficult conversations and the empathy shown to me and my pup through the process I feel are unmatched. I can not recommend WCVH enough to care for your furry family members throughout their lives.

We are forever grateful that our dog was a patient of Dr. Cayton! We have recently moved out of state and are so grateful to have had such amazing experiences working with her over the years. She was kind, considerate, took her time to truly take a good look at all of our dog's stats, heard and discussed any of our concerns and celebrated our wins. We will miss her and the hospital in general, everyone is so friendly and efficient. Thank you!!!

My husband and I love our vet Dr.Thistlethwaite! We've been coming here for almost a year now and we've always had a good experience. First of all the facilities seem pretty new and it's definitely very clean. I love that the waiting room has little bays, it definitely helps with hyper-reactive pets! There are plenty of people at the front desk to check you in so you never really have to wait. For the most part, once we are checked in, we usually are brought to the back within 5 min for the technician to get our dog's weight, temperature and just some basic notes. Once that's over with it's usually a pretty short wait until the Dr sees us. There was once where we waited over half an hour to get seen but that seems to be a one time thing. Anyways we love that Dr.Thistlethwaite is super patient and answers all our questions. But what we love the most about her is that she's honest and never recommends treatments that aren't necessary while keeping our dog's best interests in mind. Our dog had a really bad ear infection while we were out of town and we had to go to another vet to get him checked out. That vet told us we would have to put our dog under to see if there was anything stuck in the ear and then also charged us for a TON of tests without really explaining to us why they were needed. We ended up getting meds to help with the itching and inflammation first and immediately scheduled a visit with WCVH. Just 2 days later we were able to see Dr.Thislehwaite and they were able to drip some medicine down our dog's ear canal WITHOUT putting him under. They didn't have to do any blood tests or what not that the other vet told us we had to do. Everything was super transparent and we ended up paying WAYYY less with WCVH and our pup felt better in a couple of days. Finding a vet for your loved one can be really hard sometimes. We've seen a couple with our pup but WCVH has been the best so far and we're very happy to continue going there!

What a horrible place. I am a very logical human and never post negative stuff on yelp. However, I will never come back here with any of my 3 dogs, One of my dogs has heart issues and unfortunately it is affecting his gums and teeth and he had to undergo surgery. It was a super risky surgery - so my anxiety was already on high alert and not once did they make me feel comfortable that they were going to take care of him. They just are all hot messes and really did not have my dogs high trauma at heart or the whole pre-op process. They kept messing up his tests and not communicating with me what he needed. I have had several spinal surgeries myself and I am not a novice to tests or pre-op protocols but wow I was just in total shock of how dismissive they were about the importance of his tests and how they just did not care how high trauma and abused my dog was. I had to drive all the way to Walnut Creek from Oakland 3 times because how much the techs and front desks were disorganized for his pre-op stuff. Then on the day of his surgery we all agreed I would arrive at 8:30 and they were to take him in right away as it was important for me to keep his heart calm as much as possible before risky anesthesia BUT they didnt take him in till 12:30PM!!!! WTF!!!! I did everything in my power and killed my back (While Im recovering myself) to try and bend down and hug him and keep his anxiety low but they made us freakin wait for that long. Just what a hot mess of a dump of a clinic. I have had multiple dogs my entire life and have dealt with multiple vets. These people just didnt care didn't want to try and be better. They kept dropping the ball and were not really apologetic and I and my dog should not have been put in that situation with high anxiety and I killed my back for weeks after that. The vet herself was nice but only interacted for 2 seconds. Tried having her call me before the surgery as we had to discuss her tests and cardiac tests but nothing. I had to keep just begging for a callback before the surgery. I should not have to do that with a dog who is about to have risky surgery that could put him through cardiac arrest. The only reason I went through with this vet because I didnt want him delayed even further doing the surgery as I go through a whole new vet. My dog is alive and fine now but we both should have been made to feel more comfortable and secure for such a fearful situation. And seriously frick this place. Never again.

Awesome service. They have a lobby that accommodates privacy for you and your loved one. While I was there I witnessed a sasssy customer question wait time. The employee took it in stride. Absolutely loved that they made a follow up call to see how my pet was doing. Can’t say enough good things about this vet.

We've been taking our two cats here for 3 years and haven't had a negative experience. The staff is so kind, attentive, and genuinely cares about the best interest of your pet. They go above and beyond to keep your pet healthy and are very gentle in the process. In particular, Dr. Thistlethwaite is an amazing veterinarian. She cares for your pet as if it were her own pet and takes time to answer all questions and to make recommendations in the best interest of your pet. She has a calm, compassionate demeanor and creates a wellness plan (blood tests, dental care, nutrition, etc.) that elongates the life of your pet as much as possible. We'll be coming back to Walnut Creek Veterinary for as long as we have pets. 10/10 would recommend!

Can't begin to describe how appreciate I am of WCVH and their staff. Fantastic service, knowledgeable and patient, excellent customer service. They ensured to make room to see my dog when she had to return for the second time today due to an emergency, even though we had already had our appointment. I've super happy I made the switch to them, thank you Dr. Xanth and staff!

After being rudly talked to for the 2nd time and scolded for medicating my cat, I'd have to say this isn't the greatest place.

I chose WCVH when we moved to Walnut Creek because they claimed to be built on the foundation of treating you and your pet family like their own family. Not only have I found this to be the case beyond my wildest expectations but it is also combined with incredible veterinary skills and competence. I can not thank Dr. Ikezawa enough because she diagnosed my dog's anal sac cancer three weeks after seeing my vet in San Francisco for vaccinations and an exam. I was only at WCVH to get established with a local practice, meet Dr. Ikezawa for the first time, and discuss a possible dental. Because Dr. Ikezawa took the time to do a thorough exam (even though Navi had an exam three weeks earlier) she was able to find his cancer through a completely incidental finding. If it weren't for Dr. Ikezawa our amazing dog might not be here today. I want to thank Dr. Ikezawa, Danielle, and the whole WCVH staff for how they have treated us during our dog's health journey over the past three years. They called when they didn't need to call to check on us and to answer questions that we had. It's been the type of animal hospital experience one would create in their mind if they were designing what good care looks like. Thank you Walnut Creek Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Ikezawa, Danielle, Olivia, and the whole team.

We love WCVH. From the front office staff to every vet tech and vet- they are helpful and kind. They also always run on time. I've never waited more than 5 minutes We go see Beth for acupuncture services on a monthly basis for our dog. It's been a complete game changer in terms of quality of life! Highly recommend!

When we pet parents go to a veterinarian we expect them to perform normal tasks like spaying, neutering, vaccinations, and health checks. For those tasks most veterinarians can be thought of as competent. But, I suggest that the one thing that sets Walnut Creek Veterinary Hospital as leader of all other vets is the way they support pets and parents at the end-of-life. We just went through that with another of our canine family members yesterday. Jill Christofferson, DVM and her staff of doctors, technicians, and clerical people were empathetic and caring through the entire process. There was no rushing. They asked how we would like to be involved. And they were genuinely sorry they had to perform what must be for them a terrible part of their job. They invited us to stay as long as we liked. When we checked out at the front desk, there was a candle burning and a sign asking for quiet because someone had just lost a family member. That's true caring.
