I stayed in a room with the Japanese Hot Tub and it was wonderful. That morning I had brunch in the courtyard while listening to live music. I was able to charge my car for free. The entire experience was wonderful

The Tallman Hotel is a very special place. The facilities are beautiful, quaint, clean and have a rich history, located in a more remote patch of Upper Lake, CA. The staff were some of the kindest people I have ever met and really made me feel welcome.
The surrounding area is tranquil offering ample opportunity for hikes and relaxation (highly recommend Wilbur Hot Springs if you're in the area as well).
I had a wonderful stay at Tallman and would highly recommend.

Once upon a time, I loved this hotel. I thought it was the best hotel for overnight stays in Lake County. I frequented the hotel and restaurant, I recommended it to many friends and colleagues.
But then I had an unexpected emergency, and I needed to cancel one night of my stay, 5 days in advance. The person who took my call did **not** inform me that I would be charged 100% of the night that I missed. When I explained this to Management, their response was to blame me.
Sometimes, when you have a loyal customer, it helps to take the long view. Sure, you can rob them of $260 in the short term and feel righteous about it. But doing so means that you have wrecked what could've been a decades-long, mutually beneficial relationship.

Such a neat little place! Right off of clear lake on Main Street and full of history! The blue saloon is absolutely delicious! We sat outside and listened to live music in the outdoor patio area while eating our dinner. Such a cool experience. The hotel has such a cool story and has been there since the 1800’s. Nice little stop on our way to Fort Bragg ?

For our ten year anniversary, my wife brought me to upper lake for the first time, to stay at this historical gem. The rooms are warm and inviting (although the bat picture takes a minute), and the tub out back was a delectable luxury of warmth and enjoyment in the rain.
Safety: Largest danger is the leisure of it all.
Walkability: The entire town is RIGHT THERE. Most things closed or limited hours due to the winter season.
Food and drinks: Only grocery after 8 is by the city sign as you enter town. Stick up if you don’t want to eat out for every meal.

Tallman was lovely. The historic country town of Upper Lake, love the detail of our bungalow. From ceilings to the tile on the floor, wall paper. Each detail gave a warm inviting feeling. The breakfast was delish. The kids loved the suite. Enjoyed our 3 day 2 night stay on the lake.
