Late Saturday evening, we had to euthanize our dachsie, Jasmin. With great sensitivity, Office Manager Devon told us to bring her in right away and guided us through the process. The entire staff at Horizon was extremely kind and compassionate throughout this whole devastating experience, especially Dr. Nora Badal. Her expert care in performing the procedure was exceptional. We've been through many such situations before so we are able to confidently make such a statement regarding Dr. Badal. We are grateful that the back staff fell in love with Jasmin for the short time she was with them. THANK YOU ever so much, Horizon! We would recommend Horizon with the highest regard!

Do not take your pet to this vet unless they are dying. I waited for over 2 hours for the tech to tell me there are more urgent cases than mine and she said I would be seen at the end of the other new patients. The other patients were not more urgent than my dog who had been yelping in pain all day. I strongly do not recommend them. The worst vet I have ever been too for any of my animals.

I just took my 16 year old Chihuahua who fell to horizon I rushed out of the house with only money in my pocket my dog needs an emergency care and they refuse to see her because I did not bring my ID they didn't care that my dog was going to die. The lady at the front desk was one of the rudest people I have ever met in my life. They don't care about the animals that is a horrible place

We were sent to Horizon by our local veterinarian ( Mountain Aire in Frazier Park) who had taken an x-ray and found some issues on our beautiful four-year-old Rottweiler. I proceeded to bring her to horizons at about 9 o'clock at night. On a Friday night, from the moment we walked in they treated us with caring compassion and respect. Our Rottweiler is truly part of our family and we love her dearly. From the reception desk(Bri)to the vet techs and the doctors we could not be happier! We called them a 2am to check and they treated us fantastic. We were lucky that surgery was not needed, but we do know that if we ever have an emergency we would go here. This is a 1.5 hour drive from our home but would be worth it. I want to say thank you to them and recommend them highly and completely.

The staff is helpful and well-trained. Even on an emergency weekend call. They are a very busy emergency vet clinic. And yet they still function kindly with stressed out pet owners. I wouldn't think twice about taking any of my animals to this clinic. We went in today for a minor problem, and they were attentive and great. We sat in the waiting room for a while and watched them deal with many stressed out, pet owners, and handling every person perfectly. Even the fussy ones.

In my experience with the Veteranarians and staff has been amazing. The Doctors and staff phoned me with updates, pricing was transparent and the wait time was reasonable. I highly recommend them.

This place has helped our pug twice this year (she’s a trouble maker!). The staff is super friendly and they really seem to care about your pets like they are their own.

The vets here took great care of my cat. She was very ill, and unfortunately had to cross the rainbow bridge. The staff treated us with incredible compassion and care, and they even sent us a condolence card. They were there for us during a difficult time. I couldn't recommend them more for emergency care. Thanks so much to the vets and staff for their wonderful care and support.

I've only been to your hospital twice, both under horrific circumstances obviously, but I've never met more caring, attentive, staff, and doctors in my entire life and that's human and pets. The card you sent both times with all of the staff signing... Is so touching amazing and heartwarmingand I just wanted to let the world know.

We arrived at the Vet Hospital at 5:45pm with our Shitsu who has an enlarged heart and other issues including some related to the esophagus and symptoms she had before we decided to come at our vet's recommendation. She had a coughing jag, was vomiting and was gasping for breath for around 2-3 minutes. We were told by the hospital employee that they were not receiving pets at that time. Whatever that means. I tried to explain over and over to the three people in the reception room that our vet had sent us up and their answer did the vet call them in advance? Like that made a difference, our vet had left the paperwork for us to bring with us, stating clearly the need for an ultrasound, the employees gave it a cursory look and told us that our dog's gums were pink and that meant she was oxygenating... they sent us away with a list of other veterinary hospitals in the area. We were unable to get a response from the hospital they recommended as it was just before 6pm and the message left said they closed at 6pm. I am still at a loss for the meaning of a 24/7 hospital not accepting pets. These people were very unhelpful and our dog continued to have symptoms previously mentioned symptoms on our way back to Camarillo.

WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER, I 100% do not recommend Horizon Veterinary Specialist. I took Roxy, my 14 year old chihuahua there on 1/29/24, for the first time. I have a primary vet in Valencia, but I was in Oxnard and felt that I needed to get Roxy into a vet right away. When I checkin with the receptionist, I advised her that Roxy had a primary vet in Valencia and gave her that info. I told the receptionist that Roxy was in pain, on heart medication and could no longer stand to poop which caused bruising to her cloaca area. I then showed the bruised area to her. I told her that Roxy pooped on herself while driving in the car to here and she told me that I needed to clean her off and handed me baby wipes. I then went to the restroom and cleaned Roxy. When I sat down to complete the paperwork, Roxy was agitated, in pain and kept moving around in my arms. A gentleman in the lobby felt bad for us and offered up his dog's blanket in an effort to calm Roxy down. Shorty afterwards the receptionist asked if I wanted a leash for my dog. I replied no, she weighs less than 7 pounds, and I only wanted to hold her and try and keep her calm. As I continued to complete the forms, the receptionist then asked me if I wanted a cage for my dog, and I again replied no, and added that I just want to hold her because she is in so much pain. As I sat in the chair holding Roxy in my arms for approximately 90 minutes, other people arrived with their pets. They were all seen by the medical staff before me. At that point I carried Roxy with me to the front desk and asked why hasn't Roxy been seen yet. The receptionist responded by saying that Roxy wasn't an emergency and that she was only there for a burst anal gland. I explained to her again that this wasn't a rupture anal glad, it was an injury from her not being able to stand when she poops. The receptionist then added that the vets are monitoring Roxy's behavior via their security cameras. At that point, I sat down in my chair again and called my vet in Valencia. They advised me to stay there since I was already there. After another 30 minutes went by, and I still wasn't called in to see the vet, I decided to leave. I told the receptionist that I was leaving, and she replied in a disrespectful way, that's fine. At that point I lost it and told her how unprofessional she was, how disrespectful she was, and asked her how she was able to diagnose my dogs condition when she was just a receptionist, and left. I called my vet in Valencia and let them know that Horizon refused to see Roxy. They advised me that they could see Roxy at 4 pm, so I drove to Valencia. Thank God there are vets who truly care about the well being of all animals. My vet concurred with me that Roxy's injury was caused by her dragging her butt on the floor when she pooped, because she could no longer stand. I asked my vet if she had a ruptured anal gland, and she replied no. Roxy was in so much pain, and could no longer stand to poop. She was also on heart medication for congestive heart disease. After careful consideration, Roxy was put to sleep. My heart is still broken that I waisted precious time with Roxy on her last day of her life, sitting in a lobby waiting to see a vet, that never happen and where they allow the receptionist to diagnose animals. I have since mentioned the way I was treated by Horizon to my friends and to my regular vet, and they all told me to write a review so other people won't have to go through the same treatment that Roxy and I did. I also learned that two of my friends have also had similar experiences with Horizon too. If you love your pet, the way I love mine, please pass on this information to others. I also reported this vet to the Department of Animal Regulations.

Dr Rhoades, Dr Gray, and all of the staff at Horizon saved our boy's life. He became very ill with what was later diagnosed as Gastric Hemorrhage. He spent 3 days under their excellent care, underwent a stomach surgery, and had all kinds of tests and even a blood transfusion. It is important to understand that this facility is a top notch medical facility, prepared for the most major accidents and medical emergencies. As such, if your pet is stable and another critical animal comes in, they have to readjust their focus on the other animal. If your pet is here, it's receiving the very best of care amd you need not worry.Vetinary care is not cheap. If you're pre-emptively reading this review, buy pet health insurance. If you don't, the costs can add up very quickly. Thankfully, there's a finance company called CareCredit and they make it easy to apply. This allowed us to immediately pay for the treatments required and spread things out interest free for several months. If you're having a pet emergency and reading this, I can't praise this facility enough! This is the BEST place your pet can be.

I recently had to put my dog, Scout, down after a long battle with chronic kidney disease. For the past 8 months or so, Dr. Herrera and the Horizon staff did their very best to take care of her and were always responsive to my questions or concerns. On New Year's Day, Dr. Scott was the doctor who was present for Scout's passing and she was nothing but respectful and kind. I can't thank them all enough for their care of my precious pup.
