My local boutique Ralph's! This smaller scaled down grocery store of Ralph's aka Kroger is a sometimes favorite for me and super favorite for my friends more within walking distance in this Valley Village/Sherman Oaks/Sherman Village area (not sure why this is listed partially in Van Nuys, especially if you know the area). It's very cozy and intimate and if you're a regular you get to know all the Ralph's crew (including security) pretty well! Everyone is SUPER friendly, personable and helpful. I will say when it's busy... It's BUSY and having less isle space as well as room to navigate around can be interesting to say the least. That said you can find almost all the major essentials and even a few of those very specific items you may need for cooking, baking or cleaning. It is more limited in stock in what can be on the floor, but everything is always pretty stocked up most days of the week, even on weekends after those rushes, though holidays and events can change that fast, but they'll usually have good alternatives if your go to burgers or brews are gone on game day. Plenty of room for parking and plenty of carts just outside the store. They have regular and self check-out, but self-checkout is limited to a handful of registers... Just about the same as their regular ones (I wanna say six and six). It's that quaint!

We call this store Rotten Ralphs because everything we've bought there that's perishable goes bad within a day or turns out to have already rotted. We thought it was limited to fruit. Then Sunday night my husband decided to stop by and pick up some fish. Mind you, this was fish from the fish counter wrapped in butcher paper. The label said "Best cooked by December 19." Guess what had gone bad by December 18th? You basically can't buy food here.

I shopped in this store this morning. They were out of SEVERAL advertised items. I asked if they were in back but there were none, according to Leila, who told me she was the Sales Manager. I then said I will need rainchecks. After completing my shopping, I checked out in Aisle 3 ( she told me that I could not do self check out if I wanted rainchecks). As my groceries were being bagged, Leila approached me to tell me the sale was through Tuesday and that I could come back for the items they did not have. She clearly did not want to write rainchecks.....perhaps she or the store get "docked" when they do not have advertised items in stock?? Finally got her to write them. Some of the items were 6-packs and I asked her please to write that on the raincheck. She refused ( why, I have no clue!!), and I told her I just wanted to make sure that when I came back, they did not think it was for the single bottles. She asked if I saw the single bottles on the shelves and I said I did not know but assumed they had them. She then took me over and we found the single bottles. She took one out and showed me it was a different size. I asked her why she didn't just tell me that instead of having me walk with her to another section of the store. And then, I just could not figure out why she was handling this so poorly and I asked Leila "why would it have been so difficult to just write 6-pack on the raincheck?" She mumbled something about they do not do it that way....seriously??? HORRIBLE customer service from Leila!!! This should have been an easy situation to handle (if she is the Sales Manager?)

Over the years I have become more and more dissatisfied with this store. Their shelf space is limited because it's a 50+ year old store and most of their stock items are Kroger. The back aisle, which has the milk and dairy, is so cluttered with excess displays and assorted merchandise that you can hardly get to the milk. The rest of the store is cluttered with cardboard display items that crowd the aisles. Today I stopped in for a gallon of milk. While I was at the Express check out the clerk left and said she'd be right back. While she was only gone for 2-3 minutes me and two other customers had a problem with our check outs. When I called out for assistance she came back and said," I told you I'd be right back. Do you want to check on my kids?" I replied,"No... I just want to shop at your store. The store that gives you a paycheck. There's no need to be snooty to me." That rude encounter was the last straw. I'll drive to the Ralph's on Hazeltine and Ventura from now on.

Is it my imagination or do prices go up at least 20% every time I come into this store??? Couldn't believe the price of their Private Selection ice cream. Last week it was $5.49 per pint. Today..$6.99!! You've got to f**king kidding me!! You just lost a customer. 24 count water..Carl Budding was .69 then $1.29!! They lowered it to .99. Nope. Tired of your games. Done!!! But inflation is coming down..bull f**king shit!

This Ralphs is the nearest location to me. If I have time to spare, I go to another location, and more and more frequently, other supermarkets. But often I don't have time to spare and need to go here. This location is always short of checkers. Even during busy periods, they frequently have only one checkout line going. So if you don't want to wait an hour to be checked out by a human, you have to use their infuriating self-checkout machines, which I resent, because I'm not on Ralphs' payroll. These crap machines mess up. A lot. And there's also a long line of customers waiting to use them. So skip this location.

WeirdCame in to buy a fruit bowl. A customer bumped me and I told him to say excuse me cause both him and his wife hit me with a basket. He told security and the security locked the entrance door. Odd behavior

My husband and I stopped at this Ralphs recently in the search for a last minute balloon and card. We needed a "Congratulations" balloon and non were available out on the floor. We thankfully were quickly assisted by Melinda and she immediately dropped what she was doing and filled a ballon for us. Such a kind lady, wanted to to make sure her efforts didn't go unnoticed.

I love Ralph's when it comes to options customer service depending where and convenience. However this specific Ralph's needs a good update with inventory as well as quality control. Purchased this Haig's Hummus yesterday and didn't notice that it expired back in October 6, 2022 and today is already November 14th 2022. Pics are posted below for evidence. Luckily I pulled the seal off and saw it before I was about to start eating it. Terrible please have your shelves checked for expired foods in the store and ensure that new one's are there so nobody buys expired foods.

This Ralph's is a joke by all means. They don't close their store in time , always 10-20min before.Staff are so rude , literally any of the workers has attitude. They don't get Apple Pay.Open chips bags and passed due date cans.Do yourself a favor and go to a different Ralph's or different supermarket. If I could I would rate this place -100, horrible.

I raced to Ralph's to make it before 1AM. Yes I was cutting it close but I got there at 12:56. And the door was blocked and the guy wouldn't let me in. I'm not happy about this at all. I get it, they want to go home but your business hours state you close at 1AM...... FAILED MISERABLY! so if anyone needs something from the store, like an emergency, don't take your chances and come here last minute... You will be denied access!

It's a shop closed to home, but now they only have 2 cashiers working and lines are going back to mid isles... wait is 10/15 min to get checked out. In many instances , cashiers are not bagging groceries, just waiting for the customer to do it themselves. Service level is gone down a lot. If this store wouldn't be closest to home, I would stop shop there entirely. Sad to see a well ran business to go down. :(

I shopped at this Ralph's market this afternoon, as I do once in a while. It is not the closest Ralph's for me, nor is it the Ralph's with the best selection, but it is not huge, the parking lot is usually not overflowing, and there is an absence of people begging, or people pushing you to donate to various worthy causes, or people pleading with you to sign petitions. I prefer to shop without having to deal with other issues in the parking lot. This is a smaller size Ralph's, resulting in a more limited selection of products. So this is not the go to place for specialty cheeses, or exotic fruits, or a big selection of baked goods, or a variety of kinds of smoked fish. On the other hand, if you are getting milk, ice cream, eggs, laundry detergent, frozen broccoli, middle of the road kinds of products, this market works just fine. It can even be a plus, for there is less opportunity to be tempted to buy something that catches your eye, but that is not on your grocery list. The grocery clerks here are reasonable people by and large. They are not super attentive, but they match the overall shopping experience.

This is my neighborhood Ralph's and I love it. It deserves way better than the 1 stars it's gotten. But trolls do exist...even on Yelp pages. I could go to the much larger store at Burbank/Van Nuys but it's farther. I go there sometimes when I'm in the area. What I specifically like about this Ralph's is that I can find things quick, shelves are usually well stocked and the cashiers always seems to be in a good and helpful mood. Shout out to the young man in the meat department and the cashier, Matthew. He is always cordial and ready to assist!!
