Dotty is first-class all the way. She trained us (and our dog) incredibly well. I recommend her services highly!

We rescued Maddy, our Belgian Malinois, about 2 years ago from a local shelter. She was 5 years old, had been held on a 6-month quarantine, and was already showing negative behaviors. It became clear that she was going to need a very special and skilled dog trainer. We tried several trainers, and Dottie is by far the best!Maddy was not housebroken; she was anxious, skittish, mistrusting, and lacking in any form of obedience. She pulled on leash, lunged, barked, growled, jumped on us… etc. I was uncertain if I would ever have the skill to control her! Dottie helped with the process of teaching Maddy manners, trust, affection, and rules. Maddy is now loving, fun, curious, lovable, protective… without being aggressive. Dottie taught ME how to train my dog. Dottie is patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and my dog loves her!!Dottie has become an invaluable contributor to our family, and Maddy has responded brilliantly in her training, growth, and trust. Those who know dogs, know they are a great judge of character! I have such immense appreciation and respect for Dottie and her remarkable skills, values, and acumen in the area of dog training. She has helped in the development, improvement, and disposition of our precious Maddy.Dottie is a superior dog trainer, and we happily offer Dotty with our respect and heartiest support and enthusiasm.Robynet PerryDr. J. After seeing a friends’s well-behaved puppy, I got Dottie’s information. Best decision ever! The difference in our house is night and day. From tension and annoyance to completely enjoying our dog. I never thought I’d have a dog showing this kind of obedience off-leash. He is so much calmer and happier with owners who know what they’re doing! Highly recommend Dottie!

I was very disappointed by my experience. I inquired about Dog training and felt very judged and talked down to and was rejected to work with the trainer due to different dog training styles. I respect her decision but felt as though she jumped to conclusions after a 15 minute conversation and wish she was more opened minded to consider helping my dog and I.

Dottie Dunnigan is a first class professional dog trainer! We tried several trainers before we found her and they all pale in comparison to Dottie. With only 2 lessons under our belt we began to see huge changes! As we took more lessons the results were phenomenal: we have a much better-behaved and happier puppy. The was life-changing for all of us!! Highly recommend.

Dottie has an understanding of dogs and dog behavior better than anyone I have ever seen. Because of this she is able to change your dogs bad behavior very quickly and efficiently! But, most importantly, she makes sure you understand how to train your dog the correct way. Everyone is so impressed when we are walking our dog, how well he listens. Dottie is an absolute pleasure to work with. I have referred her to MANY people and they all love the results!

Dottie is the best! She trains the parents on how to be with their dogs. She gets right to the point, doesn't waste your time or the dogs time. She is firm with her instruction but if you follow what Dottie says you and your dog will be much happier....And the dogs respond. We had about five lessons with Dottie and our dog has been perfect ever since. If we, or our dog acts up, we know we can always go back and get a refresher course. I wouldn't go anywhere else to have my dog trained. PERIOD!

Dottie was recommended to me by my son whose two Dobermans were the most well-mannered dogs I had ever seen. Even before adopting my Mini Schnauzer puppy, I had watched hours of credible training videos during Covid 19 lockdown and I thought I was doing a fairly good job with her on basic commands. After she was fully vaccinated, I was hoping to get into a class situation so she would have some socialization opportunities. My son pretty much insisted I work with Dottie, so I called. I knew immediately that Dottie was serious and committed to families who were equally serious about having a well-mannered pet. Her fees reflect that high level of service, and that is what I received after the first one-on-one meeting at my home. Three private lessons are required before enrolling in her group lessons. I respect how Dottie wants to know each pet and owner before group lessons in order to provide a safe environment with consistent and rapid progress.Dottie helped me “unlearn” some of the not so helpful movements and words I had been using during the early video training and took great care to explain why she uses specific words and actions with the dog. She is strict but always with great care to be positive and consistently kind toward owner and puppy. I highly recommend her.

Our Miniature Schnauzer puppy is a handful! She is our third Schnauzer and we know how stubborn they can be. But they are beautiful, loving, loyal and very protective, especially to their primary caregiver and that's me. I felt I was thoroughly prepared for this adoption with the crate, proper collar, toys, treats, premium food and baby gates. I watched hours of training videos on YouTube - stay at home covid guidelines gave me plenty of time. I was ready! When we picked her up I was smitten. She was so sweet and loving even with those razor sharp baby teeth. My positive training methods were working! I kept a log of her feeding, play and nap times. She was a dream puppy to crate and potty train. Then she hit 3 months, her vaccines were completed and she was ready for the outside world.I had leash trained her in my house and in the yard with great results. Her first walk outside was a nightmare! And the nightmare continued as she pulled and seemed to choke the entire walk. I was stumped. I tried again and again, to no avail. I needed a trainer. My son used Dottie to train his two Dobermans and they were incredibly mannerly and obedient. So I called and arranged a session in my home. Dottie made recommendations for the tools that would help regain control, and helped me to see how the way I approached training needed to be more authoritative. She is not only skilled in training dogs, but in training owners how to be successful with positive reinforcement. She shares her knowledge and reasons why certain techniques nor tools work better for the individual dog. She knows dog body language and showed me the subtitles of my own body language and tone of voice that were not working. She was very encouraging and patient. It could be a coincidence, but the negative reviews I read on Yelp seemed to be all men. I get how some men might be intimidated by Dottie's confidence in her method of training. But she has given me confidence that my relationship with my dog will be enhanced by the great training we have both received from this incredible woman. I highly recommend.

Contacted Dottie based on reviews. Unfortunately, we did not have a good first meeting or a good first impression. We paid $150.00 for her to sit and watch our dog's interaction with myself and my husband for one hour. She did not provide any valuable feedback to facilitate basic obedience. She did mention classes that she holds but we were not interested in attending. After this failed meeting we were able to locate a very good dog trainer who was half the price and much better on instruction, guidance, suggestions and multiple tips for successful obedience training for our dog. I would recommend you continue searching if your considering K-9 nutt for your dogs training.

K9 Nutt Dog Training has helped me create a strong and positive relationship with my pup. He is by far the most well behaved dog I have ever had, and the training has helped me grow personally. It's more human training than dog training, and it is worth every penny spent.

We are so excited about training with Dottie! She is very professional and knows what she's doing. There are so many dog trainers out there so we did a lot of research. After the second personal training session with Dottie, our dog "Journey" was already showing huge changes. Journey is our 11 month old German Shepard and she was starting to show very protective behavior with the family. She would aggressively bark at everyone that came to the door and we would have to put her into the backyard. We now have hope that we can take her outside of the house and feel confident. We know that we made the right choice in K-9 Nutt and Dottie. I am highly recommending her!

Would definitely add she is (very) unprofessional. Made us want to call the first contact back, which we will be. She left us with a very hope-less feeling. Don't bother being nice. And she won't come to you. This trainer also is unable to refer to anyone else. Huh? Not promising. Seemed disregardful in many ways and it hurt. No pun. We WON'T stop our search. Make sure you are close by this business or you may also be rejected. Find an owner-friendly dog trainer if you can. We found neither with Dottie.

We are in training with Dottie and our seven month old pups are doing great. She clearly explains everything, demonstrates what we are to do and gives us immediate feedback while we are implementing what we just learned. The one on one sessions have been important and we are now looking forward to group classes. We highly recommend Dottie. It is the best decision we made for us and our pups.
