Was a cute store, but the owner said something to me that didn't really sit right. I walked in and said, "I'm excited, I never get to go in here." (Because it's usually closed when I'm here, or busy at the market or pumpkin hunting) and the owner said, "Because it's a girl store." I'm like.. uh.. okay, I still could buy my mother or grandmother something here. I can't enjoy the store as a man? Very cool, thanks for making it weird

This is the cutest store ever and prices are not astronomical. The woman in the store was super friendly, cheerful and helpful. She went out of her way to help us buy a hat and she was knowledge of all the gifts on display. They also have a clearance room that was calling my name. This store sits next to the Bates Nut Farm's nut and gift shop. The store is full of unique items, if you're looking for a thoughtful gift. They even have gift bags there that are purchase-worthy because of they artwork and sayings on them.

This is a boutique next to Bates Nut Farm, that sells mostly clothes, jewelry, and lotions/soaps. They do sell other small trinkets, too. There is one disabled parking spot directly in front of the store, and there is a ramp to enter. There is a dressing room inside the back of the store, wheelchair accessible. The restrooms are directly outside the front of the store, between here and Bates Nut Farm. The woman working inside was friendly and welcomed us in! The store is very clean and organized, with TONS of things to look at. Many of the items are hand-made and locally made, so you will be supporting a lot of small businesses. It's a cool store!

Love this sweet boutique!! They have a great selection of unique, quality items. It's a place where you can find that special gift for your loved one who has everything - handbags, clothing, special soaps and lotions, jewelry, wall hangings, cute decorative pillows, hats, on and on. Their staff is super friendly and helpful. It's located within the Bates Nut Farm "compound" right next to their large general store. Definitely worth the trip!!!!

A little gift shop with neat knick-knacks on the Bates nut farm grounds. Even though we were the only ones in the store, the middle-aged female employee (who was doing absolutely nothing at the register) did not greet us or speak to us at any time during our visit. Made for an unwelcome shopping environment.

My husband and I got married at Bates on June 8th and it was the best experience in a wedding I have ever had. I am in the wedding industry myself and thought that ours would be no different than the rest and would have hiccups along the way... well... truly, there was absolutely nothing that we could have changed or that went wrong from start to finish. Amanda was such a pleasure to work with during the planning process. She worked flawlessly with my wedding planner and vendors, and accommodated every need we had. The grounds were perfectly groomed and lush and the staff was friendly and punctual willing to go above and beyond to ensure we didn't have to worry about a thing. We had such high expectations and a very particular vision, and Bates executed every detail flawlessly. We feel like we got punk'd in a way, because thats how perfect everything went. Our guests talked about how amazing the space was and we've had people tell us they want to hold events there after going to our wedding. It was truly a dream day and working with Amanda and the staff was the best decision we made. Thank you for the best day of our life. We look forward to many more memories at Bates over the years! Enjoy one of the largest and most beautiful properties in east San Diego. There's a really nice store here to buy nuts and sweets and a petting zoo with chickens, goats alpacas and more. Great excursion for the family on the weekend!

Love this place. Their general store has a bunch of tasty snacks (get the caramel corn puffs!) and a chocolatier that offers some good old fashioned fudge. There's also some cool nicknacks and home decor to bring home. The pumpkin patch is always a fun annual tradition. Plan ahead and expect heavy traffic around the weekends during the Halloween season. The roads into town may be windy for some if you take Woods Valley or Lake Wohlford - so practice safe driving habits and stay focused.

This is an amazing place to visit with kids and family. I have been coming here since I was little. They have an all natural shop with goodies and pet food for the farm animals. I will warn you, it's awful coming here during pumpkin season, it's packed and trying to get in and out takes forever. Come visit the farm on a random day, you'll find it less crowded.

Okay, I love this little nut farm in the wilds of San Diego county. On vacay in San Diego we had an extra day and while perusing the hotel lobby tourist info kiosk we found a flyer for this little farm in the mountains. It sounded like a delightful drive and a nice relaxing day after so much activity during the previous several days. So we went, and I'm glad we did. This was in mid November. I loved the drive up there. San Diego county is so beautiful and diverse. The chaparral covered hills interspersed with huge boulders are so dramatic and different than the fir covered Cascade mountains that I'm used to. On to the farm! If you like nuts, well, you'll love this place because guess what? It has nuts. It also has candy and other goodies and there's a little shop next door to the main store where I found a beautiful umbrella, (I live in Seattle, and yes, some of us do use umbrella's here) gorgeous scented soaps and lotions. It has a lot more than that too. It's a very feminine shop and I loved it. As for the farm; I found it beautiful and tranquil. Well, honestly, it's not really a farm, at least not in November, it's more of a very large field with mature trees here and there and some farm animals that can be fed and petted. As always, my favorite was the donkey. They're so cuuuuuttttee!!! It was a very relaxing, beautiful day and I encourage anyone who's visiting and wants to see more than beaches (though they are not to be missed) to take this beautiful drive and visit Bates Nut Farm. I think you'll enjoy it.

Wait, I hadn't done a review before? Are you kidding?! Truth is, you sometimes forget about obvious places, when they're nearby and you get used to them. I hadn't been here in a while, so now's a good time! I spent a lot of my childhood weekends on the craft fair circuit, and we did the shows here a couple of times a year. I have a different perspective than the normal kid. I was working, not doing the pony rides or feeding the animals. But I still got to pick out something from the general store, and I really looked forward to earning a treat whenever we came. The general store has an awesome selection of food, from nuts and fudge to BBQ sauce and jams. They also carry a lot of decor items, especially at Christmas. Tons of ornaments, figures, and small gifts. If that isn't enough, the Farmer's Daughter shop sells jewelry, gifts, and accessories as well, with some items made locally. So come for the car shows, art fairs, or food truck festivals. Not to mention the famous pumpkin patch and hayrides. Just don't forget the nuts, it's what made them famous!
