Truckee, California. There is no real purpose to go inside the building. You have a good vantage view of this small town from the Stone Tower & the patio that is accessible 24/7. The weather was 36 degrees in June so do not think for a second all of California is beaches & palm trees. Truckee is the gateway for Reno & Lake Tahoe with Sacramento & Central/Nor Cal in general. The town has more significance than it may appear. The Donner Pass is also adjacent to this town. The tower is still a cool spot to check out, take pictures and if your lucky get in a snowfight in the early summer months =) Travel safely my friends. @cigarcpa

The pool is run by a bunch of smug teenagers who all have different rules and were complete jerks.

Front office staff will behave immaturely. Ali Freeman (Office Manager) broke the mug my four year old son made me, then she mailed it to me. It didn't have to travel far because we use the same post office. I am saddened by the lack of empathy and cruel behavior. I recommend people to proceed with caution; zero integrity.

This place was pretty awesome. At first glance. We spent the last 2 hours swimming there. I have 3 boys ages 7,5,3. My oldest is has special needs/disability. My 3 year old was ripped out of the pool by his shoulder (potentially dislocating it) on 2 occasions by the lifeguard, Beth, who enjoys talking about active shooters in public places with kids around. (She was explaining that the strict life jacket policy was in case of an active shooter, the kids chance of survival would go up. What the??) The last occasion he was physically ripped out of the pool, this same life guard uncoupled his floaties (hello safety!!) and he was told he was on an extended timeout. Mind you he hadn't had the whistle blown near him for over 45 mins. I will not make excuses for any bad behavior but this was our first time at this pool, and he is 3 and learning to follow directions. As a mom if 3 boys and a son with special needs i do make sure they follow rules as BEST I CAN. But sometimes i am watching one and can't watch all of them. Also it is very loud and chaotic in there and hard for anyone to even think straight let alone have conversations with your kids. He couldn't even hear me when i was giving him instruction. So to hear he was on a timeout for behavior that may have taken place over 45 minutes prior was absolutely absurd. The staff there should not be allowed to touch children, personal property, or have conversations about shootings and death With paying guests. These actions are extremely unprofessional. The staff should also be reminded to not take their job personally. It is their job to teach kids the rules and ensure safety. Not get resentful towards parents if they have to blow the whistle to instruct a child. I am a good mom and the lifeguards here are horrible. We were having a great time until the crazy lifeguard pulled our child out of the pool for basically no apparent reason. Hire a new staff. And create realistic expectations with them about kids ages and what they are and are not capable of at those ages. And don't call the cops on parents when they are asking questions to try and understand why your discipline was delayed and without warrant. Also don't discipline kids. You are employees of the state and have no jurisdiction doing so. Leave that to the parents. Use your whistles as needed for safety and do your jobs.

This place is awesome! I'm up in Tahoe all the time to ski, but when the weather is really snowy and/or windy, the mountain gets closed (avalanche control, wind control, etc.) Don't fret about having nothing to do though. This facility has a number of ways to work out -- I first tried the main building which has a multi-lane running track and large number of exercise machines (treadmills, ellipticals, etc.) on the second overlooking several basketball courts below. Personally however, my primary choice for cardiovascular exercise is through swimming, and they have another building with two pools (yes, two) that are amazing. The first is a recreational pool--great for kids, but I see adults having fun there too (admittedly, I've gone down the slides several times)--kindof like a mini water park. On the other side, they have an olympic sized pool with multiple lanes, and a deep end with diving boards. There are also kickboards and pull buoys if you want to isolate your stroke and focus on kicking or pulling (as a former member of competitive swim teams, I'm all over that stuff). Their facilities are very clean and sanitary -- their locker rooms have multiple solo showers, and ample lockers. And to top it off, a day pass is very inexpensive, and they sell swim supplies (bathing suits, swim caps, towels, goggles, fins, etc) in case you either forgot yours or stumbled into this place for the first time. I'll never find myself in Tahoe without a way to get a day's worth of exercise again.

Lawyers Make Swimming Fun and Safe! The lifeguards, policies, procedures and level of training/concern are comically bad and logically contradictory at this place. Keep reading, this place is a mess. The Swim Test (the navy seal junior test). Know this: If you are under 14 you will have to wear a life jacket unless you pass an insanely run and fairly robust swim test. 50 meter swim plus 1 minute treading water, must be done using on your belly and you may not touch anything or you will restart. Safety first right? Wrong, more on that soon. Know this: the swim test is only given once an hour. If you arrive mid hour, you will be waiting for 30-45 minutes to be tested. If you are last to test, add on another 8-10 minutes. Oh wait there's more. You then get a green card filled out by a "life guard" and you must walk that back to check in and wait for someone to get you a green wrist band...add on another 5 minutes. Once and done right? Wrong. You will have to retake this test every-time you swim here unless you create an account at the front desk and trust that the teenager working the desk manually enters your completed swim test info, which they wont. Somehow ever other city/public/private pool I have been to, in Los Angeles, Burbank, Sacramento, Folsom, Rocklin, Roseville, Reno and Davis have figured out how to do this significantly better. At most of these pools, no swim test is required. At pools that do require a test, its done on-demand, 25 meters or less and the band is given by the guard giving the test. But its all for safety right? Wrong. The people making the rules at this pool don't care about your safety as every other feature is backwards to every other pool I've been in. The springboard area is not always roped off and many times people are diving in perpendicular to some going off the diving board. They also have a climbing rope in the middle of the pool, I saw a youngster get rope burn as they let go and slid down it. The water slide. Oh the water slide. This thing actually shoots you out towards a concrete corner. You will not hit said concrete corner when you exit the slide but as the small current carries you forward I have seen many a swimmer come face to face with this badly designed placement. Let's put some padding on that bad boy. The entrance floor is incredibly slippery, we were told it was a "known problem" yet no one has seen fit to put down some rubber matting. Their solution, a yellow sign that says be careful. That's pretty much the problem with this place, they care more about signs than people. Finally the guards. Their default expression is one of disgust. No smiles, ever, for any reason, this is the rule here. I witnessed every guard eating food while guarding and then leaving their station to throw away wrappers. I also saw goggles on divers using the spring board, which is pretty much not allowed at any other pool in California. To top it all off they do the 10 minute break every hour thing and occasionally just close off section for swim meets which you are not told about when you check in. This pool facility itself is great, it's the mind numbing procedures and poorly managed guards running it that suck all meaning and life out of the experience. If you want to find out what a pool run by lawyers feels like, jump in....after you pass the swim test of course.

Nice indoor basketball Court and beautiful outdoor playground. Everything was free except $6 to use the water park. Overall a great day with the family. The climbing wall was closed and the kids couldn't use it but that's ok
