Rented a car last week from the 15th to the 17th of August. I reserved an economy car and reserved 60 per day and noticed I was charged 80 per day for a Chevy Malibu. They must not have had a smaller car, but I didn’t request an upgrade. So that’s one thing. Then as I am getting ready to board my plane from San Fransisco back home on August 19th, 2 days after I dropped off the car in person, I get a call from Hertz saying I had not returned the car, then they called 2 other times. I contacted corporate and found out the contract had not been closed. So neither of those situations are cool. Corporate is supposed to give me a refund and they had someone check in the car properly on the date I had returned it.

Amazing experience with Deborah! She was fun and kind. Loved our rental experience! Please give her a raise or a hug or cookie - she more than deserves it. This woman was outstanding!

Khalil at the Vallejo office provided exceptional service. During the rental process, he answered my questions and politely updated me on new policies that were amended regarding deposits. He also was attentive to my wife when i brought her back to pick up the vehicle. He spotted us on the lot and came out and offered his assistance. It easy a newer vehicle and my wife was not familiar with all the functions.Thank you for being a professional. Hope everyone else in the office follows Khalil's lead.

This review is in reference to a vehicle return today.
Definitely the worst Hertz in the Bay Area. The staff at this branch are rude when it's shown that they are incapable of performing their basic job functions. For example a refund, charging for the right vehicle tier, basic customer experience, even dressing the part seemed to be too much. (Oakland airport location AND vallejo regarding the clothing).
Regarding the refund they failed yet again yo understand that if you mess up that you need to take accountability not find reasons to not be at fault for delaying our leave and causing us to lose money due to Vallejo Hertz employees laziness. I say again people do NOT go to this branch as oakland airport and SFO will gladly tell you not to. It would be a very good idea for Hertz to take this review seriously
(Updated) their automated response to these issue and sending it directly to the person who is the problem is not the way. Time to escalate.

So unprofessional. The younger African American lady I dealt with was so rude. Told me the only vehicle available was an upgrade even though there were other vehicles available. It was like she was forcing me to upgrade my vehicle for a high charge. The business practice is very unprofessional and she refused to give me her name when I called and asked for it. Not mention she told me to go to enterprise if I couldn’t afford the upgrade. Never heard of a business telling me to go spend my money with another company instead of theirs. So disappointed.

I rented a truck and it wasn't available. They I got move to an Expedia promotion and got charged more. The vehicle I got smelled like dirty diapers and smoke. I do not recommend this plase worth pay the extra for enterprise.

Awful service, I have a confirmed reservation, with Expedia from last night, and they assured them they called to put me on a waitlist, which they didn't do. No solutions, no option. Just wait a whole day to see if they have anything available during the day. I can't JUST SIT AND WAIT FOR ANOTHER PHANTOM CALL. DONT GP WITH THEM. Btw I saw at least 7 cars parked at the location while I was there

Horrible experience. Careless staff unfriendly. Not a but of efforts to even listen to us. The car we took was dirty and smelly. Staff claim that Vallejo doesn’t get good cars from the main company. Didn’t know how to deal with presidents circle customers.

Probably the worst car rental service.
We reserved a vehicle 2 days before our trip. When we arrived, there was no vehicle ready for us.
After 1 hour of waiting we were informed that a vehicle present in the parking lot from the beginning must require an oil change to be returned to us later.
We are told 20-30 minutes of waiting without air conditioning and without offering us a glass of water.
The vehicle finally returns and another 30 minutes of administrative procedures that could have been done while waiting. And there, new problem: our debit card is not accepted for payment.
The person suggested that we come back with our American friend to settle the financial part and then someone took us home by car.
We show up with the correct card later in the day to collect the vehicle but they no longer have any available!
Hertz: 100% Negative Experience
Finally, we went to Enterprise, the competition. After a professional and warm welcome, we left with a vehicle after 30 minutes and without reservation. Of course this was done shortly before closing.

Shame on the management and owner. Zero charge on electric vehicle. Very kind and helpful staff could do nothing to help -- no alternative cars and no electric charger at the facility. Shame on you for stranding me and my elderly mother trying to charge a car after close on a Saturday. You should do better for your staff and customers. I hope you reconsider the life choices that brought you this place of failure in basic humanity -- just awful ?

I’ve read some of the other reviews on this location, and I agree with the people that speak highly of Debra. With that in mind, I’d like to complain about what I am currently experiencing with hertz. I had made an online reservation and all went fine until I got to the location to pick up the car. I was told that they couldn’t rent to me; I would have appreciated knowing this in advance; say at the time of reserving the car. They’re accusing me of something that I don’t remember doing. I’ve tried to contact the location but I can’t seem to get through to speak with anyone. As you probably can imagine, it was very frustrating and upsetting arriving at the pick up location and finding out that they were not going to honor my reservation. Hertz, you really need to rethink the way that you handle a situation such as mine!
