never again. they changed main and secondary batteries (or said they did) on my XC90, only in half a year for me to change them again. alternator was good, no electrical drain anywhere. so next time I will go to the official dealer, even though the dealer is more expensive (not much actually, when I look at both invoices next to each other).

I've owned 3 Volvos and generally familiar with what typically goes wrong with them (V70, V50 T5, XC90 T8). All of them previously serviced at Lawrence / Walnut Creek like clock work. 1) I appreciate the Volvo knowledge of talking directly to these guys versus the typical Service / concierge person having to check in with the mechanic at the dealership. Explanations received and competency is just better likely due to experience and less turnover. 2) Price of doing very basic things like cabin filter, scheduled service and brake / rotor is way more reasonably priced. Price of doing major ticket items is also way more reasonable. So regret not finding these guys years ago.

I had just bought a used volvo, drove less than 50 miles and an oil seal broke and all the oil drained out. I called a few places, decided on this one. I had to have car towed in from bay point. After talking to the owner(?) I knew it wouldnt be an easy fix. He got it fixed within the timeline, even fixed a few minor issues w/no charge. Nice guy, busy shop, very professional and he did what he said he would do with no upselling, etc. My car runs great now. Its not easy finding an honest mechanic. Ill keep him.

Brought my car in, an S60, for its regular service, thinking I'd try to save a buck over going to the dealer any more and to check this place out. Its been three months but I'm realizing I need to share my experience. The guy at the front was very very nice and reassuring even though the lot was so full I could not find a spot to park (an omen). He said they couldn't get to it that day but would be able to check it out the next day. No call the next day, or the next...so I call on the 3rd or 4th day at the end of the week. "Yeah, we found a _________ (not sure what the motor/valve/thing was) that needs to be replaced and we're waiting on the part. Should be here on Monday." I say OK. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday....no call. I call back on Thursday of the next week. "Yeah, we'll have it ready tomorrow, Friday by 3." $2,200 later I have the car. I just took it to the dealer for something, and lo and behold.....they say there is a weird part on the car that looks like its not installed correctly. ???? I go back and check the paperwork.....fuel filter pump.... and the dealer fixes it for $300! Dude - I avoid conflict, but feel defrauded. DO NOT GO HERE! I get sweaty and nervous just sharing my story, but I would never go back. If you go here, make sure you get a written estimate beforehand, and ask for all of the parts they replace, as well as the original boxes and packing for anything they do 'replace' so you can confirm they haven't scammed you.

Great. But didn't return my call for the rest of the estimate to fix the cluster. Otherwise they're very knowledgeable on Volvos.

Independent Volvo Service told me my brakes were paper thin. Castro Valley Tire Pros inspected my brakes a few days later and said that I had 35% remaining. This strikes me as dishonest.

I came in for the first time for a routine oil change on my Volvo and I have to say am very happy with the results. The garage was full of both current and old Volvo models, some even vintage which was fun to see and gives me the confidence that collectors are trusting their unique and rare cars to their mechanics. I had a lot of maintenance questions and Antonio took the time to answer them even when he was obviously busy. The price for parts and labor where excellent. Always great to support a local business!

They fixed my car at a fair price and they know what they are doing when it comes Volvos. My car had a massive oil leak and after opening up the engine they said to rods had to be replaced as well. Total cost was $2,300

Only mechanic I trust with my Volvo S80 V8. Recently had my AC pump and condenser replaced. Managed to get the car back within 2 days. Amazing service.

That was the third time I came to your shop. 1st and 2nd was excellent. The 3rd times is terrible mechanics. I have my car service last Monday and Tuesday - not satisfied-their not trustworthy and honest mechanics, they don't fixed the problem mechanics charged me too high, I decided to go back to my old mechanic and they fixed it.

BEWARE. Went in for a routine check. Check engine light came on for the first time while leaving the service, and now have thousands of dollars of repairs on the engine.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I have been a customer of independent for over 10 years. The service has always been first class. I would recommend this shop to anyone needing Volvo service in the Walnut Creek area.
