Feeling pretty bummed after coming here today. I came with the intention of finding out information to volunteer. The girl at the front (green sweater- younger) was kind and said we can talk to anyone in a blue volunteer shirt. We went into the cat room and the woman in there was wearing a volunteer shirt. She asked how she could help us and I let her know I was interested in volunteering and wanted to see what it was like. I feel comfortable with cats and deal with anxiety which is why I came specifically to see the cat room. After being in the room for less than a minute and asking for hand sanitizer in case I wanted to pet a cat she asked if we could leave as another family wanted to come in to see the cats. As I looked at her perplexed she said it was almost time to close (it was barely 4 PM they close in an hour) and she wanted to make sure the family got in. It honestly broke my heart and I just left. I came here excited to learn but was quickly dismissed. I would like to add this family just looked in for a second and didn't even ask to come in. She assumed. She seemed immediately annoyed that I was there to find out about volunteering rather than adopting. This woman gave no information on volunteering and honestly made me decide to go elsewhere. She was an older volunteer in the cat room and this is happened today 4/28 at around 4 Pm. Pretty disheartening. This review is specifically for the cat room volunteer.

Came here after having a bad experience at another shelter. Everyone here was so kind in helping us and we got to take home our kitten that day. They gave us everything we needed for him. We will definitely be donating here in the future and referring anyone who is looking to adopt!

We adopted our new fur baby this week from here - props to all the WONDERFUL volunteers here who passionately advocate for all the sweet animals who need a home! The LA shelters do the best they can given that they are at 200% capacity - folks, always adopt from the shelter!! There are so many babies who need homes right now!

In 2020 I found my soul dog . I cannot encourage people enough to adopt an older dog . It was the pandemic so I had to adopt her without meeting her before. Gotta say I was apprehensive of this . I could imagine her getting in my car and her taking a dislike to me . Thankfully my middle aged PITBULL Roxy is a perfect match- with the help of training. Thank you for this wonderful little spirit who brightens my toughest times. In the off chance that her previous owners read this - she is so sweet I know you like vex her - she's doing great and brings me a lot of happiness- thank you for raising her with love . I will always older piitties from here . The staff is caring and friendly . Got a shout out when we were leaving!!!

They need assistance. Please give them more money so they can hire more people as they are behind. There was only one person working in the registration area and I had to wait a while. It was past closing time, too. Also, there were so many cute dogs in the inside glass case. I'm not sure what the difference is or why these cuties are inside. Please adopt. They need a forever home.

They were the least helpful animal shelter I’ve ever met. It’s like they don’t want you to actually rescue any animals. Their site is not updated, but when you ask them how to get in touch, they revert you BACK to the site. Which again, is not updated. I try to ask how I can see any animals they have available, they say that I don’t even get the option to adopt before another rescue or foster takes them. It’s so disheartening and makes you want to go buy an animal from somewhere else, even if you don’t want to, because it’s so much easier than dealing with them.

Very informative, a lot of volunteers helping the place. It is good to see that we still have feelings for animals as well as humanity to help each other.

Make a new best friend. But be aware puppies are a bidding war. Older dogs are a loyal and loving bet, that's how we got our baby.

They didn't fix my dog when I adopted her in 2022 now in 2024. I'm being threatened by LA county that I'll get a fine if I don't hurry up and get her fixed, nobody takes their free certificate to get a spay or a neuter they don't know nobody in LA take it, so I'm gonna end up paying five or $600 or $1000 that I can't afford living on disability to get a dog fixed so I don't have to end up paying a $500 fine East Valley shelter sucks

Adopted an elderly Bull Terrier I saw on Facebook. Sept 2 2023. A beautiful and wonderful addition to our small animal family?? The male volunteer staff was very kind. Helped me and "Zara" til we left. I just wanted the people at the shelter to know- It took a couple months for her to adjust. But she is the most loving and quiet dog. So gladto add her to our home. She's loved .Thank you to the shelter staff for all their help.
