Came in anticipating a wait but was relatively quick! The front waiting area was super clean and probably the cleanest mechanic shop waiting area I have ever seen. Pricing was fair - not expensive and around the same as others in the immediate area. The receptionist was sweet, approachable and nice! She greeted me and was an easy process. Cons: There was this older dude there (n who didn't greet me as I walked in and actually was staring me down as if I was doing something wrong and looked at me weird for interrupting his conversation with the receptionist. But I also started people down too - maybe he's a Virgo like me. Overall I'd come back.

Very friendly and fast service. I went in for a star certified smog check and was acknowledged right away. I was welcomed by a guy (sorry can’t remember name) who was very nice and welcoming. He was multitasking but was still very prompt with taking care of my smog check.I will be coming back and recommending friends here.

This is by far one of THE BEST & NICEST and also FRIENDLIEST Smog Check Certified place I’ve been to. I was greeted right when I drove in, the place smells lovely with some scented candles in the lobby and also very clean restroom. Friendly and professional staff. Open hours are on point on Google. I went to 2 other Smog places and it mentioned they were open but was not. This place is super so wonderful I am literally writing a review while siting here waiting. Never been more happy of an establishment, and was so taken back by level of service. I would totally recommend this place for all your vehicle needs. Looks like I will also be going here for oil changes and other maintenance requirements since they do it all here. Adding this to my favorites!

I just moved here and needed to find an auto shop and stumbled upon this place! The moment I walked in everyone was SO friendly and helped me and my car so much. I really appreciated their kindness and their service. I dropped my car off and stuck around to get some work done and my car was done by the time I was done! It was so quick and awesome. This place is legit. The main guy, George is excellent at his work. I brought a car here for a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) just to make sure everything checked out before I purchased. Turned out it was horrible! But thank god George was able to provide me a thorough and detailed report. When I say detailed, I mean DETAILED. Every nook and cranny. How often does it happen that the repairs actually cost less than the amount quoted? To me, not often. Yet that is what happened when I went to the Express Smog and Lube at their new location on Arrow Highway in Montclair. I had decided to go here based on a recommendation from my sister who trusts these mechanics. My air conditioning was not working well; it would fade in and out, which is very uncomfortable in this heat. After checking out the problem, I was quoted a cost of over $950. I really had no choice, so I set up the appointment to get it fixed. (They had to order the parts.) I brought my car in a few days later. When making the repairs, they found that one of the fans was working, so they didn't need a certain part. My total bill came to about $750 (since they could return the ordered part.) I am so impressed with their honesty and integrity. I wouldn't have known the difference, yet they treated me with respect. I will now be their customer for life. I highly recommend Express Smog and Lube in Montclair.
