Please read LAJ's response to her negative review."Annette,LAJ Wood Products has a return policy of a 15% restocking fee applied to any items returned within 30 days from the date of purchase. All refunds will be issued by check and mailed within 7 to 10 business days. Items cannot be returned for a refund past the 30 days purchase date.The date of your purchase was on 09/30/22, and you came to our shop to make a return on 01/6/23. Since your purchase date was well over 30 days, we could have denied your return. We are predominately a wholesaler, but we understand that some of our retail customers may need more than 30 days to complete their staircase project which is why we allow in certain cases for customers to return items for a partial refund past 30 days. However the restocking fee increases each month from the time it takes you to return your items.We would like to apologize to you if we were not clear about this, or if there was any misunderstanding regarding our return policy. I reviewed our email correspondence, and we did inform you of a possible increase of restocking fee that will be applied if returns are past 30 days of the purchase date. But since we did not have any additional info regarding your exact purchase date at the time of your email inquiry, we failed to inform you that the restocking fee was going to be 60%. You had the choice to take back your returned items but you declined to do so.It is nice to hear that your staircase has been completed, and that you are satisfied with our products. We appreciate your business and for writing this review as it will help allow our customers to be more aware of our company’s return policy when deciding to purchase stair parts from us. Take care."

Their products are good but their return policy is atrocious! My contractor over estimated how many spindles we needed. When I went to take back the extra that were new, still in the box and product they still sold the charged me a 60% restocking fee! That is just a way to keep my money and terrible customer service.

The quality of their products are great however their return policy is atrocious. My contractor over purchase spindles for my staircase. When I went to take the extras back I was charged a 60% restocking fee. That's ridiculous! I took them back as soon as I could given the timing of my remodel. They were in the box in perfect condition. They were also a product the still sell. This is just a way for them to keep my money and terrible customer service.

Amazing group of people who do not mind spending time guiding their customers. This is the customer service at its best. I called them numerous times with all kinds of questions (most of them trivial and annoying, since I knew nothing about building the handrail), but they never acted annoyed or fed up. Christian answered every single question I had and when I finally showed up to buy stuff, he spent a lot of time leading me thru the process, parts, options, etc. Highly recommended place!

Hats off to LAJ wood product for helping out twice. First to find a nice secondary hand rail we put up to help my elderly father. Second after a couple of visits, consultations with staff, looking at other staircase examples we finally came up with a new staircase for my house. I was able to place an order by email and my contractor picked up with no hassles. Thanks again!!

I am in the middle of home remodel and stopped by this business today. Shocked at the rude service by the owner. Being an engineer I asked questions of different designs and the owner grabbed my arm and pushed me out saying I should talk to the contractor. Shocked me asked what did I do wrong, he points me to "Right to deny service" board. Horrible person

LAJ's focus is customer service. As a building contractor and stair builder, I will only deal with professional, established suppliers, who go out of their way to serve their cliental. The staff at LAJ is very knowledgeable, their inventory is well stocked, and their willingness to work with me is why I continue to bring my business to them.

LAJ is run by an honest owner and honest staff. They have been my supplier for my contracting business for over 20 years now. The only place in the Bay Area where you can see a truly wide selection of stair and railing parts.

Been using LAJ as a stair parts supplier since 2004. I appreciate their selection and knowledgeable staff. When I pick up materials they are great about letting me hand pick my parts, but I usually find their stuff is good to go.
