Candace is the best!! I have super thin and fine hair, and she always does an amazing job cutting my hair. I went really short and did bangs this time, which I haven’t done in a while. I feel SO CUTE!! It’s the haircut of my dreams. I had prepared like 10 reference photos, and in the end I didn’t need to show her any of them, because she really listens to what you want. I hate washing my hair after her appointments because she always styles my hair so cute, and I can’t replicate it!! Lol <3

I went to the Grove for a hair color touch up. My hair stylist was fantastic. She was extremely professional and friendly. Her name was Larada and she took her time reviewing my existing hair color and discussing any concerns that I might have. I would definitely recommend this Salon, I'm very happy with the service that I received.

I got highlights from Leila on a busy Saturday and the experience wasn't good. She took her time and seemed thorough, but unfortunately she doesn't know how to highlight hair that's been previously highlighted, so I got banding on my mids (a row of dark color in the middle section of hair length). What annoyed me further was there were no sinks available when the buzzer rang to wash out my toner. So I had ammonia toner sitting on my hair for about 10 minutes longer than I should have because no sinks were free. Lastly, they didn't ask about Aveda points so I didn't even get credit. It's feels like a Super Cuts there, not Aveda.

Called for a quick trim and they were able to accommodate me literally within 10 minutes as a walk on appt on a Friday morning. My trim actually was I want to say less than that and it was efficient. Staff was friendly and my 4 inch trim was $30 without gratuity.

I'm only giving one star and that's because of the lady who cut my hair last time before today that actually deserves it. Today I went in for a trim on my layers and cutting two inches of the base of my hair. I wanted long layers, face frame but able to put my bangs behind my ears, and lots of movement and bouncy. I showed Denise two pictures of how I wanted it. I specified during the hair cut if it was going to be short or not because I didn't want my hair to be super short. She said no it's still pretty long. I told her TWO INCHES from the base. The rest of the layers just trim. She in fact did not cut two inches. She cut probably 3-5. I never cried after a haircut ever. I should've known it was going to be a mess after her not washing my hair first before cutting it. Terrible terrible job! Not to mention I specifically asked for someone who's good in layers yesterday for my appointment today. So sad. I came out with the complete opposite. She was pretty nice, I just think she needs to pay attention to what the customer wants and reassure them while not doing whatever she wants. She also needs retraining in layers because it looks like a straight haircut! So disappointed.

Thank you, Rahi, for the quick refund. I appreciate that you took care of that. I'd still echo what a previous unhappy customer described what I also saw. The fact that your salon is unbelievable unkempt, messy, and dusty for a beauty salon. Beginning with the chairs pushed by the window as if if were a warehouse. The stations are so unclean and greasy. It will be hard to believe that they have been ever disinfected or in line with covid-cleaningness requirements.There is a depressing feeling and of lack. I'll suggest the owner to declutter the whole salon, clean up consistently, hire a good janitor, and keep the salon not only clean and neat but beautiful. THESE WILL BRING YOU ABUNDANCE. The Indian goddess of abundance, Lakshmi, loves beauty and cleanliness. Best wishes!

I've never gone home from a haircut and cried before, but there's a first for everything! I've never had an issue with Candace before, as she's my mom's hairdresser and I see her every once in a while when I'm home from college. I've never wanted anything too "crazy" or unorthodox, so I usually just figure anyone will do. I asked for lots of layers, something I was very sure of as I have a bit more of an alternative style and wanted to be able to spike the tips out every once in a while. She didn't touch the long layers I already had in the back other than trimming an inch off my overall length (that's fine, whatever) but I kept asking for more intense face framing. When the shortest part was about where I wanted it, my hair was two starkly different lengths instead of being gradually blended. She blamed my previous hairdresser (in Santa Cruz) despite her being the one that made me realize I liked a lot of layers on myself. As this is going on, she kept making passive aggressive comments about my colored hair. Color is something I take pride in doing myself, as it's far cheaper and a sort of rite of passage in the alt scene. I had rinsed it a bit earlier than I would have because I had already been up late, so there were some parts where the color didn't take as vibrantly as others. Throughout the appointment Candace kept telling me I needed to overlay the color again, pointing out any spots that were slightly lighter, pointing it out to her coworker, and overall making me wildly uncomfortable at the unwarranted critique. It would have been one thing if I had entered the salon and said "what do you think of my color?" No, I didn't ask. I just wanted a haircut. Unwarranted and unwanted "advice" is just straight up criticism and it made me feel bad about myself despite the fact I had really loved my color. She made me feel so ugly so quick, and at a point I just didn't want to keep asking for more layers as she wasn't taking me seriously. I'll just learn to cut it myself or go back to Pleasure Head when I'm back in Santa Cruz. Thinking back, at the beginning of the appointment I asked about her snake bites and whether they bothered her teeth (I've always stayed away from oral piercings from fear of this) and she pulled her lip down to show me. I was genuinely interested, but I realize she never left my side to go wash her hands after having put her fingers in her mouth, and then proceeding to touch and cut my hair. Even pre-covid I would have been grossed out.

I’ve been taking my tweens (and now teen) here to see Candace for several years now… She always does a great job and makes them feel really cool at the same time. She’s very professional, but also very friendly and kind. She will also make your tween feel glamorous with an amazing haircut!

Salon has a good atmosphere. Highly recommend Candace if you have curly hair. She will cut wet or dry depending on your preference and understands curl patterns. Staff is friendly and professional. Open till 6 PM, so great if you work a 9-5.
