The smoked chicken is worth the trip! They have a really good meat counter and nice produce. In the past I probably would've given 5* but this visit the mango salsa didn't have much mango and the normally really good "store made" guac tasted like something from a jar. Ended up tossing it.

Nice people that work there but my favorite is the parrot. Can just chill and talk with him and he'll Bite my hair and talk to me. Sometimes he's in the mood for pets. I try to do it when the store clerk isn't looking cuzz if the bird bites me he thinks ill sue him but I just wanna pet the budge bird.

Went to grab a late night (7:15 pm) carne asada plate to find their kitchen was closed. No big deal. What caught me off guard was being called 'pinche guera' to my back as I walked away and for no reason at all. I make means to always be polite, always, and I said "okay thank you" after their kitchen staff said they were closed. There was no provoking or an exchange of more than few words so I'm not sure why one of two young girls working tonight decided to publicly insult me in a place I usually enjoy shopping, but I sure don't trust their kitchen counter anymore. If they are okay with blatantly insulting customers, who knows what they are okay with doing when no one is looking.

I sometimes have issues walking and the gentleman here he is awesome he always steps up and helps me and I appreciate it! Sometimes he is a little busy and I have to wait and I have no problem waiting because he is always fair and helps people in turn. Also it's me who needs the assistance and if he gets a little backed up with people I don't mind. I love this place cause the place in Escondido would never help me when I lived there. So keep up the good work!!!

If you are buying anything but meat from the meat market in the back dont waste your time. My last 4 containers of mushrooms were molded and slimy. I bought lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms, and meat today hoping for a good taco night. The mushrooms were molded once again and the lettuce had bugs and insect eggs on it. this is not only disgusting but a health hazard. I will never go back, not even for the great meat prices and quality. The FDA is on there way. Pics have been sent to them of moldy food on the shelves.

After lunch at Fat Ivors we left in search of fresh strawberries. Nice waitress mentioned the strawberry lady in front of Lilac Foods. We drove up and found the strawberry lady with strawberries. I bought 3 baskets for $7.50. She mentioned the strawberries were grown in Vista. They are juicy and full of sweet strawberry flavor. These fresh from the field strawberries are among the best I've eaten. I took a quick look inside Lilac Foods. It was almost the size of a Vons/Safeway. Good selection of items. It's great they let the strawberry lady sell her strawberries in front of their store. Back in the old days I loved driving up to Valley Center as there were many roadside stands to buy fresh strawberries. Sometimes the stand would be right in front of the strawberry field. All the stands I knew of are now closed. It looks like in front of family owned grocery stores are the only spots to get fresh strawberries in Valley Center now.

Convenient moderate sized rural grocery store. Excellent quality produce section. Very nice meat counter. Sundry items can be a little bit pricey but they are available

Expensive prices. Making people pay double the price, just so tgey dont have to jot 10 down the hill. Paying huge for convenience@
