Staff was super helpful. I have had piroshki's before but never from a deli (prepackaged processed ones before). The atmosphere was a typical well out together deli with lots of Russian treats. There were some pretty good items... but most were a little bland for me.I always like to try new foods and this one just didn't leave me wanting to come back and try again. There was a quaint little patio outside in the back which would be perfect from the upcoming seasons.

Went in and bought some delicious lamb Samsa and Pirozhki to go. Warmed them up at home and they were delicious.

It is both a shop and a cafe. When I placed my order, all my needs were met, would you like more sour cream in the borscht? Here you go. Salo? Sure, not a problem. Garlic? Yes, it’s generally easy. I ate borscht and pilaf and it was delicious. I took with me more dumplings, a cake, and Olivier. Well, why do I need all this? If you haven’t seen normal food for a long time, then be prepared for your eyes to run in different directions. I want this and that, and here’s this one on top with a mound. And the most important thing is that everyone smiled at me, asked if everything suited me, if there was anything I could add or add. The American service definitely lacks this.

The most delicious and fresh Russian pirozhki, and absolutely incredible desserts. Amazingly friendly place.

Everything is excellent quality. The people are very pleasant. But the prices are high. I’ve never seen such a pricey Russian store.

We take out prepared foods and Eastern European products from this deli/cafe often. Love their stuff!Borodinsky bread, wieners, ice cream, cold cuts are great. You can often find Eastern European products here that are hard to find anywhere else.

Above and beyond. Having lived in San Francisco for over 15 years, NO Russian deli or restaurant comes even close. Staff is extremely friendly. The owner goes out of his way to show and explain all products. Fresh food, perfect selection, home-made bread, everything is only the best? Thank you!

Very solid russian market with great hot food. The pelmeni are quite good and the house garlic sauce that's one of the options for it is really great and not like how I've had pelmeni before (and I have had many before). The piroshkis and plov are also quite good. There's not really indoor seating but they've got some tables out back and it's a nice place to eat.

Our first time here post the change from a full sit down restaurant to a deli/market with outdoor seating. The food and service was outstanding and we look forward to coming back for more!

Super sweet Russian market & deli. Lots of imported packaged and frozen items, and some fresh meats at fair/average prices. They didn't have any fresh baked breads, but did feature some from Wise Sons Deli. They don't have any fresh produce.I tried a beef & cheese piroshki, warmed up. Wow. So fresh, such amazing ground beef. Not oily at all. I loved it. While pricey at $5.95, it was so so good.I'll be back to try:===============* Cherry piroshki (by 1030am, it was sold out)* The deli which opens at 11am daily: borscht, beef stroganoff; fresh pelmeni; chicken kiev; sandwiches.mmmmm

Why have I not ever been here??? Well, it took my friend's daughter baking here to draw me here and I have no regrets!Varvara helped me with my selections and they are all delicious. The mushroom piroshki is generously filled inside the tender and light dough. Nicely flavored, earthy so you can taste the mushroom. The beef must be the popular one because they were sold out just after lunch. With a check in I got a complimentary samsa. I chose the chicken which is super flaky and filled with moist and flavorful ground chicken.I've got a couple of cookies to try still that are personally prepared by pastry chef Colleen as well as a slice of cranberry cake. The store has lots of ethnic foods that are canned, frozen and refrigerated as well as a deli and coffee bar in the back.Parking is in a small lot out front that during lunch time is going to be packed. Park across the street in the garage and walk over. They have a seating area outside as well.I can't wait to come back here to try all the piroshkis and sweets.Support this great local business.

This is a small deli and bakery store in Walnut Creek. We needed to order a big cake for 30 people, so we tried a few cakes and ended up to choose two cakes: Napoleon and Sour Cherry cake. Both of the cakes were absolutely delicious and got an approval from all our guests. We had to drive quite far from San Jose to Walnut Creek, but it was definitely worth it.

Stumbled upon this lovely European shop and restaurant when running errands in Walnut Creek and just had to take a peak in. I'm pregnant and Slovakian so some of my cravings have been buchty so I wanted to see if they had some good plum lekvar (jam) which they did! I also couldn't help but get some pernicky! I will be coming back as they also have a good selection of meats and pâtés and I'd love to try the restaurant soon too! Very friendly owner and service too! Thank you for giving me a little piece of home!

What a fantastic hidden gem in Walnut Creek! My family and I started making Babushka part of our weekend routine as a special stop to load up on some of their delicious piroshkis. The have so many different varieties and we couldn't help try them all: apple, cherry, raspberry and cheese, egg and scallion, beef and mozzarella, cabbage, and more. I can honestly say that the apple and cherry are my absolute favorite!Besides serving such delectable treats, Babushka is family owned, and you can feel the love of their craft in every bite you take. We have many talks with the owners and their warmth, kindness, and dedication had us fall in love instantly. When you walk through the door you immediately feel like family and the staff are always patient and informative. Visits to Babushka are a constant reminder of how a family-run business should operate. It blows my mind when you see the one star reviews and the reasoning for them. I've said it in many of my other posts, but anyone who makes a habit of only posting 1-star reviews is someone that isn't happy with something beyond their experience with the establishment. We are living in the time of the keyboard warrior, who rather go home and type away angrily in the safety of their own home rather than voice any displeasure (whatever it may be) to the person in their presence. If you're hesitant for any reason, don't be! Stop by Babushka and try it for yourself, just once, and I am confident that you'll be hooked just like we have been!

Nice borch, good customer service. Prices could be better, but anyway, it is a good source of some rare products.
