“this is by far the best animal shelter I have ever seen or been to. The people are great, the facilities are wonderful, and they are super committed to the animals. We adopted a bunny here and they made sure that they helped me with the cost of the spay surgery, which was just amazing.”

The facility smelled clean & well taken care of + had dedicated areas for age groups & a puppet show for the children while we were there. We were visiting the area from Southern California and would highly recommend any parents wanting to stop by! It’s well worth it!!”
“Truckee is so lucky to have The Roundhouse! What an incredible resource in this mountain town. It’s rarer for there to be a maker space where you live if you’re not in a big city, so this space was kind of miraculous to discover! The motto here is “What will you make?” and there is plenty of opportunity to discover and develop your inner maker, from classes to workshops to the annual Maker Show. There are member events that build community and amazing work done with other local nonprofits and schools. I’ve learned to sew, make overalls, create ceramics, encaustic art, rope bowls, beginner wood projects. What I appreciate is the commitment to intentionality and communal responsibility - you can’t just drop in and do a same day orientation. There is a weekly tour you can book and a process to bring on new members, which is in place to make sure people are aware of the rules and approved to use the tools they want to use. Stewardship and respect are important. So grateful to have this space up here! Open rain or shine or snow for making. :)”
