Worker there was very rude. Sold me the wrong size of pointe shoe and would not take a return. No ribbons had been sewn on, they were brand new. I asked for my correct size that they had on file so I could order them online. She said that the store owned my fitting information and that I had to order through them.

What a disappointment. I went in to find tap shoes. The woman helping me had a very strange and off-putting demeanor. She asked me if I wanted to get flex or regular tap shoes. I said I didn't know the difference and she offered zero explanation. She brought me one shoe to try. It didn't fit. So she brought me the same style in a larger size. I told her I was hoping for some guidance. She said that everyone is different so she can't really offer any help. She said there are many options to choose from. So then why is she only showing me one model? There is a sign that says "$20 charge for shoe fitting with no intent to buy." I was hoping to buy but there was zero shoe fitting going on! She never measured my foot. She would just hover over me but say nothing. Very strange. I finally said that I needed to do more research before buying since I realized that my hope for help was not happening here. Completely discouraged, on my way home I looked for another store and called East Bay Dance Supply OMG the man who answered the phone talked to me for 20 minutes explaining about the various styles of tap shoes and over the phone recommended the shoe for me to get after talking to me about what I was looking for. Do yourself a favor and buy from East Bay Dance Supply. They no longer have a brick and mortar but there is curbside pickup and free shipping to SF east bay. He deserves the business. Contra Costa Dancewear needs to learn some customer service!

The employee was really helpful and knowledgeable! My daughter was just starting ballet and I had no idea what I was looking for. But the employee was patient and helpful.

I agreed with all the reviews about how bad the attitude is of the women in this shop . Unpleasant, consistently mean. Not sure what's wrong , been to this shop 10 times , lady is in bad mood, different lady too , bad mood if store is crowded , bad mood if the store is empty ,

Great customer service both times we have visited. Each time we took advantage of the appointment process to ensure we would get the advice we needed on dance shoes. Both times the shoe advisors appeared knowledgeable and displayed great patience with our particular needs. I appreciate their understanding, because getting the right fit and comfort level is not easy! ? Thank you!

The ladies here were so accommodating . I came her to buy/get fitted for pointe shoes for the very first time. They helped me choose the right pair of pointe shoes. They took their time to help me. When I was done they also help pick out the right accessories and sewing supplies. They were very kind and helpful. I will definitely going back !

The attitude of the women who work here are just horrible. They yell about masks to little kids and are just downright rude. I now order online at Pay $4 in shipping and don't have to get yelled at. I try to support local business but when they are unhappy and rude, I don't bother.

Stay far away from this business!! Its November 2022 nearly 3 years of covid lockdowns and the mask mandate was gone back in March in Contra Costa county. These maniacs discriminated against me and my young daughter! The rude staff refused us service because we cant wear masks due to medical conditions that per the CDC website says we are exempt. They dont care about their customers well-being so why give them any money? They made a little girl cry today because of their draconian anti-science mask policy. I hope they go out of business. They can rot!!!!!

This is a wonderful store. I went in and was greeted by Miss Coco. I was able to voice my needs and Miss Coco and her coworker (sorry can't remember her name) offered assistance and were very knowledgeable about the products I needed. I can't believe I almost didn't visit this amazing store because of the nasty comments and reviews. I also appreciate the fact that they are still are complying with health and safety regulations. I am a dance and cheer coach and I will tell every dancer in know to go get their supplies from Miss Coco at Contra Costa Dancewear!!!!!!!!!!

They were awesome. We called ahead and asked if we could come in without an appointment. They said yes but we may have to wait between other appointments. No problem. They said they require masks and we have masks. We got there and Coco, one of the owners helped us right away. She got us the right sized ballet and jazz shoes and while my daughter was trying them on we chatted. She is lovely. I am so happy we went there.

They do not carry enough variety of shoes. Head over to A1 in Castro Valley, they are fantastic! The service is questionable and beware, they force every person to wear a mask and love to critique the way you wear it. Definitely not a place to go unless you have too. You will leave feeling like you wish you did not give these people your money.

It's too bad this is the only dancewear store around. They have a monopoly on dance wear in the area and they know it, that is why they feel comfortable being rude to their customers. They have gone rogue and are still enforcing a mask policy, even though the county dropped its mandate and the CDC says they don't work. They claim to be immunocompromised. The Asian owner was the worst, and treated my kids and me like a walking plague. This woman has no business in a customer facing role. I was told by another employee I can go to San Francisco, the next closest dancewear place, if I didn't want to comply. Really? This and telling me how to wear a mask was the condescension I had to deal with on what was supposed to be a fun day for us. Had I known I was going to deal with this, I probably would have made the trip to SF, but we were there and my daughter needed her shoes and was almost in tears. Skimming many reviews, I see this store has a chronic issue with customer service and hyper paranoia with covid to the point of making customers feel dirty. The one star goes to the lady helping with the fitting, she took the time to find the right shoes for my daughter. I don't suspect this store will get better in the areas it's lacking. The only thing that will motivate change will be another store opening in the Tri-Valley and them losing revenue. I really hope that happens soon, otherwise we'll have to make the drive to San Francisco next time.

Very rude sales lady! I visited the store with my two girls intending to purchase a whole new wardrobe : tights, shoes, leotards, skirts. Upon entering the store, I was yelled and rudely pointed at from the back of the store to immediately leave and "get out" since I didn't have a mask on. I respect the mask policy but wasn't aware of it. How about nicely letting me know we need masks versus yelling at us and pointing at us in front of everyone to get out. I was shocked and just turned around and left. Un acceptable to march towards me, raise your voice, point at me and the door and be so rude. I have spent so much money in this store over the years and felt very un respected. You just lost a valuable customer!
