I know it's been a while. Back in 2020 my husband and I had to lay our dog to rest. The whole experience was already traumatic and this place made it 1000% worst. Still to this day I tell people about our experience and how much I wouldn't recommend this vet hospital. My dog was about 7-8 years old and two year prior started having health issues no one could diagnose. We've spent thousands of dollars trying to find answers trying to make him comfortable and have a quality life. My husband and I would talk about how we would help him cross the rainbow bridge if his quality of life declined. we didn't want him to suffer more then he already has been. On July 31st our Mickey Bear took a turn for the worst. We reached out to 15 veterinary offices looking for end of life services and due to Covid everything everywhere was booked. until we called this awful place. Drove 40 minutes after Mickey said good bye to everyone. When we arrived we were met with the rudest nurse who made us feel like we were simply "just putting our dog down" as if we haven't put any effort into helping him. (this is as after we told her our story) She then made us go get exact change.(We borrowed money from my MIL because we were already in so much debt from all of the tests and medication) They wouldn't let my husband into the office even though we saw other couples go in together. He had to say goodbye to our baby outside. I honestly wouldn't wish this on anyone that has to lay their family member to rest. There so much more including the snide comments and eye rolling. I hope that they really take into consideration how hard this is and really treat people with the respect and empathy going forward. Sorry not sorry for my rant.

I recommend if anyone has a rabbit. They are very skilled at handling them and provide you necessary information that you need especially if you are first time.

Chris helped us through a stressful life situation... we were moving out of country and she did all the research and followed through to the very end even overnighting documents to us so that we could have a seamless experience!!! I have been going here for over 15 years when it was over in vista and when we move back I will continue to take my beloved pets here!!! Thank you so much!!!!

Charlie scratched his eye and got an ulcer, but after Dr. Nissen's debridement procedures, loving care from staff, weeks of drops at home, and patience, he's finally back to normal. We're so grateful to Palomar Animal Hospital!

On Sunday, my 17-yr old cat had a sudden end-of-life event, a saddle thrombus, which paralyzed his hind legs and he was in intense pain. Palomar is 1.2miles from my house, and I BEGGED them to let us come over for an emergency, compassionate, euthanasia and they wouldn't let us come over. Despite hearing the cat panting and yowling in pain in the background. They'd only seen my dog, not my cat and totally refused to help my cat. He ended up going almost 40min in pain while we desperately called for a vet...finally found one in San Marcos, however, it was too late. He died, scared, in pain, in his cage, in the car (and he HATED the car). I didn't want him to die this way. I am utterly devastated and so angry at Palomar. He could have been there in less than 5min and been spared a slow painful death. Chris Cooley the Hospital Manager and Erica Casas - Client Representative were who answered the phone and the vet on call was Linda Knox. At the very least, they could have referred me to VCA which is 24hr and is right down the road and I didn't know that. I could have been to VCA in 10min and spared my poor cat from suffering so badly.

This veterinary office came recommended to me. I called them on Thursday last week to schedule an exam because I noticed my pup was having some mouth pain and very bad breath. I'm pretty sure he needs a dental and sooner rather than later due to the pain he is in. I called them originally on Thursday, March 24. Because of scheduling conflicts I was told to call back today for a same day appointment for an exam, which I was happy to do since they aren't taking new patients but would see us due to the familial recommendation. I call back this morning, Tuesday March 29 and was immediately told, "Sorry, we aren't taking any new patients...and haven't been for a couple of months now." When I explained the situation and was told to call back, she pretty much just shrugged me off. Now why on Earth would someone tell me last week, after putting me on hold to get the vet's approval, to call them back this week to schedule same day. I know that our current state of affairs has left many businesses short staffed, but don't tell someone to call back to be seen then reject them. I'm so enfuriated because now I have wasted days trying to get help for my dog and have to restart the process of finding a new vet. The reception staff today, specifically Sonia, was definitely not even close to providing even a minute amount of compassion or customer service here. She didn't even want to help me in the slightest. If I could give zero stars, I would. On to the next...

No complaints really, the staff and doctors are nice my pup actually doesn't mind going here, and she doesn't run scared upon walking in. Only downfall is scheduling can be tough, they are a very busy office and with new animals being adopted since Covid it's gotten somewhat hard to get in for last minute emergencies. But would recommend as a main veterinarian

I cannot say enough good things about this vet office. The two doctors that treat rabbits (Dr. Knox & Dr. Nissen) are amazingly nice and know their stuff. Unfortunately I have two rabbits that suffer from GI Stasis frequently. They have saved their lives countless times. They are always patient with me and understand how much I care for my pets. I live about an hour away but I know I will get the best care with them. Sonya at the front desk is very sweet and always helpful. Highly recommend this vets office to anyone who needs someone experienced with small animals.

I have been going to Palomar Animal Hospital for the past 15 years for my cat Mario. The doctors and techs are all amazing. I go once a month to get a nail trim and Sara is great... always so caring for Mario. I wouldn't go anywhere else!!!

We had 2 visits for our bunny this year. First one was our bunny's vaccination and second was her spay. Dr Nissen and Kyle (vet tech) were so professional, patient in explaining things and very caring to our bunny. The whole team including Kris, Kelly and Brandon were amazing and we felt at ease. THEY TRULY DESERVE 5 STARS OR MORE. THANKS AGAIN

We followed Dr. Canseco from VCA to here (palomar animal) because of how amazing she is. We had to put our dog down just 3 weeks ago unfortunately but Dr. Canseco's kindness and hard work has never gone unnoticed. She did everything she possibly could for our fur baby and i'm forever grateful for the heartfelt experiences i've always had with Dr. Canseco. Our dog like any other would get so nervous going to the vet until we met Dr. Canseco, then he couldn't sit still once I parked the car because he was so excited to go see her! Dr. Canseco wasn't there when we put him down but she called me and left me a voicemail just a few days later and also sent a handwritten card in the mail from herself and the vet that was with us on that sad day. That just goes to show how much Dr. Canseco truly cares about her patients.
