Huge store but overpriced on EVERYTHING: pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, office supplies & furniture; you name it. It's always empty and I can see why. It carries the strangest non-office items, all so dusty, at inflated prices. We walked to the back of the store to use the women's restroom, opened the door to a disgusting, filthy space. I looked in, grabbed everyone and walked right back out. No way. How do employees use these dirty toilets & sinks with over-flowing waste cans, trash all over the floor, broken dispensers, and greasy gross marks everywhere. Someone should call the health dept. We will never step foot in this store again

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AT PRINTING SERVICES. I went in today 1/3 at 10:45 AM, in hopes of getting important documents printed. I went to the self printing printer which reading the directions made no sense and didn't comprehend. I then asked the older gentleman at the counter near the printing services, asking how to print documents. I asked him twice for help and twice he told me "by reading the directions you'll be able to print". Frustrated, I went to the cashiers and asked for help. One guy said he wasn't familiar with the printing services and pointed to the older man saying he could help. I then replied, "no, he doesn't want to help me". I exited the store extremely disappointed. Pretty much don't come here if you want decent customer service or help.

I’m not really a person who complains a lot about retail services (having been a retail manager for 6 years, I get it) but this location and time was my first experience with OfficeMax printing. I had to get some cards printed for my boss (I work at a funeral home and cemetery), and brought with me an example of the size I needed. When I walked in, no one greeted me, and it was almost impossible to get anyone’s attention. The store was practically empty. I walked over to the printing counter and two gentlemen were standing there, one younger, the other older. The younger man was helping a woman, and the older one was focused on the computer. I stood in line for about 10 minutes while the young man was helping the woman, when he finally looked at me and asked if I had a question. I said no I need something printed. He said “once I’m done with this lady, this department is pretty much closed.” And went back to help the lady. I’m thinking whatever, I’ll come back tomorrow. It was kinda rude the way he said it though. The next day (today), when I walked over to the printing counter, it’s just the older gentleman and he asked if I had a question. I told him I needed to get something printed, and explained what I needed. The example that I brought, he explained to me that they only have that material of paper in blue and green in the store, which would not work for my boss. If I wanted ivory, I’d have to special order it, which I understood. So I asked what my other options were, to which he slid some notebook at me and started going on about things I didn’t really understand. I called my boss to explain that they only had those two colors, and to ask what color I can do. Even my boss being on the phone and hearing the guy talk to me, said he was really rude. As my boss told me white, and a lighter material, the guy had already walked away to help someone who was working on the printer. I’ll remind you, this is my first time here, so after feeling helpless, I decided to just leave. I cannot stress enough that I understand how retail works, but there was absolutely no excuse for the lack of awareness. It was just so unprofessional, and I’ll be avoiding doing business here.

I can't think of anything negative about this store in particular. Every time I walked into the Walnut Creek Office Depot/ Office Max, I always receive quality customer service. I have never been turned away for anything, nor has anyone ever ignored me or kept me hanging.

I’ve been coming to my local OfficeMax for many many years. I keep coming back because the people in the copy area are extremely helpful and I always look great with any project that comes from here. The service here is always great including today or Lyndee help me out finding the ever elusive, chalk pens. Thanks for another great experience. In and out so quick and with everything I need !!

I really wanted to support OfficeMax because it seems like they're dying out - last time I visited, the store was pretty sad. Picture a building built in the 80s...scuffed and worn out tile...1 or 2 customers milling around...dusty products sitting on the shelves. Reminiscent vibes of Bed Bath and Beyond right before they went under. I needed a printer for school earlier this year, which I purchased at this location. It was a surprisingly pleasant experience and the gentleman who helped me get everything I needed (paper, ink) was super nice and added a ton of coupons to my purchase. I ended up spending the bare minimum for a printer, two giant reams of paper, and a combo pack of ink. I walked out feeling really happy. Fast forward to now, I'm out of ink. I called Officemax to ensure they had the type of ink I need. Guy on the phone said the wrong printer type, I corrected him, and then he checked the stock. He said the ink was in stock and a combo pack was $70. Whoa! I know ink can get pricey, but I sure as heck did NOT spend that much when I initially bought the printer. I politely asked if they have any coupons since I got so many last time. The guy very curtly says "We don't do discounts on ink." Well, I know that is a flat-out lie, because your coworker discounted it on my last visit. I let him know that I purchased my printer there and I didn't recall spending that much on ink. Silence on the other end, and just when he started to say something like "Ok, have a good night," I promptly hung up. I found the ink for $35 at Walmart. I know they're a larger company than Officemax, but half the price? Really? Something is up with Officemax, and I'm not into the cost or the attitudes. Also, even though I corrected the dude about my printer type, I discovered he still checked stock on the wrong printer/ink code. I won't be shopping with them again based on my latest interaction.
